We've stopped here a few times recently, and it is a nice little place, catering mostly to locals, which has a friendly ambiance and feel. The menu is decent, but could always use a little tweaking. The burgers are really good, but it would be even better if they weren't straight from a box. The toppings are fresh, and we have enjoyed them. The fries are nicely done and pair up with a burger just fine. They want to serve some Mexican dishes, but I feel that they fall really short here, so we steer away from them. Beer prices are pretty steep.and they don't offer any happy hour pricing, so it's a one beer kinda place for me. All in all, it's a clean and nice place that offers decent food, but prices are a little more than I would think for a place like this. read more

Friendly my ass. Started off good but once the regulars came in my husband and I turned into chopped liver. Asked for another drink that contained lemonade. She said it would be a bit due to them changing it out. Then went to the table right behind me and told them they couldn't do lemonade or draft beer. But waited 20 mins before coming to my table to ask if we wanted our check. Didn't even tell me they were out of lemonade. If she would've told me then I would've switched my drink up. We Just happen to run across this Gem. The Food was delicious, One of the Best Philly cheese steak sandwiches I've ever had its called the Tavern Philly. We just moved in down the street and we're super excited to see Friendly Grille and Tavern was so close. We had high hopes to make this a local spot for us and upon our first visit we were not disappointed. Great selection of beers, super friendly and attentive staff, clean space, and good food. And while food menu is limited, it had good variety. We can't wait to visit again and look forward to making this one of our go to spots! read more

Really glad we tried this place again after a few years. Much better now. Service tonight was excellent as was the food. You can tell that the owners and staff hustle to give their customers a good experience. Really enjoyed the Tenderloin and tots. Wife loved her Chicken Philly. Ordered several burgers and a chicken wrap. 2 large orders of gizzards. My medium burger came with 10 French fries and apparently medium is dark grey. Gizzards were better but in our large order we probably got 20 pieces. So disappointing. read more

Im going to give this four stars because there are literally no other options in Jones. This is it. And you know what? its not bad! Considering it used to be such a dive before it closed and reopened I don't know what people were expecting and I thus disagree with the past reviews. It is cheap, and decent. They tried hard to decorate it nicely inside and its a nice small town diner. I would say-DO NOT drink the water-it tastes like metal. Order softdrinks or whatever is on tap. The service is ok-they call you sweetie but aren't hard pressed to get a good tip. read more

We stop here every year when we go hunting. It's a must stop place. The people are so friendly the food is so good and the prices you can't bet. Often they have live music. We get the chicken gizzards they are so tender and tasty I've never had gizzards anywhere taste as good. The onion rings are perfectly cooked sweet and not greasy. Pick any burger off the menu and you will have a new favorite. They always have a great dinner special. Drinks are low prices. Try the special ketup they have on the table. This was a disappointing lunch stop. Went there for burgers. When they were served, they looked liked hockey punks (when ordered medium well). The hamburger had an odd taste and smelled funny. The previous iteration of this establishment, known as the Friendly Tavern, was a guilty pleasure of mine - a go-to spot for a greasy burger or breaded pork tenderloin sandwich. It was disappointing when it closed, and then sat empty for a few years. As the name (with the addition of the words "Grille and" added to the title) implies, there is an increased emphasis on the food they serve . After several visits, the food has yet to miss the mark. Burgers and broasted chicken both genuinely stand out. On a pleasant day, grab a seat on the new deck along the Western side of the Friendly, and peer in to the densely wooded area adjacent to you as you congratulate yourself for paying heed to this review. read more

I've lived in the area for some time and was happy to see the Friendly reopen. We have been there 6 times and it is going downhill. The first time it was not busy, and they decided to mop with some very strong smelling cleaner that kept the food from tasting like food. The second time the food was okay, but the service was not the greatest. They tend to give you your food and not check on you for refills of drinks or anything else for that matter. The third time, food was what you would expect from a bar and the service was okay. The fourth time they had a wine and canvas event and the only place to eat was at the bar. The bartender is the best server they have. The fifth time was a "disco" night where the music was obnoxiously loud. The music was from the correct decade, but country. Ordered a hamburger and it came out with the wrong condiments. When it was pointed out, they took it and scraped what had been on it and started over. Thank goodness I'm not allergic to eggs. Again, the waitresses bring the food and you don't see them again until the bill unless you can manage to get their attention. This last time, a wet burrito was ordered. The waitress left without asking if it was supposed to be chicken or beef. It came out beef. Again, not able to get refills or napkins unless you could manage to get the attention of the server. If you are going somewhere to drink locally, go there. Food is okay if you can deal with the lousy service. We will not be back. read more

First and last. From reading other reviews I wanted to try this place. Close to home. It's easy to see that it must be easy to impress the ignorant. If you believe this is a good place, I encourage you to go out more. The menu at this place is 90% fried food. Not my first choice. I have a better ambience in my basement than this place has. Service left a lot to be desired. I wanted to try the broasted chicken. I was informed it would be an hour wait as there were three, yes three orders in front of mine. Unacceptable! I thought the food was great. I went with a group of 6 and everyone loved what they ordered. We started with an appetizer order of onion rings, and WOW! Enough for everyone to eat and super crunchy and delicious. Most of had burgers. Cooked perfectly to order. My daughter had the chicken bacon wrap, which is her favorite. Service was great as well. Arrived on a Saturday night with 2 cars in the parking lot--should have seen that as a RED FLAG!!! Waitress was new and all started fine. After appetizers, we asked that our remaining potato skins be wrapped---they were thrown away instead. We waited 30 minutes for 3 wraps and a BLT before asking our waitress about our order. The senior waitress came up and said that she didn't think the order was ever put in and would put it as a rush. The senior waitress came again in 20 minutes and said it would be out any minute. After another 25 minutes, we asked for our order to go because we couldn't wait anymore. After another 15 minutes before asking for a refund and we walked out. It was a total of an hour and 45 minutes with peanuts to eat. They were kind enough to offer to comp the potato skins that THEY threw away. There were 4 other tables there at the time, ALL 4 tables were disgusted with the wait time they were encountering. We spoke with people at all the tables and they vowed never to return. One of the tables were 4 Cass County Sheriffs, and yes, they were questioning where their food was as well. All the people were locals, that's business they can not afford to lose. WE WIL NEVER GO BACK--they will end up going out of business--NO GREAT LOSS! read more
