Cheddar Cheese Spread - A white plate holds three fried fish fillets sprinkled with black sesame seeds, accompanied by a small glass bowl of yellow sauce topped with a dark garnish. The plate is on a table with a menu, a glass of water, a smartphone, and a wine glass visible in the background.

As a new homeowner in the area, I've been dying to find great restaurants that make me feel like I'm eating dinner in Chicago. Enter Susan's! We were able to get a same night reservation on the patio and they are dog friendly as well! Brought our guy a bowl of water too. The prices are definitely higher than other places in the area but well worth it. We started with the beef tartare and cheddar cheese spread. The homemade crackers were outstanding! We also shared the Cavatelli and Japanese Sweet Potato. I loved everything! Our server was wonderful and helpful, and the atmosphere of the whole patio and restaurant were inviting and beautiful. So glad we found Susan's and can't wait wait to return.

Short rib - A plate of short rib with a dark, glossy sauce is presented alongside cooked carrots, celery, and pearl onions. The dish is served on a white plate, with chopped green herbs sprinkled on top. The background shows a person in a gray sweater and a blurred restaurant interior, indicating a dining setting at Susan's in Sawyer, MI.

Great ambiance, attentive service, and tasty tapas. We tried the salted cod, mixed greens, Brussel sprouts, short rib, salmon, chicken, chocolate hazelnut mousse and upside down cake. Service was excellent and the timing of the dishes was spot on. For the shared tapas, we especially enjoyed the salted cod, a purée of salted cod served with rustic bread pieces. The salmon, short rib and chicken were prepared perfectly and the wine selections paired nicely with the limited menu offerings. After a delicious meal, our group of 6 decided to share a few desserts to finish off the evening. We were disappointed and surprised hot tea and espresso were not available to enjoy after our dinner, especially for a higher end restaurant. Overall, we enjoyed our time and look forward to our next gathering at Susan's.

We really enjoyed our visit to Susan's. Such a great addition to this beautiful area of SW Michigan, and the town of Sawyer. Our server, Jayden, made some great suggestions for us despite my wife's razzing humor. The busy chef was friendly and appreciated our feedback. The flavor of the different dishes we had really stood out. For instance, the Japanese sweet potato is roasted just right, and gets put through the roof with the addition of honey and butter! The fish prep on our visit was halibut, and beautifully prepared, really flavorful! The desert of pistachio sponge cake with smoked strawberries was amazing. We enjoyed an after dinner wine on their beautiful patio. Cannot wait to return on our next visit!

    Falafel overcooked

We found this place from Yelp and with the high stars we decided to try it. The atmosphere was very chic and welcoming. The food however was a big let down unfortunately. Our Falafel and chicken was very dry and really no taste to it. We didn't order any side item so I can't comment on those and the pistachio desert was also dry with some smoky after taste to it (which I wasn't able to get the taste out of my mouth after taking a few breath mints). I honestly should give this place 2 stars, but they had a good wine selection and our waitress Cary was the best!

Stuffed Cabbage - Two stuffed cabbage rolls are presented on a dark ceramic plate, with visible seasoning sprinkled on top. The rolls are made of cabbage leaves wrapped around a filling, and they sit in a light broth or sauce. The background shows a light-colored surface, and part of another dish is visible in the upper left corner.

Best food in SW Michigan. Would be nice to have water or be checked on during dinner (no water and empty wine glasses with dinner).

It was our first time dining at Silver Harbor and won't be our last. The atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect from a small craft brewery. Fun, lively, and modern-- a place where people of all ages can enjoy a great drink and some tasty grindage (yes, I just quoted Pauly Shore)... The unique beer selection hits all the marks and my seltzer was exactly what I needed after a long day in the sun getting burnt at the beach! We started our meal with the Bacon Apple Fig Flatbread and it was outstanding. I'd order it again and again. The Hubbs got the Michigan Olive Burger and practically licked his plate afterward! My Asian Crunch Salad was top-notch--I wish every restaurant had a salad like this!! It was fresh and delicious and paired perfectly with the flatbread. Wowww wow wow! I…read morewasnt sure what to expect when my friend suggested this place but I was thoroughly and pleasantly surprised. The "Detroit style" pizza really reminds me more of focaccia bread. It is SO fluffy and delightful. Unpopular opinion here but I typically don't consider pizza to be a "meal." It's something you eat when you don't have it in you to cook, and even if you get it in Chicago it's like...a last ditch effort at feeding yourself. BUT this feels like a meal. Like a treat. Like a schmancy lil indulgence you deserve. My friend is gluten free and I never in a million years would guess this is gluten free. I almost hope they didn't mistakenly put it on regular dough, for my friends sake. But if this is legitimately gluten free, I would gladly get it again even if I wasn't with a gluten intolerant friend. The artichoke pieces are massive, tender and tangy. The sausage is a bit strange, ground sausage instead of little lumps. And the mushrooms really top the "artesenal" feel. There's a cute little market with interesting delicacies and they have an incredibly diverse assortment of non-alcoholic beverages. The clerk did an amazing job of describing many of the options, took a lot of time making sure we knew what we were looking at. Definitely a connoisseur. Fabulous. A little pricey but, again, this is an indulgence. A meal. A quaint opportunity to relax and engulf yourself in fluffy, delectable fare that feels authentic and real. Not just ingredients tossed on a piece of dough for convenience sake. I look for to my next visit here!
