Lake Street Eats - Beef Sandwich

Sometimes you know you're in the right place before you even sit down…read more The smell that hit us when we walked into Lake Street Eats immediately made us look at each other and say, "Yep... we're eating here." It was our first visit, and the bartender quickly welcomed us, asked how we were enjoying the Bridgman area, and made us feel right at home. You could tell he genuinely enjoyed being there, joking with what seemed like several regulars seated around the bar. That kind of atmosphere is hard to fake. We started with the cheese curds, and I have one request for the owners: please bottle whatever dipping sauce comes with them. The portion was generous, and I'd give the cheese curds a solid 9/10 on the stretch meter, which I consider an important scientific measurement. We paired them with a local IPA and a Modelo while taking in the relaxed neighborhood vibe. Between the friendly staff, local décor, full bar, and laid-back atmosphere, it felt like one of those places where locals become regulars. The only minor downside was that it was pretty warm inside during our visit, but it was also a warm day outside, so it didn't take away from the experience. Next time we're in Bridgman, we'll be aiming for one of the outdoor tables. We'll definitely be back--and probably ordering those cheese curds again.

This place gives an option for everyone, and yet everyone at the table will want a bite. Great job LSE. Please teach your servers the difference between giardiniera and au jus though. Dude seemed confused, or trying to play me. Had I been charged for it, I may have complained, but my Italian beef sandwich was delicious nonetheless!

Union Pier Social had a really nice look to it. The decor and overall setting gave me that coastal…read morerestaurant feeling, like one of those places near the ocean where I can just sit down and have a drink. It felt stylish but still relaxed. Our waitress was super nice and made us feel welcome right away. I ordered the Meatball Grinder with handmade sausage and beef meatballs, marinara, melted provolone, and a toasted hoagie roll. This sandwich was seriously delicious. The marinara was the first thing that stood out. It had a deep tomato flavor, was rich and well seasoned, and had enough garlic and herbs to give it a nice savory kick without taking over. The meatballs were tender and juicy, with a really good balance between the beef and sausage. I could taste the seasoning in the meat, and there was a little sweetness from the sausage that worked really well with the tomato sauce. The toasted hoagie had a nice crunch on the outside but stayed soft enough inside to soak up all that sauce without falling apart. It was messy, saucy, and packed with flavor.

First and foremost, incredible service. Very dog friendly and kid friendly…read more We brought our dog who is amazing at restaurants and breweries, never ever an issue. So we sat on the patio and the server brought out a big dog water bowl. Being a hot day however, my dog got over-excited and proceeded to drink nearly the entire bowl and it was full of ice so he threw right back up all the water he drank. We were so apologetic and our server was so understanding. Our server got some buckets of hot water and washed everything off the patio so everything was good as new. Thank you so much! The food was really good too - I got a burger. I know she said they smoke all their own meats so I should've gotten the pork or brisket (which my wife got and it was great), but the cherry bomb burger just sounded too good. And it was great! Loved the cherry peppers, perfectly cooked burger, well designed. Fries were cooked well too. Can't wait to go back. The only precaution I would say is: their patio sometimes gets very full of bees. So we saw a couple parties move inside to avoid the bees.

Wish i had taken pics of the inviting, casual atmosphere inside and outside. Noted a very friendly setup for kids, and many families enjoying the outdoor games. Our server, Lily, could not have been better. Friendly, helpful, efficient, kind. We thought it was just us (kidding) but she was the same at every table she served, even though she was super busy! Kudos to Lily! One of the best! We had the kitchen split an Asian Crunch Salad as a starter. Fresh and crunchy! Hubby got the Burnt Ends Melt on Detroit Sourdough toast with the house made chips. He loved it and said he'd order it again! I had the Olive Burger and had them put it on their toasted sweet potato jalapeño bun. A Michigan staple, we do not have olive burgers in our state. If you've had an olive burger before, and liked it (as I do whenever we go north) you haven't tried ANYTHING yet! THIS BURGER WAS AMAZING! The burger itself high quality beef and perfectly grilled medium as I requested. Fresh leaf lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, sliced olives, and their delicious homemade olive aioli. Mine with waffle fries which were so generous, I had to give 3/4 of them to my husband (who gladly obliged)! Try the pickle bloody mary, if you're so inclined. Yum! Def will return! If you go, ask for Lily and tell her we sent you! ; )
