The environment was clean, fast service! The ladies that work there are so incredibly nice, funny and made everyone that was in the cafe feel welcome like family. The food was large portions, everything tasted amazing! The best meal , and kindness from the area as we have come across some very unpleasant people out there (sadly) we had while on our vacation to Michigan. My family would recommend checking out this little cafe for great tasting food, and coffee for breakfast! Thank you again to the wonderful staff for making my family feel welcome! Excellent food and service. The portions are huge! Biscuits and gravy were ok - could use more actual sausage in the gravy. Eggs and hashbrowns were cooked to perfection. Menu is huge and prices are fair. The interior and exterior can use a little polishing. The building is an old Popeyes fast food restaurant and they still have the empty sign out front, and no AM Cafe signage anywhere. But for a divy greasy breakfast joint it was an all around great experience, would recommend! read more

Went there today for the first time. We see their sign from the highway every weekend in the summer when we are at the boat in St Joe so we decided to check it out After church. The first thing we noticed were the high prices. My wife and I always like try a breakfast skillet which is always enough to share. So when we told the waitress we wanted to split a skillet, she informed us there is split meal fee of $5.00. I actually laughed and thought she was kidding. Apparently it is cover the extra cost of washing the extra dishes as she explained. She said if we ordered an extra side like toast the fee would be waived. We should paid for our drinks walked out right then but we stayed. The check was $36.00 for 1 skillet, 2 drinks not to mention the credit card fee (insult to injury). Needless to say, we will never be going back! Hopefully we can save someone from the same frustration. Good luck A$M. I can't wait to see who moves into that location after you close your doors. I was not sure how the renovation from a Popeyes would work but they did a great job. Senior specials M-Fr only. Senior are not allowed to order from kids menu. Egg combos are 3 eggs. If you want fewer than 3 eggs it is the same charge. A side of eggs is 2 eggs. Omelets, skillets, burritos are plain. There is an additiinal charge for cheese, vegetables and meat. $5 fee for splitting a plate. Food was ok, but not worthy of the prices charged. As a local, there are other less expensive and better food options. I would caution anyone about this restaurant. No longer on my recommendation list. read more

We went for lunch today and couldn't believe that it was $35 for two lunches with no drinks. I had the chicken salad on toast, with a cup of soup. My husband had a gyros; fries, and soup. The soup was good and I could tell the cook is Greek as the flavors were there. The gyro meat was enough to take home. The chicken salad was fresh. The waitress was friendly, good service. Let's get back to $35 for lunch! So they added $1.20 service fee before they even knew how I was paying. My husband got feta on his gyro and they charged an extra $3.50 for a very small amount. The food was outstanding. I had scrambled eggs with onion, ham, green peppers and Monterey Jack cheese. Very good. My husband had an omelette with asparagus and Parmesan cheese. He really enjoyed it. Found the place with - in my humble opinion - the best Reuben sandwich in SW Michigan! It is at the AM Cafe, in Stevensville. I am a sucker for ordering Reubens everywhere and this place has the best. It all comes together so well. They know how to make it just right. Good service, tasty food and convenient parking. The only thing that surprised us was the charge for the take home boxes. When did that start? Like a little hometown diner. The food is very good, large portions , service was very good. I will definitely be back! Some people were complaining that there was a charge for the takeout boxes, but I literally got two meals out of my one omelette, so for $.25 more and get 2 meals for the price of one, it's worth it to me! read more

I am thrilled that I found this place. Absolutely the best breakfast dishes I've ever had. I was working night shift. I'd eat breakfast about noon. Then they started serving dinners and I started buying them for my lunch that night. The owner Tony and his dons and staff are 5 star chefs. It's hard to pick my favorite. Their spinach pie, meatloaf, lasagna, shrimp scampi, spaghetti and meat sauce are all scrumptious. The first time I had their special corned spinach pie I ended up ordering that the next two nights as well. Their homemade soups are just as delicious. Beef macaroni and French onion soup are tops but again it's hard to pick my most favorite. Now I'm on days so I only get breakfast on Sunday when I'm off but I get my dinner there almost every night and have enough leftovers for lunch. What a delightful staff and service to match. 5 stars.
