Amazing food. The owner is very kind and generous. Everything was top notch. The desserts were all very good too.

Ok so this place is now in the former home of La Pita... and WOW what a different experience! The service was out of this world. The food was everything I was expecting and the portion sizes are what made me love Mediterranean since I was in college 25 years ago. BTW you have to try the Baklava Cheesecake for dessert. My dish took some extra time to make, so they gave me one to try and I will be buying one whenever I go in with the family. Seriously; give this place a try. read more

I have been here a few times now. I tried a chicken shawarma bowl, hummus, tahini, falafel, salad, cheese steak, baklava, orange cake, and a beef kebab bowl without rice. All of the food is good and fresh, staff is very friendly. read more

Awesome. They didnt leave the tomato off one order we just picked them out. The person that took the orders walked by and noticed the tomatoes he said. " did they put those in your food" we said yes but no worries. He said " we will make u a new one" we said no it's all good. Bout 5 mins later he put down a full-size to order and said. My husband placed an order with Johnny's website and then left to pick it up. I ordered the chicken quesadilla with hummus. My husband ordered the chicken and steak shawarma bowl with hummus. The meals were good. We also ordered the baklava for dessert. The baklava was kind of dry. I think it needed more honey. However, we enjoyed eating it. We will be going back! read more

Johnny's is well lit and clean with plenty of tables. Simple but delicious menu - I'm a big fan of the chicken shawarma bowl and the spicy Johnny's sauce. The cashier was very friendly and the food came out fast, fresh and hot. Looking forward to trying some dessert next time! read more

The euros are great YEROS. I thought I would eat it at the park by the river, but no fork. So I did manage to eat a little tiny bite at a time by folding it up which seems normal except this sandwich is completely filled. It's hard to keep from spilling it, but I did manage and I only needed a couple of napkins which they were also missing. Loved my yero. read more

Alas, if you loved La Pita, this is not a replacement. Let's start with the positives. The place is clean and the woman who waited on me was very good. I like the spruce up they gave the dining room. They have a full drinks cooler, in addition to a dessert case that had some attractive desserts. On a less-positive note there was a gentleman taking personal calls on his cell phone at the register, which isn't very professional. I ordered take out, and my food was ready for carry out in about 20 minutes. It was a big order so that was a pretty reasonable wait time. On to the negatives, namely the food itself. I ordered a Falafel wrap for my husband with Spicy Johnny Sauce. He told me later that he enjoyed it. He is the least picky person I know, and honestly hasn't eaten a lot of middle eastern food. So if you're not looking for authenticity, there ya go. Meanwhile, my parents and I did not enjoy our food. I ordered three bowls, for Me, my mom, and my dad. The three of us love Lebanese food. My dad gets it in Detroit when he has to go there for work. My folks always loved going out for Lebanese in Grand Rapids. I ordered one Falafal with Garlic Spread (I'm guessing that's toum?) one Falafal with hummus, and one chicken Shawarma with garlic spread. I ordered regular Johnny Sauce on all three after being told it was basically a Tatziki, although they admitted it was mayo based. I also ordered two lentil soups and a hummus with pita breads. The total for all the food was $86.14. The first thing my mom commented on was the strong onion smell. I was nose blind after 20 minutes in the car. Then we tried the food. None of us could finish our meals. The chicken shawarma looked like chopped rotisserie chicken. It was bland with no flavor. The falafels were flat, soft, no crunch. My dad said they tasted and looked like dog treats. The lentils in the soup were not cooked through, they still had quite a bit of "tooth" to them. And the hummus was separating and grainy. The mayo based sauce tasted very strongly of garlic. Like my husband, my dad is an incredibly laid back eater. He's really not that picky at all, food is food and we don't waste food. He actually refused to finish his meal, and requested that I bag up the uneaten portion immediately so he could take it out to the bin. The house smelled for hours, and not in a good way. His final comment was "that is the worst restaurant meal I have ever had." I have to agree. If you love authentic middle eastern or Mediterranean cuisine, this is not the place. I'm giving two stars for service and the venue, but if this was based purely on food, it would get a big fat zero. read more

Food and service were great. If you want to dine in, know that it has somewhat pedestrian decor. In other words, not really a place you'd want to impress a date with. We did notice quite a few people doing takeout. read more
