Wish I lived closer to this gr8 restaurant. Such friendly service and relaxing atmosphere. Nothing spectacular about the menu or the food but always consistent decent food. Was talking to the bartender (super friendly) and she was telling me about having to close down for a couple weeks during the pandemic. My heart went out to these employees who so desperately depend on their income from this restaurant. Glad they are back to work! I highly recommend their burgers and onion rings! read more

The restaurant is location is overlooking the St Joseph River with mix of open space and enclose larger window panels. The service was friendly and prompt. I enjoyed the pan fried Walleye with sweat potato fries, delish! My enjoyed the cod fellet dinner, which she enjoyed. While the restaurant is in the middle of nowhere, think about a reservation because you'll want a view and it is busy. read more

Service is fast & efficient. Food is always amazing. Nice ambiance. Prime Rib is delish!

Food was awful, go over to George's Bar good food goo people. Steak was blackened, not intentionally. Potato Wedges NOT, the concept is awesome that taste is really bad. We were from out of town visiting White Pigeon Mi. Steak should never be burnt, not flavor no salt. You get one chance to blow $150 meal, drinks, order LIT and Bahama mama, the bartender that night had no clue, over-poured drinks, that cost the business money and taste so bad. read more

Jaywalker Restaurant - Over looking the water - American Near Me - White Pigeon, Michigan

We've eaten there about five times now, all since May of this year, having stopped after a trip to nearby Sturgis. Prices are decent, food prep and serving sizes have been consistent, we've not had any problems with meal quality or service in general. Did notice the musty, old-attic smell in their vestibule, but did not find it repellant, nor was it present inside the restaurant. Tables were bussed promptly and restaurant/bathrooms otherwise appeared clean. One observation I will make though is in regards to their table/chair height geometry. The wife and I are both average-sized humans, and under 6ft tall. Most of the table/chair combos we've been seated at seem to have been proportioned for some kind of bizarrely sized Amazon people, with the edges of the tables working out to be somewhere in our upper chest range. We feel like a couple of small children sitting at the grown-up tables, and it's tedious to cut and eat food this way. Just throwing that out there. I'm guessing those are not the original chairs for the tables-- No other issues, give the place a try, recommend. read more

This place was amazing!! Appetizers were delicious! Food was delicious! Our server was great! Definitely will go back.. Only negative... it was expensive! $85.29 before tip and this was for one appetizer, an entree for my husband and myself, and cokes to drink... and we each had a dessert... read more

You cannot find a better carrot cake anywhere! Also if they are not sold out, the ribs are pretty tasty as well!

Went last month for my uncle's birthdays. No one helped us for a good 5 minutes before one of us went up to tell them we had a reservation. The food was overpriced. A bit greasy and didn't taste as good as expected. Fried pickles were great! Drinks were decently priced and our waitress was kind. Probably won't ever go back because it was nothing to go home and rave about, I mean I went a month ago and am just now writing about it. Could've been better. read more

Husband's burger was delicious, but his fries were not completely cooked. My meal took them three tries to get it right. Warning if you have any food allergies, don't dine here. The manager on duty was more interested in talking to the men at the bar and texting on her phone. If I hadn't checked my own food each time it was delivered, we would have been making an emergency long trip to the hospital. Her attitude, so what. read more

Called on Friday asking what time they start serving the prime rib on Saturday. Was told they serve it at 4:00 on Saturdays. We got there at 4:00 because we wanted to make a movie time. Were told it wouldn't be ready for another 45 minutes--REALLY??? The service was not good at all, many mistakes and they were not busy. Had to ask for butter and parmesan 2x, when apps came, we had to ask for silverware. They got a drink order wrong and the waitress (Sammy) admitted she was "ditzy"! Food and service is what keeps a restaurant in business. read more

Won't ever go back and don't recommend! Went in at 8:05, got seated in the patio area.. they were not super busy..a server walked by us a half dizen times and never acknowledged us.. looked at us every time, but never acknowledged.. we left and will NEVER return.. drove an hour to get there as well.. read more

We love Jaywalkers. Our last visit a week or so ago reminded us of why we like it so much. Is it perfect? No. But not many restaurants are perfect. Started off with a dirty martini and they gave us the blue cheese stuffed olives that we requested. It was a little too dirty (too much olive juice) and with the second one we requested a little less dirty. The bartender brought out our second one personally and apologized for the mistake. She needed to make the blue cheese stuffed olives and brought them out herself a few minutes later. The second drink was very good. We ordered potato soup and when it got there it was lukewarm. We sent it back and they were very nice about it. Chef Mike (rowave) heated up the soup perfectly. We shared the Chicago Wedge Salad and it was crispy fresh and dressed perfectly. And huge! I had the fried chicken basket and though the breading seemed overdone, the chicken was done very well and the seasoning was good. My wife ordered the Lake Perch special which comes either pan fried or deep fried. Neither of us are big fans of breading on our fish and she opted for the pan fried. When we got it, it had a heavy breading on it. The waitress was very helpful and suggested we send it back and get it grilled instead. We didn't know that was an option but agreed wholeheartedly. It was delivered a few minutes later and grilled perfectly with no breading (of course). It even had grill marks! It tasted great. We topped off our dinner with the main event, what they are known for: carrot cake! It's huge! Enough for four people. We cut it into four pieces, ate two and took two home to enjoy the next night with a glass of red wine. Hard to explain how good their carrot cake is. Maybe it's enough to say that we have stopped by on occasion and just ordered that. If you love carrot cake, this will be your new favorite. If you don't care for carrot cake, this will not turn you to the dark side. I'm sure they have other very nice desserts but I can't see us ever passing on the carrot cake to try them. Other memorable dishes from previous visits are the chicken gizzards and fried shrimp. I'm sure there are others just as nice and probably a few stinkers as well but eventually we'll try them all. The wait staff, bartender and chef bent over backwards to make our meal comfortable and enjoyable. Give them a try. read more

Just reopened after change to Michigan Covid policy Feb 1. Our first time to dine here was highly enjoyable. Food was as described on the menu and delicious. Only 4 beers on tap but a large variety of cans. Large variety of meals including salads, homemade soup, sandwiches and entrees. Eager for our next time! read more

Stopped in on a whim. Ordered a burger and sweet potato fries, I must say both were cooked to perfection! Wait staff were young and energetic. Also a pretty cool view of the river while enjoying outdoor dining. read more

Disappointed. This restaurant was recommended by a co-worker. I liked the location which was next to a river. The restaurant immediately struck me as a good old boy place. This can either be good or not. I needed to wait to be seated, I wasn't. The bartender finally seated m re after I asked a question. The four guys at the table next to mine started talking about Confederate money. I became uneasy. Then I noticed people who came in after me were getting their meals but I wasn't getting mine. I went to the bartender who immediately brought me my meal. I ate and got out of the place. I had people's ask why I ate the food knowing what the atmosphere was like. I figured maybe I got here on a bad day. Either way, I won't be back. Co-workers have offered to go with me but I say no. read more

Stopped by for lunch. Rather bland exterior but do NOT let that deter you. We dined on the deck overlooking the river, great view,of the bridged and waved to people floating by on the river. Wife ordered buffalo chix wrap. She ask for it to be grilled instead of crispy fried. They were more than willing. It was large sized and tasty. Her cut fries were just like the ones you get at a good fair vendor. I ordered the Pork Wings. Wow! The most measly pork shanks I have ever had. The bbq sauce was Excellent and complimented the smoked flavor of the pork. Huge portion. I had the sweet potato fries which were well seasoned and came with a Dijon mustard sauce. Vey good. Oh, and it came with a,nice side of cole slaw. I truly recommend you visit this place for tasty food and big portions. Only negative is no good selection of craft beers. read more

Definitely a go to place. Great views out door seating, salmon salad is delicious, and make sure to save room for the carrot cake

This restaurant was recommended by a friend. When we got there they were out of the first 2 drinks we asked for. We then ordered two of their more popular sandwiches a philly steak and cheese and prime dip. This was a Saturday night at 5:30. About 15 minutes later the waitress came back to say they were actually out of both those sandwiches. Also note we saw another table receive the sandwiches as she was telling us this. I will never go back the only good thing about this place was our waitress read more

The best part about this restaurant is the view overlooking the river. Was really disappointed when we found out the prime rib was a recook, and didn't have the cook of medium rare what we prefer. and to top that all off it was a special of the day and at a ridiculous high price! At least cut the price of the prime rib if you can't get it the way you prefer. Overpriced food and the place was gloomy and needed a good cleaning... The best part about this place is the location. read more

Nobody knows where the hell Mottville is...until you mention Jaywalker, our claim to fame. Then it's "Oh, sure!" I'm relatively new to the area but I've heard this place has a storied history under various names and owners, not all good. However the gal who runs it now seems to get it, and the weekend parking lot is normally full. The menu selections are upscale for this zip code (Grouper Sandwich, excuse me?), but folks will drive quite a way for just that reason. I've worked my way through about half their menu and haven't had a disappointing entree yet. The riverfront setting is beautiful. Give it a try next time you're in Mottville (huh? where?) :) read more

We were passing through the area and needed a nice lunch place for our group of 6 people. Jaywalker was a fantastic choice. The other reviews did not let us down. Everyone's food was terrific. Between us we had the fish, cheeseburger, taco salad, fried green beans, sweet potato fries, onion rings, and more. Service was friendly, and the view out the window was great. They also have a well-stocked bar, which we didn't take advantage of. However, since we were on a road trip we took advantage of the clean bathrooms. Like everyone else says - the building's outside is rather plain, but the food and view inside more than make up for it. read more

I got the ask you can eat fish the first time I went and Their fish is amazing! And amazing tasting burgers!

A fine place for dinner, right on the St. Joseph River. There are few options for good food on this stretch of U.S. 12. You can't go wrong. The only downer was the carpeting. It needs updating bad. read more

This is an awesome place for a quiet dinner by the river. We stopped after seeing the reviews on yelp and was not disappointed. Huge portions and great quality. I don't like coleslaw but left nothing behind of the fresh coleslaw I got as a side. My wife got the fish tacos and left nothing behind, not too spicy but had a subtle heat. Huge pile of sweet potato fries and they were really great. Every thing seemed home made and nothing prepackaged. read more

My wife and we're checking out places for group of close friends to have an evening party and we tried out Jaywalkers. The view of the river was great, but that's about the best we can say about the evening. Our server seemed uninterested and rushed us and then the whitefish arrived over cooked and dry. Needless to say it will not be the site for the party. read more

Great Food, Nice view River, Full Bar, Servers were nice and took care of us. We will return.

Seems like the kind of place city folks imagine small towns have instead of Applebee's. The food was about on par with an Applebee's. Everything came in very large portions and nothing I tried made me want to order that item again (except maybe the mozzerella sticks.) The coleslaw was honestly awful, the fries were soggy and bland, the salmon on the salad was really soft and flavorless. The appetizers our table ordered made it clear that their fryer works, but again, nothing to write home about. It was extremely loud (and dark) in the back room and service was incredibly slow. Maybe I just ordered the wrong things but I wouldn't feel inspired to go again. read more

food tastes amazing and great customer service!! the outdoor seating has beautiful scenic view of the river.

Stopped in on the way to my honeymoon destination. Had a burger and it was delicious. They also give you the option of fries or sweet potato fries. My wife also got a tasty French Dip Sandwich and the broth seemed real. I dock it a point as the fries I had, regular, were frozen... so get the sweet potato fries read more

Very good food. From the outstanding Prime Rib to the perfectly cooked broccoli. French Onion Soup was delicious. Nice low key atmosphere.
