Stopped in for lunch, amazing burgers with onion rings and fried pickles! Amazing service also!

I came in to grab a bite to eat ended up staying for a couple hours. The food is amazing the staff is friendly and attentive. The owner Shelly treats you like you are family, this is a family oriented atmosphere so whether you are out with family or friends you will enjoy yourself. I was out canvassing for my fundraising golf outing and came across this little gem. The service was fantastic by Kristy. The husband/wife owners were present and talked to us about everything. The whole place has sports everything. It's family friendly so I'll be back with my kids. Their thursday pork tenderloin special is the best tendeloin i ever had. Great food great appetizers. Great atmosphere and service.

The waitresses are very kind and helpful. However, they do not have ketchup on the tables and they charge $.50 for a tiny container of it. I was taken aback as ketchup flows freely at every other restaurant in the country. The cost of the containers, time it takes to fill, storage space, and environmental impact of all the little plastic containers are an interesting choice. Almost ran to Dollar General and plopped a bottle or two of ketchup for them to put out. read more

Alas weeks have passed since I walked inside Shortstop Inn. I must admit the hesitation I felt providing a two star review to such a well known establishment within the Wakarusa community. After further consideration I can confirm that on the night of December 23, 2023, Shortstop Inn deserved two stars. Walking up to the restaurant with a couple friends, I felt a little apprehensive. I had never been there and I wasn't sure how the regulars would view a foreigner. Faint music was heard outside the door and I felt a sense of relaxation. I walked in and was met with an almost cartoon-like end to the music as every single soul in the room locked their eyes on me. Quickly shaking it off, I looked to my future server and was led to a bench in the middle of the room. Off the bat, I noticed it was DJ night. This means that a hired DJ sets himself up in the middle and of the room, plays music, and places his own lights in the restaurant. What I personally didn't understand was how one second the DJ would be playing a song and the next second, nothing. The music was interestingly inconsistent, constantly starting and ending. Shortstop is a pretty small, pub-like atmosphere, so the DJ's presence is felt in nearly every seat of the building. Interestingly enough, there weren't many people in the restaurant. This led to a dead atmosphere for most of the night and honestly felt little awkward. Not to mention that nearby customers still had inquisitive looks to them as they watched us. Even the server seemed a little strange around us. Overall I felt this feeling of being ostracized. Nonetheless, I dove into the menu like a child on Christmas. I started to think the "smash cheeseburger" sounded amazing and when the server returned to take my order, that's exactly what I chose. To my emotional demise, I was told the grills were off. It was 8:00 in a place that was open until 1. I truly didn't understand and in my grief and confusion, I ordered the mac and cheese with chicken. Wallowing in my disappointment, I felt my retinas suddenly scorched. Looking up confused, I realized the DJ's lights were shining all over the place. Expecting to get used to it, I noticed my breathing beginning to struggle. I looked over at the DJ trying to avoid the lights connecting with my eyes, and saw the fog machine had kicked on. "Oh brother," I thought to myself. The fog wasn't just suffocating, but created this nauseating aroma implying some sort of toxicity to this fog. All that to say, my friends and I got up and went to the bar where the fog was slightly less intense. I knew that with everything Shortstop Inn had offered me so far, this mac and cheese desperately needed to be by far the best I have ever had. Within the second, the food arrived. I could likely create larger circumference with my fingers than the plate I received had. I took a bite and realized this was the type of mac and cheese that had a liquid cheese sauce rather than actual cheese, giving a soupy feel to the dish. The chicken was nearly flavorless and I completed the meal in around two minutes. My internal rage sizzled inside of me as I was about to pay $10 for this meal. I glanced to my friend who had ordered chicken wings. He offered to give me a taste and I gladly accepted. Fortunately for Shortstop Inn it was one of the best wings I had ever tried. The meat slid right off the bone and bursted with flavor. I had no more than one so I can't describe in too much extended detail, but I was impressed regardless. So there I was, sitting in Shortstop Inn torn on the final verdict. That's when I looked around and saw their second star. Smiling faces and dancing bodies shining through the fog. I may not have felt at home and I may not have enjoyed the music or fog. I may have even hated the mac and cheese. But some joyful locals making the most of their night within the confines of Shortstop Inn's atmosphere was worth something. read more

Great food and friendly atmosphere. Recommend the house sauce on the wings. The loaded fries are also a hit.

The drinks and food are good the short stop pizza is delicious. And if you are a smoker you are welcome. Love this place it is our new favorite place to go on Friday afternoon read more

Not rating the bar or food actually. Just letting non-smokers know don't waste your time going here. We walked inside and was hardly able to breathe as the stale smoke smell was so bad. Had to turn around and leave. read more

Unfortunately this bar still allows smoking. I have no problem with this, however we probably won't be going back. Until they go smoke free. We did have some food and it was ok. It was your topical bar food, nothing special. The staff was very friendly. read more
