Been there a couple of times. Never been a place people think "hey let's go there!" Only ever go if someone wants a cheap drink with a cheap vibe. It's not a dive bar but more of a neighborhood bar that prefers regulars. Nothing special or notable. read more

Stopped here while we were staying in South Bend for a couple weeks. Some of the worst service I've ever had. Bartenders would serve other people before us that walked up to the bar after us. Customers glared at us the entire time. Just a wholly unwelcoming experience all around. Would not recommend unless maybe a regular brought you there with them first. read more

My 200th review! I have family that lives in South Bend so when I come to visit, I like to go out and have a drink just to get away from them. My brother takes me to Mitch's all the time because they are never overcrowded, they have 2 pool tables, dart boards and the staff is really cool. Plenty of TVs at the bar to watch whatever games happen to be on that night. Coming from NYC, with NYC prices in mind, I was pleasantly surprised to see everything so cheap! Whiskey was $4 and bottles were $3, how can you beat that! Definitely one of the best local bars in the area and they even have a jukebox so you can listen to whatever music you wanna pay for. Great place to ease back, chat with friends and enjoy a drink or four. Only negative is that they allow smoking inside the bar and I am a non-smoker. read more

I wanted to give them 4 stars. Average pub food but the bartender was GREAT. Super friendly and very attentive. Unfortunately, I went there to watch a football game and they don't have Big Ten Network. For me, that should be a staple for a location that is going to bill themselves as a "sports bar". Especially if you're in the Midwest with a fair handful of Big10 alum. Knowing this, I would highly recommend this place for non-Big10-TV related sports bar needs. great vibe. great staff. read more

What can I say? Have been coming to this joint since it opened. Great regulars, smoking, one of the best offerings of "bar food" in the county, and, my personal favorite, free trivia. Not the kind at most places where its once a week against a bunch of twits , but the kind where anyone can get a personal keypad and play against the entire country, and parts of Canada, Julie, Annie, Donna and Kelly are all very good barkeeps, each with their own area of expertise, and a joke or two. Mitch is often there, as is his Dad, and it is a great atmosphere where people seem to mostly forget ego and vanity and just "be" there, as equals. There is plenty of room so not to feel crowded and they had a drinking patio. There are several pool tables and games for something fun. read more

Great place to catch a game with drink prices that are extremely reasonable. It's very close to campus but surprisingly does not draw a student crowd at all... Thank god. Food is solid - a lot of bar food basics but their wings are fantastic. Only draw back is that there are no sauces offered on the wings, they come out basically as fried wings, but you forget about the sauce part as soon as you taste them. The service is always top of the line. These girls (and occaisionally a dude or two) deal with some pretty intense crowds but never skip a beat. Both owners (dad and son) spend a lot of time at the bar and are frequently interacting with their guests whether they're regulars or new faces. Heard the owners opened up a new bar on the South Side. If they run it like they do this one, the people will come. Awesome spot. read more

Mitch's provides a friendly, festive sports themed atmosphere. The bartenders are phenomenal, especially Julie and Libby. The two generations of Mitch that not only own but frequent the establishment are good folk too. Sometime the Golden Tee machine gets crowded and the trivia crowd gets wonky, but those things wont ruin your visit. The TV situation is just to die for, lots of high definition large screen televisions, and the bartenders are happy to put on the game of your choice, or an episode of hoarders, if you're into that. read more

Parking: They have their own parking lot but fills up pretty quickly it there is an average size crowd. Atmosphere: Nothing special with the surroundings. Service was ok but the crowd was fun. They have a pool table and other games. Food: The beer was cold and they have a good selection. The pizza bread sticks I do not recommend. Not a lot of flavor, nothing special. Tip: Good place to drink and watch a game. The crowd is a lot of fun. read more

A great spot to watch games. Great staff. It normally doesn't get super crowded until late, and there is usually a cop there on the weekends checking ID. If he waves you in, that means you're there too often and maybe you should make some changes in your life. read more

Absolutely terrible service there was 1 person sitting at the bar and 15 people sitting at tables 3 tables total not once did the bartender ask us if we needed anything nor was our table ever cleaned when questioned I was told no table service. a pretty good size old-fashion sports bar with a lot of people drinking. This seems to be the iplace to go for the youth of the area and the place seems to have a decent kitchen bringing out quick bar staple food. there is not much of craft beer as this is the boondocks outside of Notre Dame's student population most of whom likely don't stop here anyway. read more

It is kind of dirty and the bartender was rude when asked about their wine choice. Tried to explain to her in the bathroom why I questioned her answer about "we have red and white" but she continued to be rude and, lol, of all things, haughty. We had heard negative remarks about the bar but still wanted to try it. We've been there twice in 2 weeks because our kitchen is under renovation and we need to eat somewhere but I would have to say "meh." We won't be back. read more
