Great place! Sat in the bar area and received great , prompt service. Waiter was very nice and aware of refill needs as they came. Menu was limited to mainly burgers, a few appetizers & some sides, but there were many options to choose from! Ordered a Mushroom & Swiss Burger...it was Delicious. Also ordered a Roadhouse burger and my hubby says it was one of the best he's had! Side salads were plentiful and tasted really good! Very nice atmosphere and good music to listen to as you eat! This place was opened when there was a huge snowstorm that halted our road trip and travel plans. Q, one of the staff members was super nice and super helpful answering our questions and sharing information. The mushrooms were so good. Thank you for saving us from the winds and Arctic temperatures. I looked to Yelp for great burgers in town and found them. We ordered take out, burgers and fries and they were everything and more than we expected. Big juicy burgers ( the 5 Star & Royals), and crisp fries. If you've ordered takeout you know that by the time you get the food home it is often sad and limp. Not these! I would have taken a photo but we dug in and ate every bit of those burgers before I remembered. They also honored a Yelp check in and gave us free mozzarella sticks. When we first came here, it was a destination. We would tell everyone about it. The Styx were these massive beer battered things that were worth the drive alone. Their burger list was 10 deep and interesting including a spicy peanut butter burger. On that menu, our last two visits, we made the mistake of coming on a Sunday night after, apparently, they had run out of nearly everything. Despite shortages, the previously juicy burgers were now dry. We haven't been back in months, and decided to give it a final shot with the advent of the new menu. There are now only 4 burgers, and not very good. The Parmesan crusted toast for my sandwich had no parm. The cheesesticks have now lost their distinctive beer batter, or they changed the recipe, or something. Bottom line, if you review the older reviews, they were true then, but not now. We won't be back, I suggest you look elsewhere. read more

Five Star Dive Bar is a fun and unique place in Elkhart. It looks like it is housed in a former theater/music venue and they do have a stage inside set up for live music. A band was playing the evening we ate dinner there which was a nice surprise for a Wednesday evening - most places seem to only do live music on the weekends. As far as food, there are plenty of options and something for everyone. They have two sides to their menu - the five star side (pasta, chicken and steak dinners, etc.) and the dive bar side (sandwiches, salads, burgers). I got the bourbon chicken salad and loved it. I also got a side of fries (the salad balanced it out, right?) and they were crisp and delicious. Delicious food with lots of options, good prices, and live music make Five Star Dive Bar a great place to check out. read more

In town for work and stopped in for dinner. Interesting interior and a super friendly staff. I'll be stopping in again next time I'm in town to sample more of the menu. This time I had the chicken parm stuffed grilled cheese with mojos. My first experience with mojos (thick potato rounds); liked their seasoning, would have liked them crispier. Sandwich had excellent flavor and I took 1/2 because I wanted to try one of the desserts. The fudge brownie was that and the accompanying vanilla ice cream was fantastic. Too many times I have found the ice cream to be lacking, not this time as they used a super premium. read more

Holy cow, this place is great! Let's start with the food. I had the fish and chips: the best ever, including the two times I lived in Europe. Big juicy pieces of cod fish, with wonderful crispy breading. Fries were yummy. Hubby had the Bernie Mac n cheese steak burger and loved it. This place is huge, well laid out, and clean looking and smelling... totally impressed. Our waitress, Pam, was superb: knowledgeable of the food, great personality and funny. Expensive food that is definitely not worth what you pay for. I paid almost 18 dollars for a wrap that had more lettuce than chicken, A WRAP is that price. A friend of mine ordered a salad that basically had chicken, a little bit of carrots, tomatoes and ICEBERG lettuce for the same price ~18. Drinks are good at least, I had a gin and tonic. Do yourself a favor a try a different place for now. Hopefully they can soon improve their menu, because they have a spacious place for it. read more

This place just edged a 4 star for the fact the food was creative. Nothing beats a good medium rare burger with a runny egg. The fatty McGee was a treat as my wife loves peanut butter. The jalapeños were nice and fresh. Burger was a little over done but the fries kept ya digging for more. The waitress we had was only a week on the job and did phenomenal with doing it herself. The food was okay, not great. Had a bit of difficulty with the waitress understanding what I wanted, even though it was in plain English and I showed her exactly what I wanted. It came from a different part of the menu, and she said it couldn't be done. It could and was, so I'm happy I got to eat what I wanted. Guess you don't have to be a rocket scientist to wait tables. This was nothing like I had expected, but now I'm full, so I'm happy. The music quit playing five minutes after I entered and all you have for entertainment is listening to the few other patrons in this dead space. I would rather give only two and a half stars, because it's not above average in any way. I doubt that I will return. read more

This place is so cool and the food is unbelievably delicious! It's in an old movie theater with all kinds of movie memorabilia. We traveled from Columbus, Ohio to camp in Bristol, Indiana. Our last night in Bristol we were planning a cookout over the fire. Then the rain came in. We bailed & headed to FIVE STAR DIVE BAR for food & beer. Their frosty Jaeger Bombs are served super cold in these teeny little Frosted Mugs. I hope when you visit, Lou is your bartender/waitress and storyteller. We asked for "what's the best of this or that... yada yada?" She gave us the best recommendations and we were NOT Disappointed with our/her menu selections. Kid friendly - our 9 year old was yumming over his chicken strips (size of a small hen!) & fries. Oh my word the fries are so good! Lou is THE Coolest chick with the kindest heart & funnest stories! I am telling you - THIS FOOD IS AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS! And the atmosphere is the icing on the cake! And there's live music on certain nights & a comedy club in the basement. No complaints about this 5 star dive! The wait staff have customer service down to a science... I checked in on Yelp and received the complementary homemade cheese sticks. I order the Smokehouse burger and washed it down with a Red Stripe The cheese sticks were a work of art..these are not those dusty cheese sticks you get that get crumbs all over your clothes, these lovelies were battered with their original batter which covered deliciously on the mozzarella! There were enough for 3 people in my opinion The burger: all I'll say is smoked gouda...Mike dropped..off the stage and eating another smokehouse...the smoked gouda was MAGNIFICENT! the bacon was good..and the meat was solid as well..cooked medium or medium well..then you have a masterpiece! True to the name this bar was a little divey. However, the atmosphere was comfortable and the people were nice. I ordered the mozzarella sticks that they have as a check-in offer. They were huge. Huge and delicious. I would have to say that hands down they were the best mozzarella sticks I have ever had. They have their own homemade batter which really made the sticks! For the main course, I got a macaroni and cheese bacon cheeseburger. It was really good. The meal was definitely worth it. read more

If I could give a 0 star review for last evening, I would. I arrived at 730 pm, on June 7th 2023, and sat with our table, as our friends were in the band for the live acoustic set. After sitting for a few minutes, I asked if we needed to go to the bar to order a drink, and my friends said no she'd be around. She finally came by our table at 745 pm, and I asked if they had a specific liquor and she said no, and I was like ok can I get some food since you're here. She said our kitchen closed at 730. I said it's 745 and your kitchen closed at 730 in the middle of the live band set. They are playing until 10, and you're not going to serve any food. She then rambled off 14 things that the kitchen was out of, and said since they were out of so much stuff, they just closed. I literally just looked at her, like I thought she was kidding. I said, so you're going to have live music for the next 2 hours, and not offer anyone any type of food. That's unheard of. I said I'll take a jagermeister with a red bull, she said we ran out of jager. I was like this is not a great start, so I'll take a diet coke. My friends food came out a few minutes later, even though the kitchen was "closed," and in the middle of them eating our "waitress" (i use quotes cause she needs some training), my friend finished his beer, and they were still eating, and this girl comes up and said if you're finished drinking that, I can go ahead and cash you out. They were still in the middle of their food. They were going to get another beer, but were COMPLETEY turned off, they just closed their tab. She then comes over to me, and says do you want to close your tab as well. I said for my Diet Coke, SURE, just so I wouldn't have to deal with her anymore. It was $3 for my diet, and i work in the service industry, and was completely appalled by our waitress, and tipped her a $1, which was probably too much! I understand the kitchen running out of some things, but if you are going to have a live band night, maybe the ordering and delivery should be set up to accommodate more people coming to see the band. We all said yesterday, if they play again we will eat elsewhere and then come watch the band. My friends raved about the mozzerella sticks, and how nice everyone was, and how accommodating they were, but that was NO WHERE to be found last night. I would also suggest actually taking time to clean the women's bathroom. read more

Made reservation and arrived on time. We were seated and ignored. Hostess finally stopped and asked us if we had been served. We said no. She went to find us a server. Meanwhile, people who arrived after us were getting their orders taken and food served. After another long wait, the hostess came back and asked the same question. We said no again. My friends and I just visited Five Star Dive Bar last weekend at the new location. I was really impressed with The building especially the back patio atmosphere. I think they've done a good job of making it feel classy. The burger I got was absolutely delicious And whatever of those mojo fries are.... they have haunted me. Meh.... the chicken parm sandwich and mojos were great but the nachos were AWFUL! Menu says homemade chips - they were NOT homemade. Menu said sandwich came with basil but it didn't. Waitress was forgetful we had to ask for things multiple times. I finished my whole sandwich before I got my mojos.
