    Veggie quiche with coleslaw
    Shani J.

This is such a sweet little restaurant! I came in as soon as it opened, and I was soon joined by a few other parties that had been waiting outside for the doors to open. It was so cozy, and inviting and I couldn't wait to dig into the menu. I ordered an iced tea and asked for sweetener, and my server told me she would make a simple syrup mixture for me so it would blend easier in the drink. I love that! Simple touches that are thoughtful, and make your visit so much better. I ordered a vegetable quiche, and unfortunately, I didn't really like it. It was prepared well, but I think it was just one of those things that just isn't for me. It wasn't bad enough to turn me away, there were several other things I would like to try on the menu, but quiche just sounded good to me that day. They only take cash, but also said they would take a check that I could mail to them when I got home. That was so nice, but I didn't trust my memory to do that, so I went to the gas station next door to the ATM.

    Cucumber Gazpacho

Currently the place is only open for lunch between 11 and 2 on weekdays, so I hadn't been able to visit until a couple of weeks ago. First things first, the location was in the older (but relatively safe) part of town with a lot of older buildings and closed businesses nearby. The restaurant itself was in an old unassuming store. The first thing I noticed walking in was that the tables and chairs were all different and mismatched, the silverware too. Honestly this was the first restaurant I've visited with such random set up, and it actually felt homy in a quirky way. The menu was short, but it listed uncommon fares and it relied heavily on daily specials, which was great because that means it would change from day to day. I picked the cucumber gazpacho while my wife got the mushroom soup. My gazpacho showed up with a real flower in it, which was a complete and pleasant surprise. The taste was just the right shade of refreshing, and the mushroom soup was really nice too. For the main course I picked the portobello with shrimp and crab because I love seafood and I have never had this particular meal before. It tasted great, about as great as it looked, as it was also garnished with real flowers. The missus' quiche was also wonderful. I rarely order desert, but considering the unique menu I just had to order one out of curiosity. Desert for the day was their special cheesecake pulled out of the oven moments ago. They had to chill it first because otherwise it would have been too hot to enjoy. The cheesecake didn't disappoint, and served as a satisfying finish. Overall this was a solid five-star experience from a local family restaurant. I can't recommend it enough, and I'm looking forward to the opportunity to visit again. Oh, they only take cash (and probably check if you're a regular). Remember this so you don't get caught unprepared, although there's a Wells Fargo bank branch & ATM about 250 yards east.

The food is delicious. Parking is a challenge and they only take cash but those minor inconveniences are worth it.

The service is exceptional and the food is delicious. We loved the potato skins which were unique in that they were more like tempura than traditional potato skins. The Brussels had a ton of flavor as did the steaks and salads. The highlight was probably the Sword of John Adams. It's basically a giant kabob with grilled meats (steak, lamb & chicken) and vegetables. It reminded me of something I imagine you'd see at Medieval Times but much more tastefully done. The Pumpkin Spice Gelato and Crème Brûlée were a nice way to finish our dinner. A bit unexpected that they also offer sushi. We did not try it this time but based on our first experience, would feel confident to try it next time since everything was SO good.

Now for the food... we were so excited for the steak fondue... three small cast iron pots, less than a 1/4 cup of fondue the same amt of meat and mushrooms and a mound of toasted bread cubes... this was tasty, but for $18 those crocks should have been filled three quarters full! For dinner I ordered 1/2 of the arugula salad with chicken. I could not eat the salad as it was drenched in dressing, almost like it it been dressed earlier and lest to wilt.. chicken was over seasoned and quite dry. The burger... COVERED in two sauces... they don't described it as a smothered burger... such a shame bc the flavors were there. If choosing, pick the others, prices are much better and hands down, so is the food..

Besides that--I hardly have much of a demand, I just want to know if my burger comes with a patty or is just brisket, as it wasn't very clearly indicated in the "burger box" Super disappointing at such a price point/location. I expect more than being visited twice in nearly 30 minutes and only getting the response of "I don't know" and "I'm not sure" I left after taking two sips of my beer, and was chased out by some manager who FINALLY acknowledged us, only trying to get paid for the single ounce of beer that I consumed, as well as two sips of (warm)unsweetened tea that my grandmother had. It's not often I leave without paying, but if you're not going to acknowledge me and cant be at least a decent host, I'll just be on my way before i get too far in. When you charge $20 for a burger, I would think the service is matching that level of quality. Yes I would like a follow up, too. Because if you got my grandma following me in agreement, there's an issue. Really disappointing, probably won't make the stops like I used to. Place appears to need some quality help.

We did the six-course chef's tasting with wine pairings and every single course delivered. The food was creative, beautifully presented, and incredibly well-balanced, and the wine pairings elevated everything even further. But what truly made the experience stand out was the service. The team struck that rare balance of being both highly professional and genuinely warm. Nothing felt scripted. It felt personal. When they learned we were close to graduating from our MBA program, they surprised us with a menu signed by the entire staff, filled with handwritten notes of encouragement.
