Family dinner at the light house !
    Anthony O.

Took the family here for something different for a send off for a family member. I can say the staff is not used to dealing with more than a group of 10 as they weren't sure how to split the bill with everyone and made it more of a us problem . I will say this is not a kid friendly place as they don't have any kid menus options or kid choices on drinks but this was to be expected when checking reviews before hand. I was disappointed in not seeing drink options on the menu and when asking about alcoholic drinks i was told the bar is open. To say the least they where still very friendly for being low staffed and a little on the busy side. I ordered the Boom Boom shrimp which was a little surprising how good it was with a little heat kick to it. Main coarse was the Philly Cheese which which was a little bland on favor but got the job done. Now with my other family members meals they where a few missing items, orders cooked and placed wrongly, and was pretty disappointing in flavor with steaks as they tasted of propane. Don't get me wrong i love supporting small and local business but food and experience was a little of a let down.

    Fried Mushrooms and chicken fingers!

I have been here several times in the past over the years as this is my parents local cheers...literally. When you walk in they all know each other around the bar and have formed a bond here at the Blue (as the locals call it ;)) The people are all very friendly, the prices are reasonable and you are never left waiting for a drink! Last night, we sat at the bar and ordered the Bam Bam shrimp...delish. Five very plump shrimp flash fried and then doused in this creamy spicy sauce. Next up were the chicken fingers and fried mushrooms. The chicken fingers are phenomenal. The plate of mushrooms were heaping and had melted cheese sprinkled over the top. YUM. Last nights specials were the prime rib for $9.99 and the smothered steak for $11. The prime rib seemed to be a local fave. In addition to the bar, there is a large dining room that is usually quite busy on a Friday or Saturday night. OH, and lets not forget the best part about the Blue...Pull Tabs! $1 a piece with winnings up to $500 if you're lucky! On several occasions we have pulled a $100 and a $300. VERY fun! If you're in the area looking for a fun place to check out definitely stop in at the Blue. Who knows, you might just be a new addition to the Cheers club they have formed there. Be sure to ask about the "Drink of the Day" club. Its $30 for the year and you get a free drink everyday as well as a birthday dinner for $10. Oh, and ask for Kim, she is a hoot :)

This was without a doubt the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. The service was awful. The food was mediocre at best.

We've had to wait on one occasion, the hostess wasn't really trying to get us seated but the manager definitely had a sense of urgency to find us a table. The fried mushrooms are amazing, with their zesty ranch sauce. The pickles and peppers are okay too. I love their Caesar salad, so well dressed and fresh every single time! I usually get a baked potato and side of mushrooms or broccoli, their flash fried green beans are also excellent. If you get broccoli with cheese the cheese isn't shredded it's a cheese sauce like a Mac n cheese roux and cheese sauce. Also if you want regular asparagus be sure to mention it or else they'll bring you breaded asparagus. I also really want to try their frozen coke with rum, yum! It's a nice restaurant, one of the better, higher end, chain restaurants in Mishawaka/South Bend.

He even picked both of our meals, to share of course! As a non planner he really knocked it out of the park! We shared their ribs, loaded baked potato, chicken tenders and jumbo shrimp! I got a Cesar salad, he went with the house! Both meals were fantastic!! The ribs were so delicious, we considered ordering one to go, even though we were both super full! I highly recommend the mojitos! I believe is was pomegranate! And their fresh bread! Yum!! We sat at the bar to check all the college games. It was the perfect spot! The GM was beyond nice and even gifted me some beads for the game! Can't wait to be back!

We sat on their beautiful patio with a perfect view of the St. Joseph River- what a treat! There are opportunities to sit in so many places it felt a bit like a maze in the best way- so much to see! And with all of these places to sit, on a lovely Friday night- this place was poppin'! So we'd likely recommend a reservation if you think of it, but I'm certain the wonderful staff would be able to fit you in as they can! We waited a moment for our food, but with our large group, we were happy to do so as the food was worth the wait! Many of our group got OG Burgers while others opted for chicken wings and brisket sandwiches, or even tacos! They really had it all! The food had a bit of a kick with the spice, but as someone with not a high spice tolerance, it was not too much at all! I didn't get a chance to snap a pic of our dishes because we just scarfed them down- Ha! The service was attentive, but also really independent and relaxed! Cared for, but not micromanaged in the slightest! Free to laugh loud and make memories with no rush out! Worth the stop if you can make it! What a joy!!

We sat at a picnic table on the deck under a large umbrella. Great views of both the river and the train bridge! The food was creative, beautifully presented, and incredibly well-balanced, and the wine pairings elevated everything even further. You can tell there is real thought and precision behind every detail--from the menu to the pacing of the meal. And the ambiance was a total vibe! But what truly made the experience stand out was the service. The team struck that rare balance of being both highly professional and genuinely warm. Nothing felt scripted. It felt personal. When they learned we were close to graduating from our MBA program, they surprised us with a menu signed by the entire staff, filled with handwritten notes of encouragement.
