My daughter and I had another wonderful visit to this restaurant on August weekday afternoon. We were greeted warmly by the woman behind the bar, and we ordered from a menu at the register and sat down at a table. We both ordered cheeseburgers and fries, I ordered a double cheeseburger, plain, and my daughter chose a single cheeseburger with everything on it. Now I don't order burgers very often but, today I was extremely hungry and they sounded amazing. These burgers came out with buns that were glistening with. I don't know what......I'm going to guess was some kind of magic from heaven lol. This burger was probably the best burger , if not an easy second best burger I've ever had! The bun was toasted on the grill with a delicious buttery taste, I believe it was a brioche bun. The patties were flavorful, And juicy. It goes without saying the quality products that were used when you enjoy this burger! Bonus- this burger was huge!! I couldn't make it through half! The fries are literally perfect as well! Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. So good! Lunch for two with drinks and a good tip was 30 dollars, which was fair considering we brought home another meal for later with the leftovers! Scoobies is the only local sub shop in town and it is so much better than any chain. The service is fast and the staff is always so nice. I call in my order ahead so it's waiting for me when I walk in. It's about $10 for a 6 ish inch sub loaded with meat plus chips and a pickle. Great local business to support. Head on down to the Scooby's and they got you covered. They do have a fairly extensive menu for being a tiny little diner, but the quality of the food isn't great. It's average to just below average. You can look at all the "memorabilia" while you wait. There's a Rolling Stone section as well as one for Tom Petty, and I see a Marilyn and Dean over there somewhere. Service? This is a great place in every way imaginable. Extremely clean, very friendly crew, with an extensive menu. and the best chicken Parmesan sandwich I've ever had. Reasonably priced as well. I love the location, which borders an older residential neighborhood, which only adds to its charm. I suppose this is one of the endearing features of Wrigley Field in Chicago, to Cub fans. Ever since they moved, the quality has plummeted. We ordered two subs from there today and my bread had mold spots on it and the lettuce was brown. And we both added fries for 2.95 extra, which was funny considering we put them in a small bowl to heat them up and we then realized that for 2.95 additional for fries, we should have been given a lot more! This was our third time here since they moved and today was our last time. Scoobies used to be the absolute best place for a sub and now, I rank it with subway and that's pretty bad. read more

We picked this restaurant because of its high rating on Yelp. But unfortunately we were disappointed with our experience here. We both had burgers. The burgers were nothing special. Better then McDonald's but that's not saying much. They don't have French fries. Only pop in cans was available even though fountain drinks were on the menu. No condiments on the table, you have to ask for ketchup. And only half a slice of tomato on the burger! Had lunch at the new location yesterday. The food was delicious as usual. I even tried a peanut butter chocolate cookie. It was incredible! The service was also excellent as ever. They are all super friendly and helpful. The new digs are super cute but quite small. I'd say it's about half the size of the original building. It's all table/chair and bar/barstool seating. The ambience has an Irish pub vibe which I like. I just wish it was more cozy. One more thing, there's no lock on the unisex bathroom. I'm sure it's on the to do list. Good luck, Scoobies! I've always ignored Scoobies because it looked like nothing, but recently I tried them and I was really surprised at how good the burgers are. The first couple of times my husband and I just got bacon cheeseburgers, but after ordering the second time we notice the chalk board menu on the left wall and we were really excited by the specials. Unfortunately, the Eddie Vedder (goat cheese and strawberry jam) was gone when we came in to buy it today. I was pretty annoyed since we were told previously that the specials don't change much, but I'm still giving them 5 stars because the Black and Blue burger I had in it's place was probably the best version of that burger I've ever had. The prices are really reasonable, there's indoor and outdoor seating, the staff are friendly, and it looks clean. Cons: you may have a bit of a wait even if it's not super busy and the parking can be nerve wracking to back out of. But you can fix both of those by calling in your order ahead of time and walking over from the park. read more

Moved here in December of 2019 & started seeing this place when I started going to the CVS drive up when the coronavirus started in Mishawaka. This is a gem among the restaurants downtown! Greeted with a smile by the OWNER, Greeted with a smile by the front counter person, Friendly & talkative clients coming in & out talking like they were part of the family. GREAT variety of products carefully made, I usually am not a big meat eater unless it is QUALITY thick beef & I have been looking for a QUALITY thick pork loin that is pan fried not deep fat fried which is not their area of expertise, in fact no fried food which makes my cardiologist happy. Anyway, I had the Mushroom & Swiss burger with ALL the condiments they could put on. Took it home due to the coronavirus no dine in policy & opened it up & saw my first favorite thing, pretzel bun! It also included a deli pickle & chips, plus it was at least a 1/3 or 1/2 pound burger. WOW! I wish they had a homemade tenderloin but I'll keep trying the other things on their menu of burgers, subs & pizza's. It is so refreshing to go to these HOMETOWN restaurants that appreciate your business compared to the chains who have only one purpose. Get you in & get you out with bland food that is in most cases boiled or frozen. They deliver. That's a huge plus for a person who works from home, in a town like South Bend/Mishawaka, who isn't exactly a baller. Dine-In tends to be outrageous in the area so when a family-owned business makes the effort to offer delivery, you get all the stars. Plus, the food is great. I usually get the chicken/ham/bacon/pineapple sub and add jalapenos, but I like everything else we've ever ordered, like the Italian sub, the meatball sub, the spicy chicken chipotle sub, or the cheesy bread or the soups they have - we had broccoli cheddar that was just creamy enough and not too salty. I meet with my friends here every other Tuesday. Although I usually get the garden salad, a steal at $3.95, the veggie sub I tried was delicious and for what you get is inexpensive at $4.95. I always ask my friends about their choices and without fail get a thumbs up. IMHO, this is a rare gem; friendly owners, speedy service considering the food is prepared on the spot, prices below what you could reasonably expect, diverse menu, fun musically themed atmosphere and a great location close to my beloved Riverwalk Park. I feel bad giving a negative review to a local non-chain restaurant that wasn't terrible. But I gave it a try because the reviews here were so good, and I feel like they were misleading. Burgers are a major part of the menu here, and the most important part of a burger is the beef. Scoobie's neglects that, and uses frozen patties (or at least you'd have a tough time convincing me that that's not what they gave me and my wife). The toppings were interesting. But a quality beef patty is essential. If I can get a better fresh and not frozen burger at Wendy's (which I can), what's the point? read more

My Mom has always talked about how much she likes Scoobies. I went to Maps and looked up the menu on Yelp. Called in a take out order and when given the time and cost, said thank you and hung up then quickly realized that it was a little more than I expected it to be. I quickly called back and spoke to the same person and questioned the amount. She told me the prices and I mentioned that it wasn't what the on-line menu said, she got a little upset sounding and said that wasn't their website (I had said they should update the menu) and they did update their website. Well I went to the website she gave me and I couldn't get a menu to come up. The burgers were very good. However the baked spaghetti left a bit to be desired. So we will probably get burgers again. I think I would give another 1/2 star or even a 4th one if they had been a little more pleasant after I called back. read more

Best meatball sub I had in long time. Just don't come here for a quick half-hour lunch. It was very busy, and if you add up 5 minutes to drive there from nearby, 5 minutes in line, and 15 minutes to wait for the sandwich, by the time you drive back to work, your late coming back from lunch.
