They have quite an extensive menu and the prices are not bad. I had the Ruben Royal which is a turkey breast, swiss, coleslaw and honey mustard on grilled rye. It was very good. It came with chips and a pickle. My son the swimmer inhaled his cheeseburger and hubby had John's Juicy Jersey which is like a French dip. He really enjoyed it! We both had breakfast. It was really good. Eggs were fluffy, potatoes were perfect, bacon was crispy, and sausage cooked just right. Even the toast was nice and buttery. I ran into wholesale deli today to grab a quick lunch between meetings. I ordered a chicken Philly they didn't have it on the menu but they made it for me anyway. They also had a southwest chicken soup as a special. He gave me the chicken Philly as part of the soup and sandwich special. The southwest chicken soup is one of the best chicken soups I've ever had it was wonderful slightly smoky creamy with onions chicken and black beans. Was in the area for work and stopped in for lunch. Would recommend to anyone in the area. Was in and out pretty quick. The guy taking my order recommended the Rueben. It did not disappoint. The bread was tasted to perfection. The topping portions were layered great. It wasn't like some places that think a bigger sandwich is best. As much as I would love to try one of the many variety of sandwich's next time I'm in the area, I don't think I could bring myself to try anything but the Rueben. This type of place is why Elkhart can't have nice things. The food was fine--nothing special and certainly nothing you can't find elsewhere. I had the egg on a burger for breakfast, and they cooked the egg well and the frozen patty all the way through. The bacon was flavorless (which is a minor miracle, requiring a deft hand and a keen commitment to terrible bacon). The main problem is that they don't clean the restaurant. I was hesitant to put my silverware on the sticky, grimy table (I opted to put it on my book instead). My coffee-cup was a stained member's-giveaway mug from a local bank. When I asked for hot sauce, they brought me the bottle they use for cooking. When I went to pay, the amount of grime visible in the kitchen was off-putting. (Think of some of the diners on Restaurant Impossible.) And they had a healthy flow of business at 9 on a Tuesday morning, which means that they have no reason to clean up their store, or to improve their food. The city has simply accepted sub-par. Why? Maybe for the cost-savings. Who knows? Elkhart won't have better restaurants until the residents are willing to avoid places like this and pay for places that care. read more

Went for the first time a week ago..loved the Reuben. Loved the location. Just moved to Elkhart from Santa Cruz, CA...ate a lot of Reubens on the road trip over. This one was top three. Love making my way down town and enjoying local businesses. This one is a fav. It just reopened under new ownership and we enjoyed our visit/meal today. I got the Frisco chic (delish). My boyfriend got the flip your dip and beef barley soup (also very good but on this one we wish the outside of the dip sandwich was better toasted and less warmed but the turkey was very flavorful) and the soup was delish. We shared the pub fries(loved them) and got both the ranch and dill dips(dressing) because we couldn't decide. The soups and dips and baked goods are made fresh daily and the ranch and dill dips a delish. Also loved our cookies! And the chalk board menu! Can't wait to try breakfast! My one complaint is the containers they gave the soup and au ju in the lids broke on both before we got home and spilled all over everything:( so maybe get some dif ones or pack them differently.
