A long narrow building with a Deli counter on one side and a bakery counter on the other. I was there for the bakery and there were a lot of options. I ordered a Fruit Tart ($6) , an Oreo Creme Brownie ($5), and a Chocolate Chunk Cookie ($2). The Fruit Tart was my least favorite of the items I got it was ok I'd have preferred an Egg Tart, but that wasn't an option. The brownie was excellent. Very decedent and was great with some Ice Cream at home. The Cookie was an excellent cookie and a good choice. All of the items were a little pricey, but not extraordinarily so. The service was good, friendly and efficient. Overall a solid 4 star review for the bakery. Would I return? If I was in the area then Absolutely. Considering I found Charlotte to be a very charming and beautiful town, I'm sure I will be back. read more

Sidestreets Deli and Bakery was a delightful discovery as I was traveling I-69. It is less than five minutes off the freeway and well worth the stop. The service was prompt, friendly and efficient. The interior is very charming and well designed with lots of seating. The restaurant and restrooms were exceptionally clean. The food was amazing with many choices. There were 44 sandwich choices with 13 homemade bread choices. I will be stopping here many times in the future when traveling I-69. I highly recommend this deli. read more

I found this place thanks to Yelpers when traveling through the area and hoping to find something other than fast food. The interior was very attractively decorated and would be a nice lunch spot to dine in. However, I needed to get back on the road so I ordered my sandwich to go. Service was very pleasant, and it didn't take long before I had my sandwich. The desserts in the large bakery case all looked amazing. There were several different varieties of cheesecake, cookies, muffins, and much more. The assortment was mind boggling and if I had been purchasing a dessert I would have had a hard time making a choice. My sandwich was good, especially the bread. I had ordered it on the jalapeño cheddar bread, and it was delicious. I did think the sandwich was smaller than I had expected for $10, and in particular the smoked Gouda cheese was skimpy, the slice was paper thin. Overall a good experience and I would like to return at breakfast time, as the breakfast sandwich menu was intriguing. read more

We LOVED this place. Our sandwiches were great! So was my gluten free dessert! I was super happy there was more than one gluten free dessert to choose from. The service was great. The group of teenage girls working behind the counter were sweet, polite, quick, and hardworking. Finally, the place is decorated SO cute. I could have relaxed here all afternoon. This is a great little place to stop in for a nice variety of sandwiches, soups and bakery items. I actually failed to take photos of the food but did get some of the interior. The place is split into a bakery side and the deli side. They have separate check out registers, but I think they are owned by the same entity/person. The food is in the ~$10 range for the various sandwiches for the most part. The bakery side is between $2.50-$3 per item. We got the chicken salad sandwich on french bread, which I would not do again as it was a bit hard for the sandwich. The chicken salad is made of real chicken and will be like you made it at home. We also got "The Kramer", which was amazing. The bread was some type of cheese bread and the inside was very tasty with enough sauce and meat. I would look at the menu for more details on the sandwiches. We did do a combo with the chicken salad which was supposed to be half a sandwich and a cup of soup, which we tried to seafood gumbo. The gumbo was flavorful but spicy, so be warned. We also tried to of the turnovers. One was the apple and the other was cherry. The cherry needed a bit more filling but the apple was just right. If you want a more homemade experience when going out, this place is worth your time. read more

The atmosphere of the place is nice and the fountain inside is cute. What throws me off about this place is the consistency of service. Sometimes when I order a round loaf of bread the worker will slice it for me, no problem. Other times workers INSIST they absolutely CANNOT slice the round loaves. This highly annoys me since I know it can be done but yet they flat refuse to even try. I've ordered deserts and they're all mediocre, overly sweet or so rich I can't even finish them before I have to toss it. The sandwiches are subpar. Any sandwich I've ordered so far I can make better at home. I've seen the female owner once & she didn't even acknowledge I existed. I will say she did help the worker making the blended drinks when she got backed up, so that was nice. read more

The first time we got a lemon poppyseed muffin, a couple of cookies, a cream cheese Danish, and two sandwiches, The Blackened Turkey Breast and the Guido Grinder. All amazing, especially the sandwiches and the cream cheese Danish. When we stopped through the second time it was morning and we got cream cheese Danish, cream cheese turnover and a blueberry goat cheese scone. So extremely yummy. Walked in as first time customers, sadly walked right back out after not being greeted or even acknowledged. We walked up, made eye contact, I grabbed a prepackaged container of chicken salad while excitedly telling my sister I had been craving chicken salad. Walked over to look at the separate 'sold by pound' cold salads in the display case, no one said a word still. Then we walked over to the baked good side, looked around expecting assistance. One girl comes from the back and goes to do something behind the bakery counter, still no acknowledgement, no hello, no "how can I help you". We're first timers so we considered maybe you had to order or buy things at the two separate counters? Sure wish someone would have said something or assisted us. My sister and I just looked at each other wondering if we were invisible, all while 3 employees stood behind the sandwich counter talking for the few minutes we were in there. Another little place on a sidestreet that few people other than the locals know about (hence the name). They have a great menu of their own sandwiches with authentic names like Time Square Tuna and Guido Grinder. I dropped by for the "LaGuardia". Spicy shaved pastrami, Swiss cheese, chopped liver, onion, yellow or brown mustard, on Jewish rye bread. Comes with a side pickle for about $10. Most sandwiches run between $5 and $10. Good classics like chicken or egg salad too. Soups like seafood gumbo, cheesy potato bacon and Italian wedding round out the lunch nicely. Cup $3.25 or a bowl $4.25. Close it out with a slice of cheesecake for $3 or $4. $1 waters and pops a little more. I had to roll my fat butt out the door afterwards and it cost me about $17.
