This is our first restaurant experience in Lansing/DeWitt. It is an American restaurant with a few Mediterranean options. First and foremost, we loved the ambiance of the restaurant. It is spacious and very cute. The servers were very nice too. We only got takeout but they were wonderful the whole time we were there. There are some vegetarian options for those who need it. We ordered the spinach and cheese pie, the mixed cherry salad with grilled chicken, the Greek wrap, the old fashioned grilled cheese and the veggie burger. We had ordered one plate with chips and rest with fries. We got fries for all of them. But, apart from them, everything was exactly as we ordered. The grilled cheese had a sundried tomato sourdough bread which I really enjoyed. The wrap was stuffed and delicious. The burger was also really good. The salad was a big portion and pretty good. The pie was a little oily but otherwise also quite delicious. The food stayed pretty fresh even 4 hours later, when we actually ate it. I would recommend trying these guys out if you are in DeWitt. read more

The food is nothing special but not bad either just okay. It is a little pricey for what you get. Service was fast and friendly.

The food was so bad my chickens would not eat it. We ordered open face sandwiches both turkey and roast beef. It was literally deli meat smothered in canned gravy. The canned vegetables were mush like they had been sitting in water all day. read more

A quick breakfast stop along the way home from Grand Rapids and it was just a basic looking cafe. There was plenty of seating and everyone was so friendly and very accommodating. I got the vegetable omelette with egg whites and there was a $3.00 additional charge for the egg whites but it was totally worth it. That omelette was so fluffy and stuffed with vegetables that it was awesome! I got the american fries and rye toast. My friend got the 3 cheese omelette and it had cheddar, Swiss and American cheese. He chose hash browns and wheat toast. We both enjoyed out food and would go there again. They have a bell with a rope by the exit so if you were pleased with everything you can ring the bell on the way out. read more

Since the changing of ownership within the past two years, the food is very low quality and the wait staff is very rude. It's hard to mess up breakfast food, however, this place has found a way to do it the last three times we have tried it. We will never go back again. read more

AMAZING! A must try when you're in Dewitt! We dined here last Saturday morning while in town for a cross country meet. Our waitress was very helpful and she provided quick, friendly service. She recommended the cinnamon roll and it was definitely the best cinnamon roll that we'd ever had. The frosting was perfection! We ordered omelettes. They were SO SO good! I had the vegetarian omelette. The vegetables were all fresh and perfectly cooked and our omelette's were not greasy. The toast was made from fresh baked bread. Breakfast really can't get much better! We have a few more sporting events in the Lansing area and we will make sure to stop in for a meal every time! read more

This was the first place I ate at when I moved back to MI a few months ago, it's still one of my favorite places (Thanks Jamie Lou ). Everything about the place just screams "home". I'd drive across town for this kind of service and quality, so it's a minor miracle that it's only a mile away. We were in town for a 5K race and afterward needed a great meal. The Family Tree Cafe did not disappoint! We were a party of six kids (all at their own table) and eight adults--a handful--and our waitress managed our group with humor, precision, and kindness. She easily took our food orders, matching which kids went with which adults, and doled out the food in a timely manner. We never had to wait for coffee or water refills, and our food came as-ordered and hot. Regarding the food: I had the Goat Omelette, and it did not disappoint. The home potatoes (I added onions) were cooked to perfection, too. My son had a huge cinnamon role that he said tasted as good as it looked, and friends reported that all of their various breakfast items were yummy, as well. Lots of menu options, great service, and a convenient location makes this a place that we will return to after each race in the future. read more

We grabbed breakfast with some friends at the Family Tree a few weeks ago and it wasn't bad. One person in our party ended up with the wrong order (country omelette? instead of country fried steak), but other than that the food came out right. I had the country fried steak and it was alright. I liked that it came with eggs and toast, which both were good. I also love that they have more than your traditional grape and strawberry jam options for the toast. I love apple butter and marmalade! Our service was little hectic because they were a little busy but we got everything we needed and we enjoyed our time together. read more

The service started out slow but then our server was great. She had a great smile and was very polite and attentive. I ended up having a hamburger and it was tasteless and my fries were barely done. I had to pay $2 for a slice of cheese and $1 for one slice of tomato!! In my eyes,that is ridiculous, hamburgers usually come with tomato and cheese. This place is wonderful. Very homey, we come here all the time! The food isn't perfect, all sandwiches and melts and pasta, but it's filling and its always nice and hot! The service is amazing, everyone is always very friendly and welcoming, chatty too! The owner's come in a few times to chat on slow days so we've met him personally, even let us try some appetizers that weren't on the menu yet. My usual is the pulled pork melt, the bun and the flavor of the meat are always great, but the pork can be a tad dry without a bit of ketchup added. In all: A great, friendly atmosphere and good, homey food, but definitely don't come here if you aren't ready for a little conversation. If I could I would give a 4.5, simply because the food isn't always the best, but as far as I know most of it is made in-house, so if you want fresh, look no further! read more

This place is a hidden gem! The food is fantastic, really tastes homemade and like it was made with love. My partner and I were visiting from out of town and stopped in here for lunch. He got the coney dogs w/chili and fixins, which came on two buttery grilled rolls and were absolute perfection! I got the cha-cha rueben w/turkey and their house-made kraut and it did not disappoint. Ya know, i remember when it was a very low end restraint before but I just absolutely love the stuff they've done with the place, we went there with a decent sized group and loved it, food was amazing and my burger was just fantastic. Kinda wished that they had bigger tv screens or some more near the back since we couldn't hear the tv in the back and it was a really slow day, but we all enjoyed the time and I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND. read more
