Menemen
Patricia M.

If you're looking for a cozy spot with a simple yet traditional menu, The Social Sloth is a hidden gem you need to visit! The freshly made bread and pastries are an absolute delight, making each bite feel like a warm hug from a culinary grandma. I couldn't resist the menemen, and while it may seem basic at first glance, the explosion of flavors made it clear this dish is anything but ordinary. The ambiance is charming and unpretentious, making it a perfect place for a casual brunch or a laid-back coffee date. Friendly staff, great food, and a vibe that makes you want to come back. I know I will!

Turkish cafe! Great food, great vibes. We ordered Turkish egg, Turkish tea and beef pastries. We also ordered eclairs. I can't discribe how delicious everything was! The egg is mixed with tomato sauce and onion. Very unique flavor. The pastries tasted similar to samosa. Puffy and warm. Prices are unbeatable! I highly recommend this place for breakfast or brunch.

Amazing food and very warm and welcoming atmosphere. The service was what you expect from a small business, which was welcoming and attentive. We also took a variety pack of the Turkish Delights home, out of this world delicious, definitely coming back often.

Delicious Turkish food - obviously prepared with love! Meatballs, beef stew, sauces like whoa, chai lattes, salads, cakes, tahini sweets, baklava, and more! Cute sloth designs and art all over the place. Lovely owners/chefs who give great food ideas and seat ideas ("The plates won't all fit at this table, let's migrate to the bigger table!") ... One of my favorite places to eat in Michigan!

The staff was so kind and welcoming! Best dessert in the area. The coffee was so authentic! Great place for family and friends to gather or studying! 5 stars.

Köfte (Turkish meatballs) with rice, salad, and baklava)

The Social Sloth Cafe & Bakery has been on my list for a while, and it did not disappoint, and most definitely lived up to the hype. I ordered the Köfte, which are Turkish meatballs, and they were delicious, especially with the mint yogurt sauce on the side. The rice was perfectly cooked, and the salad provided a nice complement to the savory flavor of the dish. I, of course, ordered the baklava for a dessert, and it was by far my favorite part--so delicious! I'm happy I stopped by, and will for sure be a repeat customer. I'm hoping to try something new each time I stop by!

Finally had a chance to try Social Sloth and I wasn't disappointed! I tried Turkish coffee for the first time and found it to be very flavorful- I normally like cream in my brewed coffee but this I drank as is, no bitterness at all. It was served in the cutest cup too. I also ordered the Traditional Breakfast plate which was amazing! The service was great and very accommodating. So many items that I want to try so I will definitely be back!

A quaint little coffee/Bakery shop with Turkish Tea, & coffee,". It doesn't just stop there. It's a full on Restaurant with Authentic Turkish food for Breakfast through Dinner. they have Turkish sausage called Sujuk which is a little spicy and very good. And the Traditional Breakfast plate with the Olives, & Feta and fresh vegetables with homemade jams was very abundant & filling. If your looking fort homemade food. Give it a try you will not be disappointed.

Social Sloth wonders why we're always in a hurry.

In in a modest café setting and located in an area with a lot of restaurants, Social Sloth has found a way to stand out with flavors and food found nowhere else in the Lansing area. We had the Mezze combination plate of Kisir bulgur salad, sautéed carrot with yogurt and sautéed broccoli, along with delectable marinated chicken. My companion had the sucuk sandwich, but, really, we couldn't get enough of the Mezze plate. The eclairs for dessert were excellent. This is Turkish food, not "middle eastern," and Social Sloth is well worth the stop.

This seems to be a hangout for the senior / retiree crowd (or at least it was when I visited!). Ordered the Lumberjack Breakfast, which came with three types of meat, eggs, choice of potatoes (I chose hash browns), and pancakes (which I substituted for Belgian waffles for $2). Everything was tasty, except the waffles which were slightly tough. The waitress was friendly, but service was slow. (In their defense, the place was packed.) Overall a decent, inexpensive breakfast; and I'll be back again.

Had a seat and ordered a simple breakfast of 2 scrambled eggs white toast on white bread and a coffee. Out of curiosity I looked over the menu and saw the ~$20 omelletes that have become the norm these days, ridiculous. My order arrived quickly enough. The scrambeled eggs were the typical dried out flat blob on a plate, this is what passes for scrambeled eggs these days, toast equals wonder bread with fake butter on one side. This combination should be $4 max, nope $7. how 2 pieces of wonderbread and 2 dried out, flattened egg beaters is $7 is a mystery to me, those are omellete prices. Now the kicker, cup of coffee $4, this is a folgers crystal special with the little thimbles of "creamers"... $4?? Restaurant pricing has become absurd, yes food is up 15-20%, restaurant pricing is up 80-90% So Fernando's, what can I say, the staff is doing their job, the place is clean, just stop robbing people. I would never go back for sub standard food at premium price points, all you 5-star fanboys keep emptying your wallet for hospital cafeteria eggs and coffee, its your money.

I brought my husband here in his birthday because this place is the only place that serves Indonesian food close to Kalamazoo in Michigan. (Served on Friday and Saturday only) The Indonesian food offers last only until the end of November but i truly wish if they make it a permanent dish on the menu. We ordered beef rending and chocolate lovers toast. (The cafe is specialized in toast dessert) Oh my! I can't discribe enough how delicious both were. The beef was very tender and very delicious. It came with basmati Rice, salad , cucumber and Indonesian crackers. For $17 only. It was a good portion and it eas served in a very eyes satisfying way. Very good deal.100/10 The chocolate lovers toast was beyond our expectations, it came with vanilla ice cream and filled with cinnamon and chocolate sauce. 10/10 The owner cucu helped in celebrating my husband birthday and arranged for the surprise. There was a japanese maids show in the same day taking place at the cafe. Fun and entertaining! I highly recommend this place! And I am definitely considering myself a regular her from now on!

The place was nice and clean and had a nice coffee shop vibe. Freshly made brussel waffles and the combo leige waffles were fantastic. The dark salted chocolate is a Belgian waffle but not your typical "we just used pancake mix to make your waffle". It was amazingly crunchy, sweet and satisfying. Also ordered the protein coffee and it wasn't so hot it would strip the tastebuds off my tongue but a very sensible "hot" coffee. You order at a kiosk and it's nice that they have a picture of every offering on the wall. Service is good. At least to me, place isn't very whimsical as I found the place very plain. Yes, I saw one round elven door but had no idea there were others. It's nice that they had toys and a table for the little ones but placement could have been better or more separated out since toys are between a regular table and the kids table. I assume if more children showed up it would be a bit challenging to be the table so very close to the toys. That said, sit away from the toys and make sure to order one of their delicious offerings!
