Man this place is awesome!! The owner is a very nice and humble person. I brought my husband here in his birthday because this place is the only place that serves Indonesian food close to Kalamazoo in Michigan. (Served on Friday and Saturday only) The Indonesian food offers last only until the end of November but i truly wish if they make it a permanent dish on the menu. We ordered beef rending and chocolate lovers toast. (The cafe is specialized in toast dessert) Oh my! I can't discribe enough how delicious both were. The beef was very tender and very delicious. It came with basmati Rice, salad , cucumber and Indonesian crackers. For $17 only. It was a good portion and it eas served in a very eyes satisfying way. Very good deal.100/10 The chocolate lovers toast was beyond our expectations, it came with vanilla ice cream and filled with cinnamon and chocolate sauce. 10/10 The owner cucu helped in celebrating my husband birthday and arranged for the surprise. There was a japanese maids show in the same day taking place at the cafe. Fun and entertaining! I highly recommend this place! And I am definitely considering myself a regular her from now on!
The most welcoming staff and talented chef, (claimed prev work experience at The French Laundry) This Indonesian restaurant serves lunch and dinner with variety including Indonesian curry, french onion soup and paninis, and of course the famous french toast bites! Their staff speaks great English, Mandarin, and Indonesian. Try it at least once if you are in town!
What an awesome little find! The service was above and beyond friendly which is seemingly harder to find. The Sweet Strawberry Honey Toast was an awesome dessert that reminded me of a strawberry shortcake but way better. I will definitely be back to try the actual food menu.
Before heading home, I looked for places that had outdoor seating and allowed dogs. Toaste was #1 on the list even before putting in the filters. And there's a reason why - it's amazing. The owner is charming and even brought out a water bowl for our dog. The inside of the place is very tasteful, but folks, it's all about the food! And to be more specific, the most wonderful milk bread EVER! It was delicate and crisp on our grilled cheese and hami sammi paninis. But then we ordered the ice cream and strawberry dessert. And it was over the most amazing thick slice of bread drizzled with sweet, crispy honey glaze. Thank heavens we only ate half our sandwiches and excellent tomato soup. If you've haven't been here for awhile, put it on your list. And if you're traveling through and are looking for a great non-chain experience, TOASTE is it.
Everything we ordered was delicious. The owners were very friendly and the service was the perfect pace between entree and dessert. Can't wait to go back and try something else!
We are finally back after almost 2 years & a few times stopped by there this year and they not open ,but their FB account said open now. We bring my mother in law this time for her to try because we love the presentation & the sweetness of the dessert here. If you don't have a sweet tooth, they have some kind of soup and sandwiches to try. We ordered tropical mango, berry berry honey toast & caramel espresso honey bite. They are brought out to our table so nice & fresh with warm toast, some scoops of ice cream & fruits or wafers. Highly recommend to try, their sea salt cream tea was awesome too.

The food is very good, but a little pricey. We had the turkey pesto sandwich, bowl of tomato soup, side salad, black iced tea, along with avocado toast and a cup of tomato soup. The service was great and the staff are family members and very friendly and sociable. You place your order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. The ambiance is very nice. Total price for order, with tip, was $43.

We had delicious grilled cheese (not an everyday run of the mill grill cheese, several delicious versions to choose from) and a hot cup of soup. Friendly and helpful staff (when we told them it was our first time they reviewed the menu and made recommendations).

Everything from the crispy crust, fluffy toast bites in the middle, to the fresh strawberries ooze supreme awesomeness. Love that this place bakes the bread fresh in house on the daily. Simple menu with great flavors and ig worthy double takes. Not too sweet and not a load of unnecessary extra toppings. The toast is definitely the star of this show and I would be down to watch this in replay over and over again. Sea salt cream tea where have you been all my life? A refreshing mixture of black and Jasmin tea...add in a little homemade cream and a citrus zest...made for a party in my mouth. Extra bonus...talked with the owners and received tutorials on how to properly eat the honey toast and drink the cream tea for the most optimal experience...feeling like an expert and appreciate it so much. Don't get too excited to stir up the tea right away...sip it once, sip it twice, then give it a stir...enjoy this lovely liquid libation. Honey toast---open up that crust door at the corners to reveal your toast cubes...the treasures inside are waiting for you to lovingly devour. Excited to make this a place to visit on the reg when I'm in town. #iheartrandomness

Words can not adequately describe how yummy our food was at TOAST today. The (special) Indonesian beef with rice was tender and flavorful. The salad was fantastic. The sea salt cream tea was a taste sensation! I am sad I did not capture a photo of the gorgeous and amazing strawberry toast. Wow! I highly recommend this place.

This place is the cutest and has the most delicious food ever. Their homemade bread is to die for and the sea salt cream tea is one of the best drinks I've ever had. Cucu was so sweet to my friends and I and gave us amazing service. I will definitely be coming back! read more

Absolutely fantastic restaurant that I only regret not visiting earlier! Went for an early lunch with family and immediately felt at home with the cozy and clean atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and personable, taking time to visit or table and check in with us during and after our meal. I had the chicken curry, which was very flavorful and came with a nice variety of sides and a tasty salad. Our group ordered 2 of the honey toast desserts to split and both were incredibly delicious. I'll definitely be returning with friends and family! read more

TL:DR. Excellent, delicious, made-from-scratch meals, incredible desserts, and say "Hello" to Mama Choo-Choo, the sweetest and proudest mother in Michigan. The Long of it all: Toaste has perfected the fine art of flavors. I started off my meal with the turkey and pesto sandwich. Every aspect of this sandwich was on point, from the panini pressed house-made bread that was grilled perfectly to a light golden crunch, to the house-made pesto with flavors so gentle and bright that it complimented every other flavor without overpowering any of them. Each bite was a generous treat of flavors and textures, all playing in harmony. Amazingly, even with a sandwich full of incredible flavor, not once did it's contents fall out, drip, or drizzle all over me or my plate, an experience I have never had with a panini before. Then I had their strawberry toast for dessert, and just like the panini, I was absolutely blown away by the light, fresh, amazing flavors of freshly chopped strawberries presented with a few delicious scoops of vanilla and strawberry ice cream in a bowl of incredible bread. I have never had anything like it. I don't know that I will ever want anything else. My visit just went on and on like this. Anything I tried, I absolutely adored. Two other things that you should know about this restaurant... first, it is very comfortable and inviting. The restaurant is very tastefully decorated, and it creates a very relaxed, comfortable dining experience. Even better than finding a restaurant that feels like home, the entire restaurant was spotless. This entire experience is clearly a labor of love, with every detail painstakingly designed, crafted and delivered. Finally, when you go, make sure you say hello to Momma Cucu (pronounced Choo-Choo), the heart of the restaurant. You can't miss her. She is the one talking to everyone at the register, or happily delivering food to the floor, showing first timers how best to enjoy their desserts, chatting up new faces, or singing the praises of her son, the restaurant's exceptionally gifted, Michelin Star worthy chef. I have never wanted to be adopted by someone so badly in my life. Go see Momma Cucu, you will understand completely once you do. This is easily one of the best restaurants in Lansing, and should be a required stop for all foodies! read more

I've never seen desserts like these before so my friends and I went to go try it out. It was so pretty and cool to check out the desserts as well as the place. you could see it's a nice social spot as well as treated a little bit as a cafe as some students were studying there. I think the regular toaste was a little bit better than the honey bites but it's totally personal preference and you can't go wrong. I was intrigued by the foam coffee that they had and tried that out too. We told the owner that we've never been before and he was soo nice and went over what is most popular and what the different items were. I really wanted to come back during graduation time to take my family here but they were closed for a few weeks at the time. If you're ever in the mood for a new dessert, I'd definitely recommend! read more

The service is impeccable. The moment you walk thorough the front door, the people behind the counter are smiling and greeting you. The atmosphere is very welcoming and cozy. You feel right at home. When we were ordering, the lady taking our order was so nice. She was explaining what comes on each menu item and was asking about where we were from and such. That's going above and beyond. Right now, the place is decorated for the upcoming holidays and it is selling it for me. The soft instrumental holiday music is a nice touch as well. Moving on to the food, absolutely amazing. The avocado toast I got was delightful. You get two pieces, spread in ricotta cheese, a tad heavy on the salt but overall, wonderful. The strawberry toast I got was delightful. I love the combination of flavors and the bread was so fluffy and nice. I will definitely be coming back because I stole a bite of my boyfriends pesto grilled cheese and have been craving it ever since. read more

We were greeted so warmly and kindly. We had t been there and I was very curious about honey toast. She took the time to explain the dessert and options. I chose the strawberry per her recommendation and it did not disappoint. I ate every bite. It was light and airy- really fresh and delicious! My husband ordered the avocado toast. That was avocado mash with what I assume is everything bagel seasoning and sliced grape tomatoes. That was very good as well. I think what made the experience memorable was the welcoming and friendly nature of the owners. They take great pride in what they make and truly want each guest to enjoy their experience. read more

Possibly the best cafe I've been to! Not only is the menu filled with remarkable delights and exceptional choices, Toaste seemlessly provides the ideal environment for studies, small groups, hangouts, or (if you're alone) moments of quiet and relaxation. Although some prices may appear overly excessive, the endearing quality of the simple foods exemplifies profound richness in flavor and character which naturally reveals the true nature of Toaste itself: a home. I have never met any kinder owners than the ones here. They truly dedicate their time and work in not only producing the utmost quality of their foods, but in offering a home to their customers. I went with a group of friends and we were genuinely appalled by their manners and conversations, which made us feel like a part of their family. Toaste has a very serene restaurant that has a modern but homey vibe. The chicken soup was incredible and hearty. The avocado toast was also healthy and on great bread. I went to Toaste with a group of friends because its located super close to our apartment and we saw the great reviews on Yelp. We had no idea what honey toaste was and had no expectations. First of all, the service was great. We were guided into what to order based on our preferences and dietary needs. When we decided on what to order, it did take a little while to get our Toaste, but that was understandable as there were only 2 people working. The toaste was super yummy and was topped with lots of fresh fruit. However, it could be pretty dry without the ice cream, and I think mine could have used a little bit more than what was given. My friend couldn't eat ice cream so she had hers without, and it was pretty dry in her opinion. It was a very filling dessert for the price. I would recommend to anyone looking for a unique dessert in the Lansing area! read more

Ok so this was our first time trying out Toaste. We have been trying for a bit. And I'm amazed!! Great workers! They are so friendly and you can tell they are proud of what they do. The food is so good. The Toaste bites are our favorite. We visit very frequently and Cucu and her husband are wonderful! Very nice staff and atmosphere. They put so much effort into making the toaste look beautiful. We will be back soon! read more

How is it going? When will you guys open again? We miss the tasty treats
They're back open now with a few extra menu items. Please show them some love so that they can stay open ^_^
Are there nut/peanut ingredients in the actual toaste used to build the desserts? I see there are nuts in the building (pine nuts, pesto) but what about in the toaste itself?
A couple of items probably do. It's always good to ask the person at the counter to confirm.
Is there a credit card limit? (As in do you need to spend a specific amount to use your credit card)?
My total was $6.35 and I paid with card!
