So I stopped in for a lobster roll after seeing all the reviews and pictures but I didn't know that was a summertime thing only. Since j already made the trip I figured might as well get something. So I ordered a two scoop ice cream. Churrio, strawberry cheesecake with brownie toppings. I was expecting plain ice cream but the flavor of each was so overpowering in a good way I'm not sure how they did it! With every bite I tried to figure it out until finally I stopped and just enjoyed!! read more

The cost of renting in Lansing is unreasonable and good food is hard to come by, Babes is 1 in a million. The food is excellent, staff is incredibly friendly, and the atmosphere is killer. But with the move to Washington Sq. and only 5 hours a day, not including dinner time, is even more killer. We used to eat at Babes 2-3x a month if not weekly and was always a treat (including the great ice cream). But since the move our weekly dinner spot is no more...please extend your hours! A very important thing for me is when a vegan menu is offered that it is robust. Babe's delivers this in a way that is very refreshing, with both vegan/ vegetarian options for almost every single menu item featured side by side. I loved my Vegan Lucille sandwich, which was reminiscent of a Turkey Caesar salad sandwich/ wrap, and the lemon cheesecake milkshake was out of this world! read more

I love love love babe's weekly sundaes! I've tried a handful of their weekly sundaes and I have to say my favorite was the lemon blueberry with crumbles of lemon cake. High quality ingredients that you can truly taste. Would def go out of my way to eat here. Service isn't really excellent from the owners but hey they concoct some pretty delicious sundaes. I've tried their subs and not the biggest fan of their bread. Regardless come for the sundaes!! read more

Love all the vegetarian/vegan options they have here. Got the vegetarian Fran and the cranberry mayo on the sandwich was unique and delicious. They even have vegetarian turkey/ham on some of their sandwiches which I have never seen at a restaurant. As a Tofurkey fan, I am thrilled about this! Great location from downtown. One of the best sandwiches (hoagie) I've had in years. So glad we were able to stop by for the first time today. We got a whole Edna, which was huge for two people, and a small shrimp chowder (amazing!) You need to get the fox family chips, I wish I knew where to get them in a bigger bag. I went on a date with Edna tonight. I went full, adding bacon and Muenster because if food doesn't have bacon and Muenster on it, I won't eat it. Let me tell you, Folks, my taste buds were blown away. I could only eat 60% of it before I was stuffed silly, and each bite was better than the last. The bread was fresh, light, and delishy. I'm genuinely surprised there aren't more reviews of Babe's! Their hoagies are top notch and packed with toppings. I'm not a toasted sub person, but here it's a must. They recently added pizza, and have rotating soft serve specials. This is one of my favorite lunch spots and I highly recommend the Betty hoagie. I hope they bring back lobster rolls in the summer! read more

Usually the food is good, service and ambiance are okay. Well today I received rancid lobster meat in my sandwich. My partners food was also disgusting, the vegetables, the meat, none of it was good. Gross, funky, and rancid, are the words we are using to describe the food. The service is usually subpar, I've had a great experience with one certain cashier and that's about it. The rest don't seem to be too kind or friendly. We took one bite of the sandwich tonight and had to spit it out. Absolutely disappointed as a regular. read more

Bartender was knowledgeable and attentive. She knew what she was doing. I recommend sticking to beer if you are drinking. I ordered gin and tonics and got their own gin ("Hard Nose Gin"). It did not appear to resemble a traditional gin, but the description describes it as "juniper-forward". It was alright, but not my choice. I stopped by the night before and had a couple of pints of the Blood Orange Blonde, which was EXTREMELY good. I have never tried any of their other beers, but, given my experience, there appears to be a lot of promise there. Overall, a very good experience. I recommend. I still think they need to cut down the sauce on their olive burger - by a lot. But the flavor was very good. And the burger was cooked to my liking. I will definitely visit again. I get to the Lansing area a few times a year, and I'll be back.

I suggested another place closer to the hotel with much better reviews for next year dinner before our meeting so I don't have to come back here. Many in our group agreed.

It definitely looked like a great place to relax at, there were quite a few tables and they were all filled. We did not get any of the baked goods; it all looked appetizing though. Next time I'm here, I'll get a cold brew.
