I saw the high reviews and they did not disappoint. The establishment doesn't have much curb appeal, but you are greeted with a warm and friendly welcome upon entering. The employee described how they made their fresh sandwiches and what they had to offer. After it is assembled, they can even toast your sub on a panini maker. I had the King sub, which was fantastic, along with a combination of discounted chips and a fountain beverage. They also offer homemade cookies and soup. Flat-top seating with an essential atmosphere. Clean restroom. Bottle soda, water, and sports drinks are available. I will return and recommend. read more

anytime someone asks me what my favorite food is, i'm too indecisive to choose just one. i end up just saying "sandwiches", because it's a good and easy umbrella. so many different cultures have their own signature sandwiches, and the little details can make all the difference. i live 1.5 hours away, and work in lansing down the street five times a month. i go out of my way to make sure i get to get a sandwich from here, though. it's next level. simple ingredients, but they're so high quality that even if you bought the nicest stuff from the grocery store, you'd be hard pressed to out-do this place. the suppliers they get their produce from are EXCELLENT. im not a big tomato fan, but i never ask for things with "no tomato." i expect them to be gross and have to take them off, but 9 times of 10, King Subs has the most delicious fresh tomato slices that it makes me wonder if i ever disliked tomatoes? but i realize its because their veg is delivered in its peak ripeness. the flavor is incomparable. i always get the #1, 16 inch. provolone cheese, lettuce tomato onion banana peppers. the family who owns this place is so nice, so awesome, so accommodating. i can't eat the entire big sandwich at once, so they'll dress only one half of the 16 incher and mark the one that has dressing on it so i can eat it and save the rest for later without it being soggy. they're fantastic. i didn't even mention the insanely reasonable pricing. in a world where a skimpy bootleg subway sandwich costs $14 to recuperate corporate costs, King's seems to have priced themselves at just above breaking even. they're never not busy, and they still go out of their way to ask regulars how they've been. i've seen their clientele-- i'm part of it. while they're busy, you're never waiting longer than 5-10 minutes. genuinely never had an experience here that was less than 10/10. which is a big deal for me, i can usually find something to critique in a deli sandwich like this. but this IS the standard. any sandwich i make at home pales in comparison. and that's why i always go there anytime im in town. well priced and a delicious sandwich + a pop will run you less than $10. you should try it. read more

I'm a regular at JJ's and thought that I would try King Subs. It is across town for me (about 5 miles). It was worth the drive. Meat and cheese were sliced while you wait. Lots of ingredients for you to choose. The fresh baked bread was good; however, I like a chewier bread. More meat and cheese than other sub shops. Do not judge a book by its cover! This hidden gem is a great option for a quick sub. The staff was very friendly and inviting. There was a decent size line but they had it down to a science and moved people through efficiently. The best part is that they are slicing your cheese and meat right in front of you when you place your order! I ordered the regular deluxe club and added lettuce, pickles, mayonnaise, mustard, and oregano. This sub was fantastic and left me full for the rest of the day. The bread was so soft and the ingredients were very fresh. The prices are beyond reasonable as well. This will be my new go to sandwich shop near the Lansing airport! read more

I stopped by here because they have glowing reviews on the Lansing Foodies page, and they were absolutely right. The building has a nice, spacious parking lot and they have signs up for social distancing (but I went at an odd hour so it was empty). I ordered a regular size Italian sub and regular size deluxe club. They were both incredible. The guy making the sandwiches was chatty and so friendly! They slice the meat per order and it was so fresh-tasting and delicious. I ordered both sandwiches not pressed because one would be lunch the next day (possibly sacrilegious but it was delicious so who cares) and they were amazing cold, although I imagine they'd be even better pressed. Next time!! He tempted me with a cup of chili that they just started selling, which was SO good. read more

Looks can be deceiving, this place may not seem like much on the outside but the inside is hustling and bustling with workers from all of the area as well as families standing in line waiting for one of these awesome sandwiches. Each one is handmade on homemade bread the meat is sliced as you ask for the sandwich and they Grill it for you if you want I wouldn't say it's the type of place you take your family and sit down and eat but to grab lunch and take it home it's definitely worth the trip. Jersey giant used to have the same bread but they really screwed themselves and changed their bread. The people at king subs are always friendly and nice. Comparable to Jersey Giant (I hate to compare restaurants by name but in this case it really is the best way to explain the feel of King Subs to locals) but much better prices, friendlier staff (Daniel, the owner, is a genuinely kind hard worker who really gets to know his customers) and usually faster service.
