Went here right when it opened at 11 am on a Saturday. Place was nice, very midwestern with a lot of animals on the wall. Waitress was very and fast. We got a starter of the cheese bread and it was gas, super good, one of the best breads I've had in a long time. I ordered the club sub with tater tots and was pleasantly surprised it was good. I had set my expectations really low based on the reviews from others. The inside is quirky and seems to be a local go to spot for the locals. The waitress was nice and attentive to our needs. The ambiance in here is cozy and inviting as well as the staff themselves! Never had a bad server here and they're always quick with the food! As far as the food goes, there are many options for whatever you like but my favorite item is the turkey club that comes with house made chips! I was there about a week ago but will not return. It wasn't busy and l ordered a coney dog and chicken sandwich. I was the first in line and after waiting 15 minutes in which time 4 more cars pulled up behind me. Plus, there were three more young women who were busy socializing. There were probably 4 people inside, so it wasn't busy. The coney wasn't as good as Spartys. It wasn't warm and they forgot the cheese on my chicken sandwich. No, I will not go back. Well the place certainly has ambiance and is very manly if you like hunting but heck says it's a lodge so why would you be surprised? Lots of cars in parking lot so I thought we'd try it. We ordered take out and picked it up. Takeout service is at the bar and that's no problem. Bartender was quick to acknowledge me and get our order. So no issue on the service. Now the food: the food doesn't travel well even if it's only going down the road 10 minutes. I order the fried fish and it tasted like it had been previously frozen rather than being flaky when you eat it. It was even a little bit hard to cut with my fork, so I got out a knife. I had to microwave the fish for at least a minute in hopes that it would be cooked a little bit better. Fries are OK and coleslaw bit goopy. Overall, it was just OK. The other member of our party that ordered the grilled chicken sandwich said it was good, although the restaurant did not include the lettuce and tomatoes that we asked for with the sandwich. One of us got the crab soup and said it was good. Overall, I guess we would try it again, but we would eat in and order something different. read more

I am a newbie traveling healthcare tech and the menu for this restaurant was at my job. I got my first paycheck and decided to treat myself to a good meal. I eat healthy during the week and go a bit crazy on the weekends. I had Virgin bloody Mary (damn heart med!!) it was garnished with pepper Jack cheese, pepperoni, pepperoncini, and pickle spear. It was so delicious and just enough heat. The pepper Jack crab soup caught my eyes on yelp. It did not disappoint!! Sooooo flavorful and not overly creamy-cheesy just a great mix of creamed soup with ample crab in every bite. Then onto my first bison burger which I special requested patty melt style with tomato slices. I asked for the onions to be well done but they weren't. They were nice and sweet so that helped, onion rings, bbq sauce to dip, and pickle chips. It was all delicious!! Then I got the carrot cake to go. I took one bite of course and it was pretty sweet!! I will nibble on it over the next few days (dang A1c sensitivity) Next visit I'll for sure eat outside but the indoor ambiance was like a lodge with deer heads every where and mellow atmosphere. Flat screens all around. A good solid local favorite I would assume. Brittany my waitress was newly employed and took great care of my wants. When fam and friends come visit this is definitely a establishment I will be bringing them to dine. I will be back with or without them!! We found ourselves in the area and in need of lunch. This parking lot was full and that was all the recommendation i needed. My buddy ordered the Leo Burger and chili. I ordered the Philly steak sandwich and the gumbo soup. The chili was good but I highly recommend the gumbo! The burger was good and so was the Philly. Our waitress Missi C was great. We were tailgating and the heavens suddenly opened up so we came here to watch the game, drink and have some food. The service was slow, our server forgot my drink and seemed frazzled. I got a burger & fries. My fries were gross & overcooked but somehow still cold. I only didn't ask for new ones because the server didn't come back for 20 minutes or more and at that point I figured I wouldn't get any better. The burger was meh...not something I would get again. Had lunch there a few times. Was pretty decent. Good food and nice bartender. Today after work however.. a very annoying and combative man tried to engage me pervasively. Not the establishments problem right? The bartender let this man annoy me after repeatedly telling him I didn't want to talk to him. I struggled to finish my beer while looking for some help from her. As I left he hurled a verbal assault and still nothing from the bartender for help. FYI.. it's part of your job to realize a drunk prick making a quiet patron feeling uncomfortable. Religion and politics should not have to be discussed when unwanted. I've been there the 3 times. Great place for American style food. The pepper jack crab soup is wonderful! It is definitely one of the reasons we go there. They do have a plethora of additional plates and foods to go with the soup. You will find a dish for just about everyone in your group. The barbecue sandwich is very good along with the burgers. Always a great time at Leo's Lodge. We prefer to sit at the bar as we feel the service is better. Julia the bartender is always busy but still takes the time to make sure you are taken care of. Last Friday I went back for lunch and tried the Venison Burger ($13.99) with a slice of Cheddar Cheese. ($1.00 extra) Topped with tomato, onion and lettuce, this was a tremendous burger. This is a fun little place. It has that cozy log cabin feel, but provides the sports-bar experience you look for. I have been twice. First for a burger, next for an appetizer and beer. Both times were to watch MSU basketball. It's a few miles from campus, but close to a lot of student apartments. However, it definitely doesn't attract the student crowd. There's really no need to go into detail on this one. It's a quality place, with great burgers, and great cheesy bread. It's definitely towards the top of my list of Lansing area restaurants. read more

The group of people I went to training with decided to come here as a group. We came in during a busy lunch rush, but got seated immediately. Unfortunately, we all ordered items that take a but longer. I ordered a burger. We realized we did not have enough time. When the waitress came, we asked if she was able to bring boxes and the check, in case we needed to rush out to drive back. The waitress was super kind and accommodating to our needs. She brought boxes and the checks. She came back quickly as well the collect the bills to that we could tip and get our card back. She apologized for the time it took, but it was not her fault. It was our fault for thinking we had time to sit and dine. I really loved the atmosphere in this restaurant. It was quite nice inside, and the waitress was kind throughout. Sadly, I was in a rush and could not take any pictures. I am hoping to visit this place again some day and add pictures. read more

The dinner started out promising with the pepper jack crab soup being tasty and the Leo's bread lived up to expectation. The service was slow on a Friday night. The time to get our drinks took over 15min and we didn't get everything requested in time. The waitress appeared to be frazzled when order was placed. When order was finally received it was incorrect. One order was supposed to have tots and fries came instead. While the pork sandwich tasted good it was barley warm and the fries were cool and seemed to have been sitting for a while, a sandwich was sent back, it was supposed to be grilled and was slightly warm and on the backside was soggy and the tots were over cooked and warm. The steak that was ordered md rare could not be eaten due to the meat being tough and fat line not being edible. When waitress told this the sandwich was taken back and replaced and the tots were worse. The steak was not redone due to not being wanted at the time. The waitress appeared annoyed that food was sent back. I do not send food back. Not once did a manager get informed that two items were returned. I was highly disappointed and will not return. read more
