Dining room

If you can get over the smell as you walk into the restaurant, then give this place a try. The staff is nice and the food is good. I checked out the bathroom for kicks since it's right by the entrance, but I will definitely wait till I get home. It is not ADA compliant, and it's...well, small and dark. Maybe if I were enjoying beers and cocktails with a bunch of friends, I may not notice, but be prepared. The dining room is split -- the bar area and tables covered with tablecloths/paper -- like an Italian restaurant. They have some widescreen TVs and the music is not too loud, which allows for nice conversation. This restaurant is not in the best neighborhood, so don't leave valuables in your vehicle. The patrons appear to be regulars and comfortable, kinda like "Cheers." Norm! I ordered the French Dip and my husband ordered the Reuben, our go-to sandwiches. The portions are big! My husband really liked his Reuben. He liked my French Dip as well, especially because the bread was so soft. The fries reminded us of the old days...eating Ore-Ida fries with home-cooked meals. I wasn't as impressed, but perhaps my taste buds were just not cooperating. Warning: There is an extra charge when paying with a credit card. Glad I asked before paying.

Wet burrito and Burger from the brunch menu
Jenna M.

Second time here and happened to stop in during the weekend brunch hours. It was a limited menu but it all sounded great. We got the wet breakfast burrito and burger. Wet burrito has beans, eggs, potatoes, chorizo, topped with mole sauce and pico, avocado. The best burrito I ever had!!! The burger was also delicious with two huge patties and egg on top. Staff were friendly and service was quick. Love the homey feel inside.

I've only had their pizza, but I've had it on multiple occasions and it is consistently good. The deluxe is our favorite.

We walked in and were greeted with a long communal table all set up with a tablecloth - they do a Thanksgiving potluck each year and there were a ton of people there already. We luckily got a booth with some good views of the few TVs they have and the crowd was friendly and all decked out in Lions gear. The bartender was super friendly and let us know that the food would be ready in about an hour. It's free to eat as much as you want, and they had TONS of food, including at least 3 turkeys, lots of sides, desserts, and it looked like they were setting up for a mac and cheese competition. I kept saying how nice it was to have this spot for the community and it really felt very welcoming. I love the ornate bar, with the stained glass and big wooden griffins (we think they're griffins anyway). It's such a cool place and if I lived nearby I think I'd want to be a regular here. It's always nice to feel welcomed in a townie bar like this and I think we have a new Thanksgiving tradition!

You won't be disappointed! It can get busy some nights but there's plenty of spots to sit and stand.

Riesling was very good quality. We ordered the steak bites and wedge caesar to start with. Both were delicious, however, steak bites were expensive ($17) for only four pieces. Caesar wedge salad we added bacon which made that go from $14 to $17 as well. Salad wasn't a fresh wedge, but a chopped caesar salad. Dressing was a bit heavier than I'd prefer but it was an overall good salad. For entrees, we got the Jerk Chicken and the Garlic Shrimp Linguine. My bf enjoyed the jerk chicken and sauce. He wasn't a fan of the green beans. I enjoyed the linguine and it came with about 5 jumbo shrimp which was plentiful for the meal. Pasta was a little bit oily but still delicious. The bar was decorated with the theme of valentines with a big heart which was nice and on theme for the upcoming holiday. They also had a humidor full of cigars that you could purchase while there. Outside of the price point being a little higher than the quality presented, it's overall a nice one-of-a kind establishment in that area with a unique vibe. Really good upscale, grown, and sexy spot that plays r&b, soul and hip-hop music.

I mean come on - this place is full of brand spankin' new "pleather" couches and flat-screen televisions... What's sketchy about it? That said. It's over priced. They have nicer seating than most. And offer some cool all glass hookah pipes but it's not worth the 20% boost in cost (compared to Blue Midnight, which is next door). One other complaint: I hate it when Hookah bars line the front of their store space with "other" smoking paraphernalia. I'm not a prude or anything but smoking a hookah pipe is equivalent to smoking a pipe or a cigar. That said I think there is a real marketing flaw in lining the store with expensive bongs and marijuana pipes. It projects a crap message: that hookah smoking is equivalent to smoking other things; I'm fine with pot smoking but it's a crap marketing move and it'll alienate some of your clientèle. Case in point: this might be the reason Matt C. describes the place as "sketchy," I don't know him so that's just my educated guess. All in all: it's okay.

Kinda sketch, but I somewhat expect that from a hookah lounge…read more Looking like it was decorated by a freshman who had access to a large amount of black-lights and bonded leather sectionals, Six Lounge has a comfortable, albeit "youthful," atmosphere for smoking shisha. They have a large selection of flavors to choose from, and tend to be attentive in adding coals. They additionally have a small selection of drinks to choose from, but no external drinks may be brought in. If you like smoking shisha enough, they even sell pipes and tobacco for you take home. While not my favorite place in town, it is opened late to appease the bar crowds. Since many people don't stay out too late on weekdays, this makes Six Lounge a decent place to study at night.

Something to know before you go, valet is essential. While there's a nearby public parking lot for $20, we went with the $35 valet service--it was convenient, especially with luggage and a dog. The hotel is dog-friendly, which we really appreciated, though the $75+tax pet fee felt a bit excessive. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated with a University of Michigan theme. It was charming and really well done. I liked the main staircase lined with vintage-style portraits. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed coffee from the on-site café, and the Graduate Rock Bar had stunning views of the city. We enjoyed watching the Sunday night sunset. Our room was clean and nicely styled but the bed and pillows were uncomfortable to me and I didn't sleep well. Also, the luggage carts were frustrating to use because they were difficult to maneuver. One thing we loved was the green space around the hotel. There were plenty of parks and trees nearby, perfect for walking our dog. Also I wanted to mention that many reviews comment on how crowded this hotel is but that wasn't our experience. We went on July 7 and I'm guessing because it's summer, we had zero wait. We were greeted at the reception desk right away, there was plenty of seating at the bar (outside and inside) at 9PM, and in the morning when the cafe opened at 7AM, we waited in line for less than 5 minutes.

Going outside is even better. Was a bit cool on an early November weekend but not bad. Ended up getting a table inside by the window. Needless to say it was pretty darn crowded. But it really took just a bit to get waited on at the bar. Bartender was exceptionally nice. That was really the only thing was that you're paying for the view because drinks are pretty high. We didn't eat anything so can't talk about the food. However, if your 1st time to MSU campus (not ours...went there over 40 years ago) great way to check it out.
