Absolutely loved visiting Red Cedar Spirits for the first time. I am a sucker for a deal so I bought a Groupon for a distillery tour, appetizer, and two cocktails to go and my significant other and I paid a visit just before it expired for date night. They have a full menu of house-made craft cocktails and wine, with three board options for appetizers. The charcuterie board comes with the Groupon but they let us get the Mediterranean board instead. We opted to take the appetizer to go because they had a food truck on-site (Suns Out Buns Out) and we wanted to give it a go. I tried the Oak Berry Buzz and Cranberry Clove Punch cocktails and my significant other tried the Gold Rush. We had no complaints about any of our drinks and our favorite was the Cranberry Clove Punch. We got the Pixie Elixir and Lavender Bee's Knees cocktails to go and we're looking forward to trying them. They have on-site bourbon samples if you want to try a small sip of their option straight, and they sell bottles to go as well. All-in-all, we enjoyed our visit. The customer service was great a

Amazing place to relax and grab drinks! Really high quality cocktails. They have the perfect little munchies that are simple but still something yummy to snack on. It was a unique and relaxing atmosphere when we went and I'd love to go back.

So wonderful. The cocktails are crafted with a careful hand and I love the ambiance. It's a great break from the traditional bar scene and such a nice, relaxing place to chat and share stories with close friends. A small fireplace is in the far corner, giving the entire space a homey feel. You can play board/card games or just hang out - there's a small selection of meat/cheese/bread trays, nothing big (and they're a little pricey) but nice to chomp on. The cocktails and spirits are definitely the star here. The staff is phenomenal as well. We relied heavily on our server's recommendations, and she gave us some great ones. I have a hard time describing cocktails, but Red Cedar Spirits definitely made me question why I have ever spent money on cocktails that were not as wonderful as these. I'm not sure when they have the winter cocktail menu (*) available until, but we had the following from the winter menu: Chai Latte - as told by my friend, "it's literally like a boozy chai latte!" Tri-Apple-on - I had this one. It's like someone extracted everything that makes an apple delicious - the crispness, the tang, the tender sweetness - and put it into a cocktail. it's not an apple. But it sure captures the essence of an apple well... That's what I was hoping for and that's what I got :) Gold Rush - so unique! definitely a more "mature", harder to place flavor... but with a nice bourbon-y finish. From their classic menu: Ginger Gimlet - fresh, clean, and like a moscow mule but with none of the filler. garnished with candied ginger. My friend almost started crying tears of joy when she tasted this. Thyme Collins - "This is something you'd drink on the porch of a huge farmhouse during a sunset." Greyhound - Friend finished the night off with this. It is pleasantly grapefruity but not in a saccharine way. In a few sentences: GO HERE. It is worth every penny, and tucked away in the neighborhoods of East Lansing, is truly a hidden wonder. I will be back again and again!!

Tasting room for MSU's artisanal spirits program. They distill whiskey, bourbon, rye, brandy, gon and vodka. Amazing products and knowledgable staff, a gem just outside East Lansing. Only open Thursday to Sunday.

Wonderful locally brewed distilled spirits. Try this place out. I'll be back. Hard ciders, brandies, whiskeys and wine. Great people , too!

The countless times I have entered and felt the entire mood of the place and then suffered through it. I am not an old codger, dear reader. I am fairly optimistic, yet the most expensive issues for dining out are costly. For my time, my wallet and value. With that, I am pleased to offer "Cooperhawk Winery and Restaurant." It is beautiful. Inside and out. It is for the connoisseur and the starter. It is priced right and there is something for everyone. Ordinarily, I would dismiss this type of venue. But it was the occasion of our anniversary and my wife is a wine girl. So I did it. And when we walked in,,, it was stunning. The first thing you will see is the grand wine wall with a long bar in front of it. This is where you can choose wine tastings and flights. Get a little something before dinner. They asked me if I was a card holding member. I laughed and said oh no. By the end of the day, I was. And am glad for it. The staff treats you like you are welcomed guests. Kind. Intuitive... and helpful. They are educated and know their stuff. The wine tasting was outstanding with the Sommelier addressing every facet of the drinks we were trying. And it was delicious. We were called for dinner and sat in the main dining room. Beautiful. Warm. Clean. Immediately, our server showed and wished us a happy anniversary and brought us complimentary champagne. (When you reserve your seats, it asks about special occasions). A bonus. We had a warm soft pretzel loaf with butter as we waited. My wife ordered a filet mignon platter which she defined as excellent. I had a chicken dish with outstanding potatoes and fresh green beans. More wine please. We imbibed. While we were full from the main course they still brought out some truffles to seal the deal. We decided to join the club and got a membership. 2 bottles of exclusive wine a month for $50. A fair value as with it comes wine tastings, complimentary glasses of wine when visiting and several offers a month. We have been back several times, and each is better than the last. I encourage you to come a half hour early to enjoy the spirits and relax before your meal. 10 out of 10.

The cali roll is so-so. The chicken hibachi was overcooked and not much flavor. Comes with plain rice. I asked if I could get more veggies, another staffer said yes. Never saw one more piece of veggie at all, beyond what comes with the hibachi. The croque monsieur is ok, not super flavorful, the cheese on top seems like an afterthought. The crab Rangoon dip was decent. Wontons are nicely fried. Pitas aren't too bad. The smoked Gouda is quite good, the cork screw noodles are perfect with the cheese blend. The pad that is just okay, could have used a lime and some bean sprouts. Bar feel inside. Glad they have booths, my mother feels more comfortable in them, more closed off and protective than a table and chairs in the middle of the dining area. Our waitress wasn't too bad. Did end up interacting with other staff for items. We asked one waiter with chin length hair on his left side and short or shaved on the right side to take a picture, he looked annoyed and couldn't be bothered to take a picture of my family. He only took one picture and it was bleary and far away. Glad this sour grape didn't wait on us today. Phew!

Our server, Will, suggested a wine that turned out to be spot-on: a dry, subtle Chardonnay, nicely chilled and presented in a granite cooler on our table like it was royalty. Loved that detail. The entrées did not disappoint. My husband had the salmon, delicately enhanced with salmoriglio, served with wild rice atop a light bed of bok choy and baby carrots--simple, fresh, and perfectly balanced. I had the crab-stuffed shrimp, which was absolutely fabulous, also with wild rice, baby carrots, and that sneaky little layer of bok choy you barely notice but totally appreciate. It was a busy Saturday night, so definitely make reservations--it's worth it. The atmosphere struck the perfect balance: lively but not loud, elegant without being stuffy--the kind of place that makes you feel justified putting on heels and lipstick just because. Something to know before you go, valet is essential. While there's a nearby public parking lot for $20, we went with the $35 valet service--it was convenient, especially with luggage and a dog. The hotel is dog-friendly, which we really appreciated, though the $75+tax pet fee felt a bit excessive. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated with a University of Michigan theme. It was charming and really well done. I liked the main staircase lined with vintage-style portraits. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed coffee from the on-site café, and the Graduate Rock Bar had stunning views of the city. We enjoyed watching the Sunday night sunset. Our room was clean and nicely styled but the bed and pillows were uncomfortable to me and I didn't sleep well. Also, the luggage carts were frustrating to use because they were difficult to maneuver. One thing we loved was the green space around the hotel. There were plenty of parks and trees nearby, perfect for walking our dog. Also I wanted to mention that many reviews comment on how crowded this hotel is but that wasn't our experience. We went on July 7 and I'm guessing because it's summer, we had zero wait. We were greeted at the reception desk right away, there was plenty of seating at the bar (outside and inside) at 9PM, and in the morning when the cafe opened at 7AM, we waited in line for less than 5 minutes.
