The fried chix bucket with champagne was a great disappointment, especially given all the previous reviews. The chix was burnt on the outside and raw on the inside; we sent it back, and it came back even more burnt on the outside. I don't think the cooks know how to prepare this product, and the restaurant should avoid serving fried chic, especially when KFC is better and cheaper. The waiter was not even apologetic, and he did not offer any concessions for the huge problem, as we had to wait for a redo and our bread and champagne were gone by the time he brought back the redo. This is not a great dining experience. At the very least, the restaurant should have comped this meal. read more

Despite having grown up in the area, I recently stumbled upon Bridge Street Social while visiting and found it to be one of the better dinner spots around Dewitt/St. John's. The food we got was delicious, and the restaurant had a cozy ambiance with great service. The owner, who happened to be there when we visited, was knowledgeable about wine pairings and very accommodating and friendly. It's a great place for a date night or a get-together with a friend, and a refreshing alternative to the numerous chain restaurants in the area. The restaurant is relatively small and intimate with dimmed lighting, but you can book reservations in advance. Overall, it's probably one of the best spots I've eaten at in that area in a long time, and I will definitely be back when I'm back in town. read more

This is another one of those establishments Yelp was designed for. DeWitt isn't that far of a drive from my home, but I happened to be nearby for work. Of course I'm gonna Yelp the area and see where my fellow Yelpers are gonna take me. I'm not a wine person, but I definitely am a burger and beer connoisseur. I needed a quiet place to do a little work on the laptop too so I headed to the Bridge Street Social. I got there shortly after it opened and was seated right away. The staff were super friendly, and it's pretty obvious they love working here. I order the wagyu double cheeseburger and a beer they had on tap. I have to say everything about this burger was on point. Well seasoned smash patties, fresh ingredients, and a perfect sauce. I'm not a huge fry guy either, but even those were tasty. The interior of the business was small. There's a couple walk throughs into additional dining space from a room next door, but I'd suggest sitting in the main bar area. It's not a big space but that's where all the action is. A cozy place with friendly staff and even friendlier customers. Parking can be a little a little bit of a walk on busier nights. There's a few spots available out front, and a few more down the side, but the rest are about a block or two away in nearby downtown lots. I ended up coming back a couple nights later because I wanted to bring my GF. We drove from home which was about a 30 minute drive. It was well worth it. We got the smoked meatloaf that is OFF THE CHARTS!! Meals can be a little pricey, but it's well worth the drive and the cost. If you want a cheap meal, order off a fast food dollar menu somewhere else. You want an all around fabulous meal, great atmosphere, and friendly conversation, I'll see you at the Social!! read more

Bridge Street Social has great ambiance and great service. Our server Erin was polite and made sure we were comfortable. We ordered the Broccolini as a start and it tasted phenomenal. Great taste with a nice spicy blue cheese mixture. My date and I ordered the Waygu double cheese burger and the ragu pasta. The burger tasted amazing and was delicious, the fries were wayyy too salty which was a shame because they were cooked perfectly. The best restaurant in Lansing is not in Lansing. It's in Dewitt: the Bridge Street Social. The decor is eclectic but fun and tasteful and the food is excellent. They also take time to have fun with the menu: fettunta or yummy garlic bread. Try the duck wraps with Fresno Chili's which makes the dish and thankfully they know how to make French fries. My bf and I have eaten here twice in the last few months and the second time took a friend who was visiting from Colorado. First time we went in we didn't realize we should have made a reservation. Hostess was great when she saw our disappointment though and we were able to get seated even though it was busy. Sommelier was great helping us choose wine, as I prefer a white and he prefers a red. Server was wonderful helping us choose dishes. We both ended up getting different pasta dishes and both were super flavorful, fresh and seasonal. The burrata appetizer was light but flavorful. The bread pudding was ok, but too caramelized and that flavor overtook everything else. The goat cheese ice cream with the bread pudding was amazing though. Second time we came, we did make a reservation. I was surprised to see how slow they were, though for a Wednesday night in Dewitt maybe I shouldn't be. The sommelier again was amazing and very receptive to our requests. We ordered three apps to share (by his recommendation), the Brussels sprouts, the carrots and the empanadas. All were good but the sprouts stole to show. I ordered the lamb ragout, which was amazing and such a large portion that I couldn't finish it. Our friend ordered the special that night (I don't remember what it was), and was very happy with it. My bf ordered a pasta dish with scallops. When his food came out, it had mistakenly been put in the shrimp and the server took it back right away to bring a fresh plate with scallops. Pasta was very good. It is so nice to find a good restaurant in Dewitt that serves seasonal fresh dishes. And bonuses for the speak-easy vibes and excellent service! We will most certainly be back. read more

I have never been to a restaurant with more knowledgeable wait staff. Our waiter was fantastic and really knew how to recommend his menu- especially pairing wines with dishes throughout the meal. My partner ordered the lamb ragu and I ordered the chicken schnitzel both of which were fantastic, but what really sold our trip there was the carrot cake we ordered for dessert. Great independent gem! We were looking for a place to celebrate our daughters graduation from MSU. Luckily for us all the high end usual suspects in East Lansing were booked up months out. So I had to search a bit and found BSS. We were able to make a reservation and this place did not disappoint. Our server Joe who is also the GM, sommelier and server was fantastic. From his wine recs to his knowledge of the menu! We tried the filet, mahi mahi and the pastas along with the buffalo moz and tuna appetizers. Everything was top notch! I so wanted to give this place a higher score but for the simple fact that the burger, which I was told was one of two menu items that remained constant, was raw in the middle despite being ordered medium. I understand that mistakes happen but if it's your "specialty" there really isn't an acceptable excuse for serving raw meat. On top of that. I sat staring at the raw burger for at least 15 minutes before I gave up on someone coming back to say, "how is everything?" and finally got up and tracked someone down. To be fair. Everything else was exceptional, including the new burger that was cooked perfectly. 1. Tuna Tartare = A+ 2. Brussels Sprouts = A (a little oily and maybe a little heavy on the balsamic or whatever make them sour but seriously the ONLY Brussels Sprouts I've ever liked and finished!) 3. Charcuterie Board = A+ 4. Wine = A+ Robert was a great server and they did take 1/2 off the burger for the inconvenience. Our first visit a few years ago was very good, but much better recently on our second visit. Took so long between because they didn't use to have enough vegetarian options and it was super crowded. Decided to try again because I saw they had added more vegetarian entrees. We caught them on a slow Tuesday night this time, so had some of the best seats and excellent service. Consistently one of the best eateries in the area. Last night had a perfect dinner, again. Started with the butternut squash hummus with lamb. Not a combo or ingredient combo I'd think of but I'm not a chef. I'm not a big fish eater but the Mahi Mahi over crisped rice with the chile lobster sauce was perfect. The fish was perfectly cooked and flaky. My wife had the always good wagyu cheeseburger, and dessert was a pumpkin bread pudding with a tawny port and Madeira. As usual the wines were excellent also. Started with a bottle of Tempranillo and at Joe's recommendation had a very nice Sancerre with the fish, which paired perfectly. Pumpkin bread pudding, tawny port, and Madeira topped it off. The service and atmosphere were top notch as usual. I cannot say enough good things about this charming restaurant and bar. The two gents who were working tonight (I apologize, I'm so bad with names), were the most gracious and hospitable hosts I have ever had outside of New Orleans (I am from New Orleans so it is a natural standard to hold every other restaurant experience to). The lamb ragu was excellent. It was surprisingly delicate. When I order ragu, I expect a red sauce. This ragu was blonde. It was creamy and herby. The lamb was not ground as I have had in other ragu dishes. It was more like a shredded texture. There were nice sized pieces of lamb which I found very pleasing compared to the homogenous ground lamb I have had in other dishes. The wine selection was very good; I am by no means an expert but I generally drink Pinot noir. I decided to try a beaujolais. It was light and refreshing. The gentleman behind the bar described the flavor profile to me. It was very nice to hear about despite the fact that all I know about beaujolais is that the wine is aged for less time. I had a second Beaujolais varietal which was more full bodies and fruity and I enjoyed it immensely with the lamb. I highly recommend this little treasure to anyone looking for an elevated dining experience. I was dining alone which is often awkward but they even managed to lessen that awkwardness and make me feel at home. I will definitely return to this gem in Dewitt. read more

I would say this is best restaurant in the Lansing area. I have been there 3 times and it provides inventive dining, stellar drinks, and a great small town restaurant with elevated flavors. The space itself is very inviting and there's a cozy dining area that horseshoes around the bar. The staff are incredibly friendly and informative and provide really great suggestions and recommendations. They know their menu inside and out and really want you to enjoy your meal and experience. To start with, the drinks are fantastic. Both the cocktails and the wine list. Every cocktail I've had there is great. Their wine list is impressive and their sommelier has a great eye for wines. They recommended a wonderful wine for me on my most recent visit that paired really well with my meal. The food is equally as good. Some of the highlights includes the Brussels Sprouts appetizer, Duck Enchiladas, Carrot Hummus (outstanding), and the scallops. Overall, this is the best restaurant in the Lansing area and it's worth the trek to DeWitt for big city flavors in a small town. We didn't have a reservation for a party of 6, but they were able to fit us in on a Friday night fairly quickly. We grabbed some drinks at the bar while we waited (10-15 min). They serve over 100 bottles of wine by the glass, but also have a full bar. We sat and ordered appetizers (Brussels sprouts & cheese plate) and oh my goodness the pomegranate glazed brussel sprouts were so original and so delicious. Would definitely recommend.
