Solid stop for food and draft beers! I come here once every couple of months or so with friends to grab food and a beer and never leave dissatisfied! The service is very friendly and they work as quick as they can. Can be a little slow to get food at times but everything is made to order and very fresh so worth the wait! As far as the ambiance goes, you wouldn't be able to tell from the exterior but the inside is very vibrant, lively and inviting! Plenty of televisions for the sports lovers out there as well. Lastly, the food and beer. The menu is a little small but I do believe it has something for everyone and I'm never disappointed with my choices. The burgers are especially delicious! I also love the draft beers they offer on tap, the Vanilla Java Porter from Atwater Brewery being my favorite! (If they still offer that one) Overall, this may not be my absolute favorite restaurant in Mason but it is up there with the best in my opinion! read more

As far as food goes here, I'm rarely disappointed. There's been one or two things I tried that weren't for me but that's not to say others wouldn't like them! When it comes to ambiance, it's cozy inside and I like the fact that the windows are tinted so you can look outside but people can't see in...it's a simple pleasure but its appreciated haha. Lastly, the service...never had a reason to complain or consider lowering my tip. The service is always on point, though I will say the food can take a little long at times so just prepare for that but they make it with love haha. I guess if I had to say anything bad about this place and not give it a full 5 stars is that their portions for the sides are a little lite, menu is a little limited and they also don't make it easy to see the menu online. The food was pretty good. We had the grinders and they were huge, on nice bread. Fries were crispy. Nothing too special but it was satisfying. The shaved ribeye had a decent flavor. The place is a little divey inside- decor was cool but the tables and chairs had seen better days. A fly buzzing us spoiled some of the meal. Servers and Managers are incredibly nice. The owner on the other hand, Joe Ghinelli, is an absolute joke. He doesn't care about his staff and or customers, unless you are his "buddy." I was going to host a good size birthday party there and he couldn't even come over to speak to me while he made eye contact with me from across the bar hanging/drinking with his buddies. The staff is terrified of him as was the bartender who had to talk with him. I'm not kidding, she was TERRIFIED of him. Her exact words were "I'm not suppose to bug him... but.." I genuinely felt sorry for the staff that had to be around him. A former employee/friend also told me that he "only cares about his regulars and isn't interested in new business or events." Great business motto, Joe! If you are considering throwing a party or any sort of event here, DON'T! He blatantly told his staff he didn't care about it and wasn't upset that no one called me back.... for days. I made the reservation five months ago and now had to relocate the party less then a week and a half out because they weren't willing to accommodate us. What an absolute joke. I feel awful for the servers and managers that have to work for him. They are the ones who are losing money because of terrible leadership. We came to Mason as a quick stop to check out a small town here in Michigan. I will say this is one of the cutest little towns I've ever been to and love the atmosphere of it. We happen to come upon this place because you're walking around doing a little photography and saw the sign for the special for the garlic burger with fries. So me and my buddy laid up coming in here after his wife was looking around at an antique store. We walked in and fell in love with this restaurant. It definitely had that small town feel which I love about restaurants like this. You know they make everything from scratch and get all their items locally which I do love about eating at places like this. Our server was very polite and very helpful with us ordering off the menu for the kids. I really enjoyed my garlic burger with fries. Everyone at the table enjoyed their food and enjoyed the environment that just felt like home. I definitely want to come back here to try some of their other food since I definitely enjoyed every bit of it. read more

I've been twice now. Once just for drinks another time for burgers. On my last visit my fiance and I stopped in after wandering the antique shops down the road. The pub has your typical selection of pub food. I had a double cheese burger. It was huge and getting it in my mouth was a somewhat daunting task. I also got a beer. Both were quite good. my burger and beer cost about 10 bucks. My fiance's burger cost something like 6. So all in all it's a pretty good deal. Our waitress forgot about us at one point but otherwise it was a good experience. Definitely one of the better spots in Mason. read more

This has got to be one of the worst pubs in the Lansing area. Long wait,bad service and terrible food. I ordered their specialty of the house soup a crab pepper jack. The crab was imitation with the texture of runny mashed potatoes. Awful. I also ordered a side Caesar salad it came with iceberg lettuce only and croutons. If you're going to serve imitation crab you should put it on the menu and if you are going to serve a Caesar salad then it should have romaine lettuce not iceberg. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly service makes this a great place to meet up for food and drinks! Upscale menu with reasonable prices is a refreshing thing to find in a pub setting. I love this place!!! Every time I go I get great service. Everyone including the other customers. Just some of the great food: Wet Burrito, Waffle Fries (try there marshmallow sauce!) We found a coupon and decided to drive from Lansing down to Mason to check out this restaurant. We were excited that it was in the downtown area which is pretty cool. When we walked in we were surprised they were so busy. The atmosphere was OK, kind of like a diner. The bar area is a little bit better. The food was average, along with the prices. My hamburger was nothing spectacular. My potato fries were extremely burnt. The beer prices were also about average. They have very few beers on tap. The worst part of our experience came when I used my credit card to pay the bill and noticed after the fact they added a service charge for using the credit card. The waitress did not say anything ahead of time, and I certainly did not see anything posted. On the way out we saw a sign on the back of the entrance door, which of course we would not have seen walking inside. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. I have never in my life been to a restaurant that charges a service fee for using a credit card and then does not even bother to say anything. I had plenty of cash on me, but used a credit card for convenience. I said something to the waitress after I paid the bill and she said they charge the service fee to keep the prices down. That is about the lamest excuse I've ever heard. Any business could make that point. I will not be coming back. read more

We are new to town and were hoping to find a friendly new pub. Missing my old one. We were totally shocked when our bill had a 4% charge to use our credit card. We had seen no notice about this policy and when we asked we were told it had been that way 2 years. Well, we have not been in town 2 years. So next, we were told there were signs "all over". Where? There are funny, colorful signs all over the walls, but i saw nothing near our table or on the menu. Then a manager (in my opinion quite rudely) said we could walk across the street to the atm, and "all the stores in town are doing this or will be soon" - which I have not seen - and there were signs posted "everywhere". Again we were told it was an old policy (again I said we were new in town and the friends with us are from out of state). An apology would have been nice. We had no cash shortage so she rang the bill up again without the 4% added fee. On the way out I looked and saw two copy-paper sized black and white, small print signs about the policy, one by the front door and one on a hallway, hung at 3 feet off the ground, telling about the fee. In a place with walls covered in funny colorful plaques, a 4% fee should be posted on large signs, up where they are noticed, and it should be on the menu. I was embarrassed and disappointed with the rudeness of the manager and will be looking for another place to spend my money and bring friends. If they change the policy or post it CLEARLY it would be a different issue. read more

Conventional pub menu. Nothing wrong with that if it's good food done right. And I was hopeful. But when my Reuben arrived with a pouch of Marzetti's 1000 Island dressing on the side, my hope sank. Tough corned beef, nothing special about this sandwich. My son's Buffalo wings were average. Over cooked sweet potato fries. Overall, nothing offensive but nothing that would bring me back. Stopped in here for what we thought would be a quick lunch. It wasn't very busy but the service was very slow. Our waiter was nice and apologetic, but not sure why it took so long for 2 sandwiches? That being said, the sandwiches were very good. I got the steak & mushroom slapper which was delicious and he got the club slapper...and his was even better! Everything is better with bacon right!? Everyone in the family had cravings for a Ruben, just no motivation to cook it ourselves. Thank goodness, the courthouse pub makes them traditional or in the turkey variety. They make them with the thousand island on the side, which I really rather be on the sandwich but otherwise perfect. Choice of fries, or try the poster cheese soup. It's pretty tasty. Bar is a little noisy but the seating in the dining room is quiet and well suited for families. read more

The food is not as good as that provided by the prior owners under the name of the Mason Jar. There specials were much better and at times more than a person should have eaten. Had the fish and chips one evening and they were over cooked a nearly need an ax to cut them. Service has always been pretty good. Like the fact that were finally available to expand into the building next door. The metal ceiling does make very noisy with a large drinking crowd. read more
