    Homemade root beer

***I write this review as a non-beer drinker*** Old nation is a brewery located at the downtown curve in the small town of Williamston. It is a large venue that is open and bright with plenty of seating and parking. My dining companion is a beer connoisseur reason we selected Old Nation to visit. We stopped in for a bev and a snack and opted for the pretzel and cheese, a giant homemade root beer and a beer. Everything we had was delicious! We sat at the nice sized bar and the bartenders were great! There are plenty of TV's for game day also! Not a bad seat in the house. We will probably catch a football game there yet this season!

Saturday afternoon for a late lunch. While busy was able to get immediate seating. What we liked: * Dale our server was absolutely amazing. Friendly, great attitude as. Super helpful. We would go back again and again just for Dale! * The beer was cold and delicious. * The wings- loved the crispness. * the Pasties we're big. * overall fun environment and a good time. What could of been better: * Pasties we're big but needs some seasoning and mine had parts that were still doughy. Had a great time and will go back.

Love old nation for the beer! Every time I go, I sit at the bar. Good food - nothing to rave about but their home made baked pretzel is really good! Their whole grain mustard and honey mustard are my favorite! I personally don't love the beer cheese but my fiance does! The service was good. Ambiance is ok. There was no music playing which always seems odd to me! B43, M43 and B43 Grapefruit are our go-tos! Thanks ON for bringing the grapefruit back! We drove out there today just to purchase!

The Boss Tweed Double IPA. Packs a punch!

Yikes! So Steve and I did an IPA outing here at Old Nation. This has been a brewery I've been wanting to try for a while and I finally got my wish. We got the Boss Tweed Double IPA and boy does this IPA have a bite and a punch. Granted I started drinking it just a few minutes before eating but it definitely left a buzzy impression on me. Coming in at around 9% abv I suppose I shouldn't wonder why too much. This hazy, smooth IPA also packs quite a punch in flavor which is why I said "yikes" at the beginning. It's a good beer but a bit on the intense side. So be judicious with this one. But again, still an enjoyable drinking experience!

Sparty on!! Go Green! Go White!

We both needed tagabrews from here so we hopped in the car and took a day trip. This is one of our favorite things to do together. I can't wait for things to start opening up early again so we can get an earlier start. But for now we make it work. He made a reservation which was probably a good idea. They weren't packed but it was pretty busy. I ordered a brown (big shock haha) and he ordered an Oktoberfest. We then realized my beer was 9.1... I am a lightweight!! So when we finished, we ended up trading and I drank what he had and he had what I had. Lol. Our waitress, although very sweet, seemed very off. Like when you talked to her she looked confused. I almost thought she was stoned or something. She was also pretty slow, and it was difficult to understand why. It wasn't very busy and there were enough servers. The other waitress was bubbly and on top of things. It was sort of weird. He ordered the pulled pork tots and was unfortunately disappointed. There was very little pulled pork on them and quite underwhelmed. I ordered the salmon salad and it was amazing! Nice portion size and full of flavor. Overall the beer was great as was the food. And we would totally come back! They participate in hop passport so we both got ours stamped which gives you 50% off two beers. So we got 4 beers for the price of 2. Can't beat that! Hop passport is well worth the money and we will definitely be renewing it for next year. We have a lot of plans to come! Stay tuned!

Service is great! Beer is low-end. Food is small. Glassware is great. Busy but I don't know why.

In fact, after my visit, I think I actually appreciate its rough appearance. As soon as I walked in, I felt like I was entering "the real deal" of craft; nothing fancy - just quality. In addition to his beers, he also makes his own spirits and the whiskey was absolutely phenomenal. I'm not a huge whiskey guy so I'm sure a "snobby" person may have a different opinion but it's most definitely worth a shot during your visit. The owner, who was working behind the bar, was extremely personable and seemed to make quick friends with every guest that came in. You could tell he takes a lot of pride in his craft. I will be back and will make sure I bring others with me to experience this hidden gem.

When you pull into the parking lot, it can be hard to tell which building the brewery was in. Particularly since there was snow covering the signs. Once we figured it out it was an adventure from there! The ambiance... It reminded me of a mix between a basement bar from the 70s and an old West bar. The owner, Bobby, was awesome! He was so friendly and relatable. We learned all about his farm, his family, and his animals. Love it! He introduced us to his amazing black garlic gin. I mean it was delicious!!! He made a great bloody Mary with it, and it was one of the best I have had. He also sent us home with some garlic and horseradish! We tried some interesting black garlic which was the consistency of a gummy bear and delicious. I can't wait to go back in the summer months. It was such a beautiful place!
