Lobster bisque and grilled cheese sandwich
Karen W.

Cozy spot hidden in Diamondale, friendly service. Quaint local vibes. We had 2 beers- MorningLory and Pineapalium- both were awesome. The lobster bisque is to die for, and the grilled cheese browned to perfection. Another menu option is to build your own grilled cheese, which we will have to try next time.

Cute little local hang in Diamondale. Has always been busy every time I have been there. Locals love it. Great beer selection. Food trucks. Perfect combination for this small town. Join the brew club lifetime membership is only 75$. Get bigger pours. And the inside scoop on what is coming up next

I haven't been to a Jolly Pumpkin in years, and when I saw it was near the hotel I was staying at,…read moreI knew I had to go back to see if it was as good as I remember it. I was with some friends and old coworkers when dining here, so I wasn't dining alone today. I was surprised there wasn't more people here since it was happy hour, but such is life. I ended up getting a hamburger with truffle fries as an upgrade since it sounded tasty. The burger was fantastic, though I wish it was a bit bigger. Truffle fries were good and it came with a really tasty dipping sauce. Our server was good but she did disappear for a while and when she did come back, we all asked for additional beverages. The place is clean with plenty of seating inside and I'm sure outdoor seating when the weather gets nicer. I'm not a huge drinker so I know they have a good beer selection, but didn't order since I wasn't really feeling it. Overall a great experience with a great menu, would return in the future.

Nate and I stopped in for a quick drink and a snack while in town and were seated right away in the bar area. I think they are pretty well known for their pizza, but we just went with an order of the buffalo chicken dip, which was bubbling hot and a large portion (we had plenty of leftovers). It was quite salty, but I guess that's to be expected. The chips were fresh and crispy and I liked that they give you some crostini as well. The drink prices were wild -- I got a large (maybe 20 oz) seltzer for $3!! I couldn't believe it. Service was friendly, basketball games were on the TVs, and I liked our visit. I think we'll be back next time we're in town.

In fact, after my visit, I think I actually appreciate its rough appearance. As soon as I walked in, I felt like I was entering "the real deal" of craft; nothing fancy - just quality. In addition to his beers, he also makes his own spirits and the whiskey was absolutely phenomenal. I'm not a huge whiskey guy so I'm sure a "snobby" person may have a different opinion but it's most definitely worth a shot during your visit. The owner, who was working behind the bar, was extremely personable and seemed to make quick friends with every guest that came in. You could tell he takes a lot of pride in his craft. I will be back and will make sure I bring others with me to experience this hidden gem.

When you pull into the parking lot, it can be hard to tell which building the brewery was in. Particularly since there was snow covering the signs. Once we figured it out it was an adventure from there! The ambiance... It reminded me of a mix between a basement bar from the 70s and an old West bar. The owner, Bobby, was awesome! He was so friendly and relatable. We learned all about his farm, his family, and his animals. Love it! He introduced us to his amazing black garlic gin. I mean it was delicious!!! He made a great bloody Mary with it, and it was one of the best I have had. He also sent us home with some garlic and horseradish! We tried some interesting black garlic which was the consistency of a gummy bear and delicious. I can't wait to go back in the summer months. It was such a beautiful place!

Kristina, the manager, personally stopped by, introduced herself, took our drink order, and gave us some helpful menu recommendations. That personal touch really set the tone. Food was excellent. I had a build-your-own burger that was awesome, and we also had the Rachel, which was fantastic. Drinks were equally strong: beer, cider, and a margarita flight that was a lot of fun. The stout was especially memorable because it reminded me of Lion Stout, which I have not seen in years. That alone gives me a reason to come back. Between the hospitality, the food, and the drinks, this ended up being much more than a simple meal. Also appreciated hearing about their Beer Mug Club and Sunday brunch. We will definitely be back.

I scoured the web for the best sounding wrap I could find and finally set my sights on Grand River Brewery. I ordered a Santa Fe wrap to-go, got there before it was even ready and was home to eat it within 5 minutes. To my dismay they had left the spicy ranch off the wrap. It was dry and unpleasant and that was an unfortunate tell of what was to come. It was accompanied by an odd tasting pickle, which particularly hurt my heart because I am a woman who loves a good pickle. This next part was especially jarring because the ambiance of the restaurant really seemed like they would have good fries, I'm sure they would be good fresh, but the ones I found inside my to-go box were not that. Sad, hard, dry fries that tasted and felt like they had been sitting out for hours. Truly disappointing. In summary, twas certainly a mistake to treat myself to this TWENTY ONE dollar meal that didn't even include a drink...21 dollars for a horrible wrap, horrible fries and a weird pickle. For that price I was really expecting the best wrap I've ever had, I could not have been more let down. My Venmo is grace-shoemaker- if you're feeling sympathetic to my experience. Thanks for tuning into my blog.
