We with my partner. Ordered the chili cheese fries and a burger special, coke and water. Menu says the coke is in a can, but it's a fountain beverage. The fries were too spicy to eat and sitting in deep oil (not chili sauce). Wanted ranch but nobody was around to serve us. Service: The waiter took our order then disappeared for the remainder of our time there. The bartender served our food, the disappeared. We had to flag someone down for condiments, napkins and silverware, a refill (not free, but didn't say as much), and our bill. The bill we received and the price they charged was at least $6 because they totally changed it when they scanned my credit card. Ambiance was ok. They had a band arriving. But no staff. An odd experience, probably won't go back given the extra charges on my credit card and lack of service. read more

We stopped in on Monday for lunch as we were traveling with our pups. Bill was setting up the patio as we arrived at 11. He graciously made us feel welcome and we got settled. We ordered the Viva La Summer which was crisp, bright and aptly named. The patio is a perfect place to bring your pups, even offered bowls for them. The generous portion of mushrooms were good. The conch fritters with marmalade were outstanding! Definitely looking forward to coming back. read more

Summerlands is an expansive spot offering both indoor and outdoor seating and plenty of parking. The ambiance and service were friendly and chill. We arrived right after the brunch rush which seemed like a more laid back time. The decor is fun and hosting large gatherings would be easy to do here, perhaps not for sports though as the TV situation would leave one disappointed. The drinks were good and our waitress seemed knowledgeable about the different brews. The food was edible but nothing special. The jerk flavor was no where to be found, the Tex-mex nachos looked promising but they too were lacking in flavor. The fries, could be cooked a bit longer. I would, however, recommend the chicken bowl. read more

I went for the first time for Trivia and dinner with friends. Very nice staff and good food. Trivia was fun too!

Met up with a friend while in town. We all had not been here so this was a new to everyone. My husband and I had already had dinner so we did not try the food. Our friend had their taco special and said it was delicious so it would be worth a revisit to try the food as well. I'm a dark beer girl, so I ordered their Coffee Stout and Lil' Pepe, a porter with cocoa and chili peppers. I really enjoyed the coffee stout. The porter was good but I could have used more chile nose and a hit of heat. My husband had the Kolsch and liked it. The beer was crisp, clean and to style. The service was great! We were welcomed in and our questions about their various brews were answered. There is a decent sized parking lot and they have an inviting patio set up. Had it been warmer, we would have sat out there. Overall, a good stop! read more

After the business owner reached out asking me to give his brewery another try, I did. Figured it was the right and fair thing to do since my first and only visit was when they first opened. This time, I brought a friend who has never been there and left my opinions from my initial visit to myself; I wanted to get his thoughts without my influence. With that being said, this updated review is based on a combination of his and my experience: The bartender was very friendly and attentive. Not trying to take away from his customer service abilities but it probably helped that there was only one other person at the other end of the bar... who may have been napping. Regardless, he greeted us with a smile and didn't take long to make sure we were served. An improvement! We both ordered the same taco dinner meal and were served slightly above warm food at best. The "corn tortillas" were actually cheap hard shell tacos shells which was not expected. My friend had to force down some guacamole because he said he got a big bite of "bad guac", beans and rice were a combination of over seasoned and over salted while the tacos were bland. It was a really strange combination of cheap, over seasoned, under flavored, and barely warm. I only drank one beer while I was there, which was the "All rye'led up porter" and I gave that a 2.5 out of 5. Interesting flavor where the porter notes kicked in at the end. Didn't hate it, didn't love it either. I can see why other people could really like it though. As you can see from my previous reviews, I really do not seek out writing negative reviews, nor do I take any pleasure in it. I truly went with an optimistic attitude in hoping that my previous experience were just new business woes. In the end, I asked my friend what he thought and he said, "It was a really strange setting... I probably won't go back." I appreciate the owner reaching out and offering to make things right and inviting me to give them another try. More than most would do. read more

We ordered their heavily advertised Easter Sunday take-out dinner for a 4 pm pickup time. it wasn't ready until almost 4:30, with the excuse that "somebody ordered their take-out for Saturday pickup and we thought it was you." That made no sense, as we received an email reminder Sunday morning. There was no other explanation--or apology--and the bartender became surly and walked away. We won't be back. read more

My wife and I have been here several times. Our first visit was actually before their grand opening. That visit wasn't great as most of their staff didn't show up for work. Every visit since then has gotten better and better. You can tell they have put an emphasis on training and trying to create a great experience for their patrons. The brews are, in general, very good. The food has been delicious. The ambiance is nice. We like that they do have some live music while not being intrusive of the ambiance. You can still have a nice conversation while enjoying the music. The tropical theme is a nice change of pace for the Lansing area. read more

We went to Summerlands for a birthday celebration. Bill, our server was very attentive and had great recommendations for food and beverage. I had the seafood quesadillas and my husband had the fish sandwich. Fabulous! The beer is some of the best brew we've experienced. Went on a Sunday, didn't know you had to order from the brunch menu. Place wasn't busy but waited almost an hour for food to come. Only one plate came ...there were 4 of us. We were waiting for the other orders to come, but after 20 minutes we got up to leave, just as the other food came. The food didn't appear cooked properly and the previously delivered plate was now cold. We paid for food we didn't/couldn't eat and left. Maybe other days are better, but for us never again. We eat out all the time, and will not be back. We wanted Summerlands Brewing to be delicious so badly. We do not have an atmosphere like this in the Lansing area. Unfortunately, the food looks good, but is TERRIBLE. We ordered the conch fritters as an appetizer. They were bland. The key lime mustard mousse dipping sauce was good. The Tex-mex nachos were AWFUL. There might have been 10 chips on the plate. The chicken was hard and dry as though they had left it in the oven to melt the cheese too long. The nachos also had very little flavor. The menu said the guacamole was made fresh daily. This may be true, but it is made with bagged guacamole which had pieces of tomato and pieces of fresh avocado in it. It was not homemade guacamole. The craft beer leaves much to be desired. The list of craft beer is short, but has 2 coffee stouts. The server confused the beers in the fights we both ordered. We then watched another server bring out 2 full pours to the people next to us and she told them she didn't know which one was which and they had to guess. Probably a better option would have been to go re-pour the beers remembering who ordered what. When you sit at the pavilion outside, it is completely empty. No bartenders, no bar, just an empty, vacant space where the patrons can stare across the void at each other. So the atmosphere is not what we were expecting either. 10 out of 10 do not recommend. You are better off making the drive to Block Brewing in Howell if you are choosing to spend your money eating out. read more

The beer was good. The service was OK but they just opened in June 2024. But their food was EXELLENT!!! I had the fish sandwich, which was HUGE!! My mom had the seafood nachos and they were AWESOME!! Very tasty, I'll be getting that next time!! I'd recommend them for lunch or dinner! read more
