Consistently great food, but feeling more and more like the staff have better things to do.

Mr. Jacob our server was so outstandingly awesome! The food was delicious but the experience with Jacob was even better. I will be back again for the server, love him!! read more

Wow! All of the Stars! Tavern 109 in Williamston is such a cool spot. It used to be a bank, and is now a quaint exposed brick, retro ambiance restaurant. I felt like I was in a movie with Johnny Depp playing John Dillinger, or that Al Capone was going to race down Main Street leaning out the window letting his "typewriter" lose, with a black and white cop car screaming up behind him. It just puts you in a different period. And the food! My goodness. We ordered the Hot Honey Chicken Pizza, Jalapeño Artichoke Dip and my wife got a side of the Ginger Carrot Bisque. Phenomenal, all of it. I don't know what I enjoyed the most. The pizza was a perfect 10" size, with incredible flavor and crunchy crust. They certainly do not skimp on toppings. The artichoke dip was insanely good! The naan bread was baked to perfection and sprinkled with a perfect amount of salt to complement the dip. The soup was a good as it sounds too! Service was top notch. We were seated immediately (around 9pm) and our waitress was very helpful. She made sure our drinks were topped off and kept us up to speed on the status of our food. We will absolutely be back and we will be recommending Tavern 109 to all of our family & friends. read more

Service is pretty quick, but the bread is kinda dry. Want to try again though because they have good drinks

Our server, Patty, was helpful in choosing menu items; she was courteous and knowledgeable and right there when needed. I ordered a blueberry edelflower drink, one of their signature drinks, it was very good. I ordered chicken piccata w/mashed potatoes & beans. The chicken was a generous portion and tender. One of the best I've ever had. My husband ordered a pork dish that was on special and he too felt it was very good. The chef had creative dishes, so we will be back! read more

Hubs and I headed here a few weeks ago after picking up a for-sale-by-owner car in a close by small town (without such a charming restaurant option). There was close free parking nearby, and the downtown is so sweet and easily navigable. We chose not to get drinks as we still had a bit of a drive home - with two cars now. He had a burger, and I got the shrimp & grits. Both were great :) The location is adorable, and I think there were signs that they can host events as well. It was like two locations side by side, but I got to see both by heading to the restroom. Would definitely enjoy dining here again if we were in the neighborhood. read more

Great food choices and atmosphere choices! Family for dinner side or social bar side. Either way, you can't go wrong!

I stop for an evening wine. House white Zin. Service was courteous and polite. I found the atmosphere to be cordial, nothing exciting. Street and rear parking. read more

Ordered a gluten free flatbread and was served a regular crust. Unfortunately I was two pieces into the pizza before I realized :( Never saw a manager and was charged full price for my meal. Not looking for freebies but food allergies can be extremely serious. read more

Elizabeth was our very attentive server. We stopped in before a basketball game. What a gem. We ordered drinks, then placed our entree order. My husband had the homemade chicken noodle soup, which was seasoned perfectly. Very good. I started with the house salad with champagne vinaigrette. Salad was fine dressing was good. I had the shrimp and grits and he ordered the Cajun shrimp fettuccine. Both entrees included choice of salad or soup, unusual these days. Both entrees were hot and so delicious. The grits were creamy and cheesy. The dish had just a hint of spice. The Cajun shrimp was very good. Overall a very pleasant meal in a quiet, comfortable atmosphere. read more

The food and service were both outstanding. Additionally, the carrot ginger bisque and the potato leek soup were amazing. This feels like an upscale restaurant and the menu reflects that. The entree's were solid as well. Our server Katie was phenomenal! I do not give out a 5 very often. This is one of these times. read more

We love coming here when we are in the vicinity because of the great food and beer selection. (Our son and daughter-in-law used to bring us here when they went to grad school at MSU.) We stopped in today for a beer and they were out of almost every beer we like...on tap and bottled. Not everyone likes IPA's and Stouts. Lol. No red, blonde, wheat, Pilsner....we survived. We will stop in again for the food and hope for a broader beer selection. read more

Had a great high school graduation celebration dinner at the tavern. We did not make reservations until the night before for 10 of us at 8:45 PM. They did not hesitate to stay open late for us, and didn't mind when some in our party were delayed by 15 minutes. They placed us in a private room on the bar side, and our server Tori was outstanding and so sweet. Our food came out hot and fresh and everyone loved what they ordered We had never been here before, but this is not the last time we will come in! read more

What is going on with williamston. I was having a nice family dinner with my son and my new husband, and all of a sudden we realize we are eating paper. We got the cheeseburgers and there was LITERAL PAPER IN IT. My son Antonio got sick from eating burnt paper, and my husband is very upset with me. THEN my son Antonio got a hair in HIS cheeseburger(along with the paper) and he choked on the hair. IT WAS CURLY! AND THE WORST PART IS THAT WE DIDNT GET A REFUND!!! read more

We had made a reservations for four on the Friday of Homecoming at 4:00. We were there promptly and seated but not to the high table we requested. The hostess said we could pick any if we wanted but she placed at a table near the archway in the bar area. We ordered. Food delivered pretty promptly. Fried fish was over cooked but eatable. Chili and meat loaf dinners were ok. We were just finishing up our meal, and our waitress picked up our dishes . Still working on our drinks, when she asked us if we wanted coffee or dessert. We declined. She walked away and then immediately came back and said I'm going to have to ask you to leave as this table is reserved - at five o'clock. I was dumbfounded as were my guests who were from out of state! I have never ever been asked to leave a reserved table because it had been reserved, again. Not to mention that there were many open tables. I use to like this place and would often recommend it to friends. I don't think we will be going back for a while read more

Takeout $14 Grilled peach salad. This had so much potential .... But it was pretty anticlimactic. The 4 thin slices of peach seemed to be an afterthought and barely made an impact compared to the flavor of the other toppings. The few bites of peach I did get were great but the rest was overpowered by the cheese and lacking anything special. This needs twice the peach slices if naming the salad after the fruit. Add $10 steak and this was a pretty disappointing $24 salad. Family ordered the truffle fries and those were amazing as usual! read more

Such a long wait food, if you are going to sit people down at a table (and they have a baby) it shouldn't take 1 hr and 40 mins to get food. Honestly we should have just left, but kept assuming it couldn't take that long. I don't want to go back because even with an awesome ambiance, it's not fair to customers, waiters and the kitchen to be that understaffed. At least warn people before sitting them. read more

Recently went with a group. I shared shrimp and grits, mussels, and a pizza with a few of the party. The food seemed a bit salty, and was quite rich and filling. The pizza is more "gourmet" or "throwback": definitely quite interesting with nice combinations of good ingredients you would not typically encounter. We were in a smaller room in the back, but it was still on the crowded side as a couple ended up being seated at a small table wedged in the corner. The place was still pretty noisy. Service was okay but nothing to brag about. Although I don't drink alcohol, others in my party do and they were happy about the selections. Cannot comment on prices as another person in my group was very kind and picked up the tab. read more

Good food and good people. The wines available are reasonably good to outstanding and a complete selection of other liquor.

We came here after graduation and I had made a reservation several weeks ago. We were seated rather quickly. The server was curt, bordering on rude. Most of the food was excellent. Interesting stuff dead and flavors. Except for the filet I ordered that was overcooked. The owner was very lovely, apologized and brought me another one. She also bought us dessert, which was kind and generous. read more

Stopped by here while on our way to a family event. What a delicious surprise. They have a full, interesting menu and a variety of beers & cocktails. It was mid-day and we still had driving to do, so we abstained, but WOW! Lots of yummy looking choices. My hubby had the black bean burger and a cup of the tomato vegetable soup- his words- Over the top! He said it was really tasty! I ordered the grilled peach salad and was not disappointed. The grilling really brought out the sweetness in the fresh peaches. The portion was so generous that I could not finish it all, but I wanted to! Service was prompt, friendly and attentive. The building is very interesting too. It dates back to the 1800's, and there a short history of the building. They also have an inviting patio, but we opted to eat indoors.if you are in town, you should definitely give this tavern a chance! Just awesome! read more

Met up with some friends here for lunch. It's a nice place in downtown Williamston. We were able to make reservations and it was not a crowded place. They followed COVID protocol and did it well. They gave us some complimentary orange bread. It was bright orange in color and smelled and tasted wonderfully! My meal was the Nutella French toast, side of bacon, and a Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary was $10 and was quite underwhelming. The mix needed more flavor. Maybe some extra seasoning or Worcestershire sauce. I added fresh strawberries to the French toast. It was pretty good! It Nutella between two slices of French toast, topped with walnuts, powdered sugar, and strawberries with a side of butter and syrup. No complaints from me! The bacon was cooked well and that's how I like it. I'm a carb girl when I go for brunch so I'm looking forward to a Belgian waffle or pancakes next time. read more

I picked this place blind for a party of 10 after MSU graduation. First of all, the town was so cute and festive for the holidays. They put us at the back of the restaurant in our own room, but it was all windows so we still felt like part of the restaurant. The cocktails, appetizers, and all 10 food orders were GREAT! Our waitress was attentive but not intrusive. I recommend this place highly!! 10/10 read more

We are longtime guests at the 109. Today might be our last. Our meals/sandwiches were cold. The cheesy grits were cold without the cheese melted. The soup was lukewarm. The waitstaff was subpar. We were very disappointed. No apologies were provided. We also noticed that the waitress was providing poor service to other customers & they seemed dissatisfied with their orders. read more

Delicious food and great service! The pear and bacon pizza was yum!!! A lovely find all around

The management of this establishment needs to manage the reservations to the size of the staff. Our server had three tables sat with a total of 27 guests at one time. This out the server in a very bad position. Three hours after we arrived we finally were served our main entree. This is management that out it's revenue above the staff and service. read more

Atmosphere was fun and casual, the waitress and hostess were delightful. The food wasn't the greatest and I feel it was a bit overpriced. White fish dip on appetizer menu $14 - doesn't say it is served hot - so here is your warning. It was good but being served warm was off-putting. The drinks are expensive for a place that isn't a craft-cocktail type place. Dark and Stormy was $11. I sent back the soup for being much too salty. Not personal preference - it was inedible. Easy to find, right on Grand River. We might give this place another chance sometime, but not for awhile. It was a sad experience. read more
