Stopped in here yesterday around 4 pm with hub. Drinks were good (GT and bottle beer - how can that get messed up). Service a teeny slow but server was super sweet and remembered everything. Fish and chips with coleslaw - swapped out slaw for corn chowder no problem and it was fabulous. Fish was superb. Batter is a bit too thick for me but the cod itself was perfect. Fries. Oh man. I hate battered fries so I'm not gonna comment because it's not terribly fair to those battered fry lovers who may think they're great. I just like the greatness of fried potatoes. I came to tavern 109 on my birthday and had the worst service of my life. I waited 30 min before a server even talked to me and another hour and a half before receiving my food. When I asked to speak to a manager I was thanked for my concerns and then she just left. No apology, nothing. Worst birthday experience. Nobody should ever come here. read more

We moved to Perry,Michigan a little over a year ago from Colorado and recently discovered this Restaurant on one of our weekend drive around. We finally dined this evening and it was so wonderful. Kate ( our Server ) was promompt giving us our menus and getting our cocktails to us. The house salad was wonderful and very well presented. The decor is soft and subtle w smooth Jazz music playing softly throughout. I had the Shrimp and Grits , an Upside Down plPineapple Martini and a Blue Moon w my dinner, the Wife had the Lobster Mac and Cheese and the same cocktails as I did. We enjoyed this establishment for just over an hour and plan to frequent this business often. Tucked away in a tiny little town that still has a very small town vide. You'd be missing out if you drove by and didn't stop in for at least a cocktail to wash the dust off from your journey home. This isn't bar food and drinks by any means. read more

I'm still dreaming about the bread pudding with bourbon caramel sauce. SO indulgent and flavorful. I enjoyed the Mac Daddy burger - although I think next time I will just get Mac and cheese as a side because it was a little hidden with all of the other flavors. Nevertheless, it was a delicious and juicy burger! Fries were perfectly done and tasty. My husband enjoyed his Swine Mac - and was so full he couldn't finish it! The service was great - they even gave us the bread pudding for free because it was our anniversary. The decor well appointed and unique and the ambiance of the restaurant is lively. Great beer selection. I had the olive burger and my buddy had a plain burger with a cup of chili on the side which he said were both good. Nice atmosphere inside. There is an outside "patio" that is like an alley. I could definitely see having a drink or dinner out there with the right weather. Excellent service. Will be back. read more

Nice space with average pub food. The tavern is a nice space in quaint, little Williamston not far from Lansing, but the food is nothing special and ends up being standard pub food. When I went I got the caesar salad, which was fine, but just your average caesar salad. I also ordered the Pear Pizza, which was OK. I appreciate the forward thinking dish and adventurous ingredients at a pub, but it was way too sweet. Stop putting so much sweet in my savory. The pear was sweet enough and there was an added glaze that just made it too much. My wife had the mac n cheese and she thought it was fine. The menu looks inviting enough and I'm willing to try it again but it's kind of a hike from where I'm at and it's always so busy and with a little toddler there is limited space for family seating. Because of these reasons I haven't been back even though I'd like to sample more from their menu. read more

We have always wanted to like Tavern 109. It has a great vibe, is inviting and comfortable, and has a great menu. But we have never had a meal there that lived up to all that promise. Last weekend, I tried the Krack Chili Mac. Nothing special and was served slightly warm, rather than hot. My wife ordered the Seasonal Risotto which sounded exotic and delicious. It was served at room temperature and none of us at the table could detect any flavor in the rice. The dish was inedible. We are very disappointed. We REALLY want to like this place but cannot recommend eating there. read more

Decided to try this place since we where driving to Williamston to get popcorn from the Sun Theatre during this Covid craziness. We ordered Mac Daddy Burger, Pear Pizza, Steak Salad, a Classic Burger and Lobster Mac n Cheese and a side of truffle salt & parm fries. My husband loved the Lobster Mac n Cheese, it was amazing. My brother said the classic burger was great, my daughter ordered the Mac Daddy Burger, was disappointed, there was no Mac n cheese on it. I loved the salad, and the vingarette dressing was delish. The pear pizza was good, but not what I was expecting. I was expecting bigger pieces of bacon and pear, again it was good not great. The fries were amazing, everyone loved them. My wife and I recently moved to the area and have been trying various restaurants around the area. We have been to Tavern 109 twice now. Both visits were later in the evening on Saturdays. Both experiences have been excellent. The service, food and ambiance were excellent both times we visited. There is really nice outdoor space, an nice dining area, and a bar area with high tops. There is a good tap list and house made infused liquor options. Last night we tried the olive burger and the cherry harvest burger. Both were delicious. We tried the side of house made chips, with delicious garlic aioli dipping sauce. We also shared the carrot ginger soup, which was delicious. We have also enjoyed the spin on spinach dip and the pizza we tried last time was delicious. We have also enjoyed the Putnam Pear salad on a previous visit. The Baked Bree and Cherry Jam app, was just okay. During both visits the wait staff has been great. Friendly and attentive, knowledgeable and eager to answer questions. At this point, this will likely be our go to place for a wonderful, relaxing evening. High quality food, great service, and very comfortable ambiance. read more

I hadn't been in for at least a year but was given a gift certificate so my husband and I came for a last minute dinner on a Friday night. I hadn't had bad experiences here previously, just nothing spectacular. We called ahead and made reservations at 6pm, telling them we would be there in 30 minutes. When we got there it was packed and many people were waiting to get a table, but they had a table available for us right next to the front window-perfect! We started with some wine, which was generously poured, and the whitefish pate. It is available cold or hot, and we ordered the hot version. It was delicious, as were the buttery toast points that came with it. The pate has a light lemony flavor that was so good with the smoked fish. Next we had salads that came with our entrees. We both ordered ranch with them, and we are the kind of people who like the buttermilk/mayo ranch that is mixed in house, nothing fancy. The ranch here is the fresh herb type that we usually don't prefer, but I have to say, this one was very yummy. The greens were nice as well, spring mix, not iceburg. It took probably another half an hour to get our entrees, but that was fine with us, as we were stuffed from the app and salads. We ordered the seasonal risotto, which was adorned with ferns and peas, and steak. I've never had ferns so that was a new and interesting taste. Light and refreshing for spring. Also had the meatloaf, which had crispy onion straws and garlic mashed potatoes. Also yummy, and the asparagus that came with it was very tender. We finished with the bourbon bread pudding, which was super spongy and good. All in all, everything hit me as just right. Looking for the worst service in Williamston? You've found it at Tavern 109! We were left with empty glasses for the majority of our meal, even after having asked for a refill we had to wait until our server returned to ask if we needed boxes to ask, yet again, for the refill. Did not check on us even once to see if the food was okay. The coleslaw was the stuff of nightmares, just sugary, wilted lettuce. The fish and chips are clearly battered in the same batter used for their waffles as it was sweet beyond what could be considered palatable. The wait time for the food was quite long, though that could be due to a number of factors. To top it all off, the food was really expensive for such a downscale diner in the middle of a 1-street town. Very disappointing - save your money AND your time and skip this one. read more

Tasty food in a trendy atmosphere. Decided to come here for a weekend brunch and thoroughly enjoyed my bacon and eggs. The best part of meal? Definitely the breakfast potatoes, which were super crisp on the outside but soft and fluffy on the inside. The english muffin with blackberry jam was rock solid as well. I also ordered a fruit and yogurt parfait that was just okay. The berries in the parfait were definitely of the frozen variety and came in a too-sweet syrup. So disappointed! Restaurant was overbooked and the poor servers were the ones that suffered! The owner/management put revenue above service/quality. Your liquor license has nothing to do with seating... Even during Covid. But Covid ended with our governor lifting restrictions. Our bill was over 200. That 200 pays your wage. I ate here for the first time last night for dinner after my mom had been telling me it was really good the one time she went. Our waiter had many tables and our order was taken from a different waiter that didn't fully communicate our dishes, so we ended up waiting at least an hour for one pizza to share. Service was slow, and when the basic Margherita Pizza came it was good, but nothing too special. I don't think the price is worth another visit as this restaurant is relatively expensive with our 10 inch pizza being 16$, and the long wait. In addition, my mom was sitting next to a vent that was black with dust and I wouldn't be surprised if it was black mold too. So all in all, it's worth a try to visit. Super great. We just picked it randomly since it was between Lansing and Brighton meet some friends. The omelette and pancakes were great. The bacon bourbon did have a hint of smoky bacon flavor but it was so strong alcohol-wise. The beermosa and mimosa were good too. Really nothing was a let down. The coffee is ridiculously good as well. They let us hang out for several hours catching up with friends and gave us free refills, even when I insisted it's only fair I pay for another cup (after literally four hours hanging out and probably 6 refills) they said "don't worry about it" and kept the coffees coming. read more
