I tried this place from a google search review. It is in a strip-mall, that worried me. But the atmosphere inside was nice. Pool table and a beer pong table. The food was good. We had the brussel sprouts that were amazingly yummy. Also had the beer cheese and pretzels that were good. Ordered burgers that were tasty, yet they were Gordons food patties..... First time to visit. Great appetizer "Sprouts From Brussels". The brussel sprouts are fried, and mixed with smoked bacon and Asian sauce. Very tasty!! I give it a 5+ rating. The main dish was "Blackjack" burger. Blackened seasoning with pepper jack cheese, onions, jalapeños with chipotle aioli. Pretty tasty. I give it a 4 rating. read more

Stopped by this place for lunch with a group of coworkers that had been here before. They said the place had pretty good burgers, so I thought I'd join them. I was pleasantly surprised that they weren't busy and I was able to belly up to the bar to eat. The place looked clean and the bathroom was well maintained. The minimal staff had their hands full with a couple other work crews eating lunch, but they kept up and were very attentive. I mowed down a Blackjack Burger that comes with their kettle chips. Pretty decent burger and the chips had good flavor. I ended up spending about $15 with a drink and a tip. I really didn't have any negative to add and had a good overall experience. Then again, there wasn't anything extraordinary either. I would definitely come back if someone invited me along, but on my own, I'd probably keep driving. read more

We were in a while back and sat at the bar. Melissa was the bartender that day. She was AMAZING. She made some great recommendations, including the Brussel sprouts, which... under any other circumstances, we would've never eaten. She said they were the MOST ordered item there... we declined but she brought us a sample anyway. Let me tell you, we understand now. They were crispy, perfectly sauced and surprisingly delicious! The burgers we had were also great but my favorite was the house made French onion dip that came with the chips. TOP. TIER. We also sampled a couple of the "cowboy up" and "pop goes the weasel" rolls. Needless to say, we were impressed by these as well. Only great things to say about the place as well as Melissa's service and we ended lunch with a hug for the man that created the menu! read more

They probably had 12-16 craft beers on tap, plenty of TVs, multiple seating options, and an outdoor patio. Worth the drive off the freeway if you're driving through. Food was excellent and service was outstanding. Sitting at the bar and a bartender who I didn't order my original beverage with came by and asked me if I wanted another goose and soda. Looks closed from the outside thanks to the heavily tinted windows. Dimly lit inside, which I guess might be desirable in a bar. But it was hard to read the menu. Pretty standard food. The chicken wasn't great quality. Pretty fatty and weird texture. Our server was nice enough. It seems like a potentially fun place for drinking. There's a good size bar plus a pool table and juke box. But really can't say I recommend going for the food. read more

I don't think there's a single worker in this restaurant that gives a $hit about anything. Rude attitude from the minute we walked in. Waited 25 minutes to even get our appetizer. Our server was very ghost she only came to our table when bringing food. They forgot to put one of our meals on the grill, so that burger was received after the rest of our table had finished eating. I ordered a chicken caesar salad wrap... it had so little chicken i couldn't even pick it out. When i say it was half a cup of shredded chicken i'm being generous. Will not be returning. read more

Great little neighborhood gem! The bartenders are always attentive and friendly. Lots of seating with industrial style decor. Great place for a happy hour drink or to catch a game. Don't be deterred by the dark windows. This is a great bar! Oh and their food is fantastic! We've been to this location twice, and we won't be back. Our first visit was fine. We ordered wine, the Chicago dog and the fried fish. Service was good and the food was OK. Things were definitely not as good on our second visit. We met friends for dinner prior to an MSU basketball game. They have a full bar, so I ordered an Old Fashioned. Our server apologized and said they didn't have the ingredients to make it (whiskey, bitters, sugar, orange). I ordered a whiskey on the rocks instead. Everyone else ordered beer, and those were fine. The food was not good on this visit. Three of us ordered burgers, and all were WAY underdone. My friends ate their burgers, since they didn't mind very rare burgers (even though they had ordered medium). My husband ordered his medium well, and it came back very rare. He ate half and told the server about the issue, but explained he didn't want a refund or a new burger since he had eaten half of it. I ordered a pesto flatbread, which included chicken, roasted red peppers and onions. At other restaurants, flatbreads are usually fairly healthy, with lighter toppings than traditional pizza (given the thin crust). Here, however, the flatbread was loaded down with so much cheese it was difficult to eat. In addition, the toppings were put on the pizza first and then doused with cheese, so the raw onions didn't cook much at all. Our server was good and kept checking back. But the bar and kitchen are severely lacking. It's unfortunate, because most bars & restaurants in that area are either chains or mediocre (like Reno's). The Rusty Mug had an opportunity to provide something decent on the west side, but it fits right in with the other average establishments that already exist. read more

My friend just moved here from out of state so went to my go to spot, the rusty mug, to get some drinks and catch up. The bartender denied my friends ID and said it was fake. We brush it off and leave and come back again a few weeks later. Same thing happened and we leave. Finally we go back a third time and my friend brought her birth certificate to prove she was of age. That same bartender was working and very unapologetic. Drinks have always been overpriced and shots tasted meh. I was someone who came here often but will not be coming back . Very slow service. I received my beer, ordered food and waited 30 Minnie's for food and there was only about 15 other people in here. SERVICE: 2/5 Fries were VERY salty and left me full but underwhelmed. The burger was made out to be something it's not. It was relatively basic. They could've put the jalapeños on the burger and melted the cheese over the jalapeños in the effort to make something unique with a lot of quality but they were on the bottom of the burger just like they took them right out of the can. Turned a brussels sprouts hater friend of mine into a brussels lover The Jam On It turkey sandwich is my fave, love it! And the Three Little Chicks with that Asian inspired peanut sauce, miraculous, you can stop eating it! HOWEVER, with all that wonderful stuff said.. The wine is nasty I'm a cab or red blend chick. Honestly, you can pick up an inexpensive but delicious bottle of wine at Horrocks...soooooo many reasonably priced bottles of red that are delicious!Caricature, Josh, The Franc, to name a few. We (just 2 of us) stopped in for lunch on a Sunday. It had just opened so it wasn't busy except for a large table of several couples and children. We sat at the bar and immediately were asked by the bartender for our drink order and gave us menus. She told us that she would give us a couple minutes to look at the menu but if we hurried she could put our order in right away (before the large table). We aren't picky eaters and quickly placed our orders. I only ever saw one other person (assuming the cook) working there, even when they got busier. My Bloody Mary was delicious and our food came out quickly. It was FANTASTIC! I had a chicken sandwich with chips and my boyfriend had the Ruben with sweet potato puffs. The French onion dip that came with my chips was soooo good. The bartender provided great service & we will definitely be back when in the area. read more
