I was at Horrock's in Lansing and wanted a non-chain restaurant for lunch. I looked at Yelp and saw this. I walked in and it felt like one of those cozy little restaurant/bars in little towns up north. The menu is small, but everything on it looked really good I got the turkey club (it had some other name). It was HUGE and filled with fresh turkey, tomatoes, bacon and lettuce, along with a generous amount of fries. I had lunch at the Log Jam last week with a relative that lives in Grand Ledge. Wendell Decker recommended this restaurant and he couldn't of been more right. We had a great waitress and the menu had everything you could want. I had the hot roast beef sandwich and it was great. Their dessert was the topping on the meal! It was a brownie with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream on top. Would highly recommend and will be going back!!!!! read more

The Log Jam in Grand Ledge has been very consistent over the years and I don't know what took so long to write a review! It's almost always seat yourself and sometimes it is hard to get a table. They have a loyal core of people that I see every time we go there. The food is simple and delicious. My husband favors their burgers or the meatloaf when on special and I have tried most everything on the menu. My favorite would be the Philly cheese steak or wet burrito. Generous portions and hot. I seldom get fries but did this last time with the cheese steak and they were the best I've had in ages. Double coated, crispy and tender. I only ate half my sandwich as I ate all of the fries. The restaurant is casual and clean and we have never had trouble with the service. The owner almost always stops by to make sure the meal is good. The restrooms are clean but definitely need updating. read more

We had a party of 20 plus people with quite a few small children. All of us were fed and out of their within 2 hours. All the food was delicious and the waitress we had was incredibly patient for even our pickiest eaters. Highly recommend. read more

Went to LogJam a few weeks back for a meeting in their back dining room. We had ordered a ton of fried goodies and pizza that ended up being absolutely delicious. I was too busy shoving my face with onion rings to listen to the meeting. This place really deserves more praise than it gets - it's likely one of the top 5 restaurants in the Lansing area. The food is really good (I haven't tried everything, but what i have had seems mostly homemade instead of heated frozen products), the prices are good, the staff is excellent, and the facilities are clean. Good food and service. The staff are friendly and the service is quick. It's an old style 'seat yourself' restaurant, which is great. Just walk in and sit down. We've eaten there numerous times and we're always waited on within minutes. The food is home cooked...except for the cheese sticks...do NOT order the cheese sticks. We had a very good time at the log jam on Saturday afternoon, February 8th 2020. We were on the chocolate walk and the log jam happen to be one of the businesses on the walk who participated, so we left that is the last business to visit while we were downtown. I had the Philly cheesesteak and fries and I thought that was really good, Sue had a cheeseburger and fries and a Coke, which was really good. I will give this place four stars, the wait staff is really nice, place is pretty clean, the menu was a lot, however that is something you will have to judge for yourself. read more

I was in Grand Ledge for a business meeting and the Log Jam was suggested to me as a good lunch/informal meeting place. We had a party of 5 and showed up around noon on a Thursday. The waitress placed us in a quiet place and was very friendly and professional. For a small town restaurant the Log Jam had an extensive menu and some pretty innovative specials. A good majority of my party had the catfish and hush puppies which they raved about. I ordered a French Dip, and while it's hard to screw that up...I thoroughly enjoyed it. Best of all this place has perfect fries (IMO). Golden, crispy but not burnt with a hint of salt and of a decent size. Overall I had no expectations entering this restaurant and was pleasantly surprised. I'd return again if I am ever in Grand Ledge. read more

We had a great dinner. When we lived in Lansing, we used to go to breakfast here all the time. This was my first time there for dinner. Not bad. The service was okay, not great. The menu is huge. At our table, there was a wet burrito, bacon cheeseburger, whitefish, turkey club, sweet potato fries, Greek chicken salad, and a cherry chicken salad. All of it was really good. We will probably go back when we are in town. However, breakfast is on my list for the Log Jam. read more

Couldn't tell you how the food was or even the drinks. Took my parents and a friend. Just four simple adults. Not picky, just hungry and ready to enjoy the evening at what seemed like a nice place. No one even bothered to greet us. Seated ourselves, as we were told, and waited for any one of the servers that were consistently walking past us, to greet us. Watched as a couple sat down behind us, be greeted, order drinks, get their drinks, and order their food, all while we waited at least 15 minutes to have anyone even acknowledge we were there. It was a Friday night but it wasn't busy enough for a wait list. There were still empty tables when we gave up and left. I have never experienced anything like it. Great place to have a Christmas Party! We reserved the back room which offers complete privacy and a cozy ambiance. Our buffet included the traditional holiday ham and turkey dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy. The food was delicious, and the staff was exceptional! This is a great small town bar and restaurant. The food is really good, especially the fish and chips!!! The drinks are decent and reasonably priced. The live music is good, although a bit loud, but that is to be expected with live music. I have been to a couple of private events in the back room and it was really nice and the staff was accommodating. There is plenty of parking in the free public lot behind the restaurant. If you want a laid back Tavern with great service, hit up the Log Jam! You seat yourself so we got to pick a table that we felt private and comfortable in. I attended with three other people. I had the French dip which was really good. I did order sweet potatoes fries instead of regular fries but my sandwhich came with regular fries but when I told the server, he had sweet potato fries out in no time. Two salads were ordered at my table, both of which were good portions and filled with fresh ingredients. And the fourth person ordered a sandwhich which he really liked. I can't remember what sandwhich it was though. The service is very good and our drinks were filled in a timely manner and our plates were cleared in a timely manner also. Excellent service and food! We went there on a Tuesday at 11:30 am and had wonderful service and food. We all had the French dip that comes with crisp on the outside and soft in the inside French fries. Both were generous helpings. Atmosphere was very pleasant. Well, I've been an avid Log Jam customer since the mid 70's. It's a great place to go with a really cool atmosphere. HOWEVER, today [Sunday 03/12] we arrived at 1240pm. Got our menus & drink order (taken). There was a large table in the dining area & what appeared to be a bridal shower going on in the banquet room at the north end. There were also several booths filled along the west wall. There were people from the bridal shower party out asking if they were ever going to get any drinks...... We never got to place a food order & didn't even get our drinks. We left after sitting there for 20 minutes of "no service". The people working were very busy trying to keep up. We have been frequent customers of the Log Jam for many years. Chris, the owner, is very personable and always has time to chat with us. The menu is varied with a good overall selection that is reasonably priced. Pizza and fish and chips are my favorites. The beer selection is decent and also fairly priced. I travel weekly for my job eat at a lot different places each week. However I always look forward to coming home to eat at the Log Jam. read more

My husband and I have been frequent patrons of the Log Jam over many years, but after last night, we'll re-visit the idea of returning. They were busy and I can understand some delay, but our waitress, was almost "surly" when she finally approached our table, complained about her long day, etc. It took some time for our drinks to arrive and much longer for food. Meanwhile the 6 top table next to us became a spot for dirty dishes and servers continued to add to the pile rather than return them to the kitchen. Even worse, the manager (?) perhaps sensing our mood avoided asking us about service while checking in with all the surrounding tables and returned to the kitchen empty handed after walking by the dirty table. Let me start out by saying I love log jam and have been coming here since I was a kid. This past weekend I had my baby shower here, everything looked amazing and ran smoothly! A few complaints, we had the back room 12-3.. I was less than pleased how there were only enough sandwiches for one per person, and we ran out before everyone ate! For as much money as we paid we should have had a ton left over! When I was opening gifts the server (a lady) was walking in front of all my guests blocking their view trying to clean up plates, I understand you need to clean up but not when I am opening gifts. After gifts we were all saying our goodbyes, once again the server was walking in front of everyone. My family and I helped clean everything up as it was nearing 3pm, we were given boxes to box our own food to take home which was only leftover pasta salad. Once again the server was zooming around us, being super rude. The staff was more worried about hurrying so they could go outside and smoke a cigarette:( Also in the entryway a rug covered up a sinking squishy spot in the floor. That spot was bouncing and clearly needs to be fixed. Needless to say spend the money somewhere else, they are more worried about getting you in and out and not about your experience. read more

Have been to the Log Jam several times this year after not being in the area for some time. Was pleasantly surprised with everything. Atmosphere is somewhere between a bit of a sports bar and the average family diner meaning it's nice. Lately I've been having the wet burrito and it's truly one of the best I've had. Great size and the meat is awesome with great flavor and a few peppers. Plenty of sauce & cheese to boot and tortilla chips around the whole plate. I'm a big eater and I could only eat half. Great value. Had their pizza more recently and it was decent, nothing spectacular but not at all bad. Prices seem very reasonable and they have a nice selection of food. Service has been great. Attentive and friendly. Best part for me is that they have Pepsi! Most places seem to have Coke but I'm a Pepsi person. Overall great place to take the family. I'll be back for sure. read more

LOVE the Log Jam! When we lived in town we were regulars at least once a week for dinners. It has a clean, great atmosphere, the waitstaff is awesome, as is the owner, Chris. They have awesome prime rib on New Years Eve, and are headed back for it this year. read more
