What a great neighborhood Italian restaurant. Cook from scratch Italian restaurant. This was my wife and I first time visit. We also had our two young hungry grandchildren with us. We all decided on pizza and ordered two pizzas. One for the adults and a smaller one for the kids. While we were waiting the room air filled up with the aroma of a seafood restaurant restaurant. It turns out they were serving crab legs and other fresh seafood entrees. That is when we were told they serve cook from scratch meals and daily specials. Our pizzas came out and both pizzas were loaded with generous toppings. Even the kids small pepperoni pizza looked generous and cooked perfectly. Very friendly service, clean, and affordable. We were in town for a few days and decided to give Piazzano's a try. Overall, I'd give it a solid C / 3-star experience. The pizza took a little longer than expected, but they do let you know upfront that there may be a wait, which I appreciated. The flavor was good overall, and the ingredients seemed fresh. For my taste, there was a little too much sauce, which made the pizza a bit heavy. That said, it was still decent and worth trying if you're in the area and craving pizza. My entree was the blackened chicken fettuccine Alfredo with garlic toast. The chicken was blackened and tender, and the fettuccine sauce was thin and bland. The low-top, bar and booth seating in open-room settings make it a bit loud. The service is good but uninspired. There is no credit card fee, and the prices are competitive. Went back to this place after not going for almost ten years and it has changed in ways but also stayed the same in the best ways! Felt like I was stepping back into my childhood with the way things looked on the inside! Outside has definitely changed and a bit of the inside too but those were definitely good changes! They added a new paint job to the exterior of the building and a nice garage door-type patio extended onto it for more space! As far as service goes, it was a little slow when I went but the place was packed so I don't blame them too much. One issue I did notice, I sat near the window to their kitchen and they dropped some shrimp off someone's plate onto the counter and just discarded it and didn't even say anything. It also sat there for quite a while before being delivered to the table. As far as the taste of the food goes though, I got spaghetti with a giant meatball and it was incredible and nostalgic so I can't complain too much! Love the food at this restaurant, it is very close to where we live & we enjoy going to this restaurant for the local feel. They have some really good daily specials. My most favorite items off their menu are the stuff mushrooms, & their big delicious burgers. I usually have them make me one with toppings I specifically like, not on their menu. I have been to Piazzanos many times and had great service and food. We came in on a Tuesday night and were offered seating the banquet room in the basement. The food was good but the service was terrible. We waited almost an hour for our appetizer. Our entree came about 10 minutes after the appetizer. We expressed our concern to the waitress and were told that there was a problem with the ordering from the basement and everything had to be handwritten out to place our order. The table that came in 20 minutes after us got their food right after our entrees. The manager came down to talk to us. He did not apologize just told us the problem was they had been slammed the last 2 nights and he wasn't expecting it. He did not offer any type of compensation for the long wait. The food was amazing! I had the salmon and my wife had the tongue slapper. It was pretty busy when my wife and I came in and we were shocked at how well our server was managing it. It seemed like she had more tables than everyone else. My mug of Bud light was never empty. Our servers name was Anna and I can guarantee if she is your server you will have a great experience! My friend and I stopped in after arriving at the Lansing airport. We had cheese sticks with ranch and marinara and the artichoke spinach dip pizza. Both were good. I really liked the marinara dip- fresh homemade taste. New owners and the I was told they have the same cooks and have upgraded the burger meat to USDA Prime. I will try one next time. One of our favorite places but they nickel and dime you! You don't want mash potatoes but extra stuffing as a substitute - nope that will be $2.35 extra. Are you Kidding me! Kind of an out of the way place, but well worth driving to. Service was good, not great, but the food was excellent. The brisket sandwich is amazing! I also highly recommend leaving room for dessert. worst service EVER. ignored by not only wait staff but the "Manager " as well. waited for fifteen minutes before seated (no line of people-just two of us). waited for over 30 minutes to be asked what we wanted to drink but it never happened we had to go ask for drinks ourselves. then had to wait for our waitress/bartender to quit chatting at the bar to actually take our order. finally got food 70 minutes later. watched multiple people/tables be seated get food eat and leave while we still waited for our food. waitress was very rude and knew they screwed up so she then decided to only ask my husband if he wanted a refill never asked me one time. the food was only OK will NEVER eat here again. it only takes a couple of minutes to be kind. to acknowledge people. we all get if you are busy but the complete lack of caring by ANYONE in this establishment was pathetic and probably shouldn't be in any kind of service industry read more

I've driven by this restaurant for years and finally stopped for a late dinner a couple of nights ago when my "drive by" coincided with my hunger. So glad I did! I had baked spaghetti with meat sauce: piping hot, delicious melted gooey cheese topping, tasty tomato sauce with meat that tasted better than my homemade sauce! (If you're a "twirler" as I am, ask for a spoon.) For a small up-charge I had a salad with house made blue cheese on the side. (Standard variety of cool, crisp veggies; best blue cheese dressing and least expensive up-charge for a side salad I've paid in months.) Thank you, Nicholas, for friendly and efficient service. Before stopping here, I checked Yelp reviews and was a bit intimidated as it sounded like a place better suited for "regulars", or at least folks dining together. Take my word for it, don't pass this place by just because you've not been here before or you are dining alone: you will be welcome and you will enjoy the food. 1st visit. Came with a group. Ordered, lasagna, my go-to dish for a new Italian restaurant. It was $10, for a good sized portion. I usually do not eat an entire entree. I always take some home. I ate about 1/2. That was fine for lunch or dinner. It was very good lasagna. One companion ordered a salad that was unusually large; with lots of fresh ingredients. There was enough for 3 small meals. Another companion ordered a wet burrito. The dish was unusually large. Enough for at least 2 meals; maybe 3. It looked very good. read more

Does anybody ever get nervous to suggest a spot to a friend? Like you rave about a place and then friend leaves unimpressed? NOT TODAY SATAN!!! Piazzanos came through for me big time. Got a custom burger with ham, cheese and a fried egg. The egg and ham were ad ons so I paid 18 dollars with tip for a burger and fries. Stung a little but to see my friend enjoy their nachos like experiencing a happy ending was amusing. Service was prompt and friendly. Not my first go round here and won't be last. Stopped in for breakfast this weekend and boy is this a hidden gem! I was pleasantly surprised with the menu and prices. The service was excellent and the kitchen was quick. The beef and potato soup was really good! So good in fact I was the last person who got it because they ran out. The chicken parm was decent, the chicken was pretty under-seasoned but the pasta and sauce were really good. The lasagna was phenomenal and I kinda wish my husband traded dishes with me, which he didn't, how impolite! My son got spaghetti and he gleefully downed it, and he's ever so picky. The amount of food is quite abundant and definitely made for multiple meals. Finding a good restaurant in Lansing has been slightly tricky but this has been added to the list of places we can go to when we're there! read more

My nona loves this place so everytime I visit her we go here. The food is so simple and just perfect for her because they skip the complicated ingredients the food is still hearty and home cooked. Although each time we go, after her first bite she'll say she still cooks much better than this. My nona is very robust and a bold woman. She got herself the french onion soup which I later ended up ordering as well. She hates when I take pictures of the meal lol. She got the smoked turkey sandwich which was loaded wit tender turkey meat and a generous side of crispy potato chips in the side. I did think my bowl of french onion soup was a tad bit saltier and kind of cold so I asked for a hot bowl of soup again. I ordered the fried raviolis, it is my weakness and my nona and I ended up sharing so she seemed to like it a lot. And then I ordered the sicilian pasta because I had a craving for sausage and just saucy carbs. Delicious flavor and very fresh! The interior is very simple and kind of outdated but don't let that keep you from enjoying what they serve here.
