This place was so cute. I had their breakfast tacos and they were absolutely delicious. And their hashbrowns were amazing. Nothing like I ever tasted before, but you have to get them loaded.

First time in South bend! Ended up going to Peggs. It was really delicious. They have outdoor seating and since it was a nice day, we sat outside. The serving size is large for the price. I loved the eggs Benedict. The sauce was very good and not overly salty. Our server was really nice and we were quickly served. I definitely recommend checking it out for breakfast/brunch!

Busy on a Saturday but fun, lively and bright vibe. We waited about 20 minutes for our table of six and while the service wasn't bad, it really wasn't good either. Food was mediocre. We got a cinnamon roll, yogurt and granola, breakfast tacos in a burrito, and the Fred's home plate. Definitely better food choices in south bend but this was convenient and fun.

A South Bend staple l for delicious brunch!! The service is friendly and the food is delicious! Lots of classic brunch options and seasonal specials, as well as mimosas and more. They don't take reservations but do offer call ahead. On a Sunday after a home game, we got there right around 9 and didn't have to wait and it started getting more crowded shortly after.

My daughters and I stopped in for brunch a couple months ago. The atmosphere is friendly, it has a definite downtown cafe feel. We were greeted and seated very quickly! It was pretty busy during our visit. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. She suggested the breakfast tacos ( I wish I had taken a picture), as her personal favorite. We ordered: Breakfast tacos- Holy cow! It had chorizo and eggs and lots of other good stuff in corn tortillas, very very good! 10/10 Banana's foster French toast- this was a special limited time item. I was in absolute heaven! The bananas cooked perfectly with heavenly caramelized butter with cinnamon infusion. The French toast was cooked perfectly. 10/10 Chicken tenders- huge portion of juicy tender chicken that my daughter ordered with fresh fruit. She loved it! 9/10 for the fruit being very unripe, but not a dealbreaker! Little one had a scrambled egg and waffle fries ( I know, she is my picky one lol). She says the egg was delicious! I tried her waffle fries and give them a 7/10, cooked well and came to use hot and crispy. Not overly flavorful. Coffee and sodas were perfect and refilled without a delay. Pricing is average for the area and portions are very good. I will definitely be back for more delicious food and fun with my family at PEGGS.

The wait staff are always really good here, but unfortunately the food isn't. Eggs benedict should be poached. Eggs should be cooked right if the whole business is based on eggs. My benny was wrong twice. Eggs whites were clear and snotty the first time, white and snotty the second time. Both times not poached. ?? Here's the Picture. Hollandaise was terrible. I mean wall paper paste terrible. All of this took way too long. The last thing to mention is that the wait was like 25 minutes after she said 15, and my husband and I stood there with an obvious injured knee (cane and wrapped knee, terrible limp) and no one in the waiting room offered the seat they, or their children, were sitting in. Not a single person, until we left, had the courtesy to offer. After a mother/sister/children group got seated, I was finally able to rest my knee for the last 3 minutes of our wait. That group, who ended up seated next to us, was (2 totally able bodied women with several 8-12yr old kids) rude and entitled people, every one of them, almost like the scene from those unbelievable Instagram videos where you think, 'Surely this can't be real...' but then it unfolds in front of you. Yeah. Not yet fault of the restaurant, but still an unavoidable reflection of the experience. My husband said, "Sorry I brought you there, Babe. It's gotten worse and worse the last few times. That wasn't pleasant at all. We won't be coming back." I'm okay with this. I didn't even talk about his food. After sending mine back twice, it's your own risk. I hope it's good for you and ours was just a freak occurrence....

We arrived on a busy Saturday morning, but we were seated within 10 minutes. I ordered the Biscuits and Gravy combo. The biscuits were average, and the gravy was just okay. The Bloody Mary was good, but it was very weak. Overall, it was a good experience, and I'll be back to try something else.

This place is adorable! The breakfast tacos were delicious, and the hash browns loaded, of course were unlike anything I've ever tasted. Absolutely amazing!

And with all of these places to sit, on a lovely Friday night- this place was poppin'! This place was bustling!! It seems like a very popular spot! We just had the two of us and were seated at a small two person table between two other close tables - located alongside a long booth bench against the wall that breaks up into individual seating spots. This was totally fine for our breakfast that morning but it's not something I'd prefer if you like your privacy in conversation or otherwise. ;) The service was slow to start but after our waitress came she was mostly attentive the rest of our meal. We ordered 2 coffees. These were stronger and much more delicious than your average "diner cup"!! The staff offered a couple of refills throughout our time. I really loved the simplicity of the menu! There are options with a great variety, but it's still concise and not overwhelming!! Our dishes came out within 10 minutes of ordering, extremely fast and was surprising! My husband ordered the Huevos Rancheros with chorizo and he enjoyed it! The flavors were bold and the plate was pleasing to the eyes except for the avocado which was looked like it was quickly turning. I ordered the Crab Cake Benedict and had super high expectations for this entree!! It looked so beautiful upon arrival but when I began eating I quickly realized the dish was quite cool! My first half came with a well done poached egg which was disappointing. The second piece was cooked perfectly but was also just not very warm. The hollandaise sauce had wonderful flavor, but again, just wasn't warm - it seemed like the dish had maybe been sitting. I think this dish could be outstanding at the right temperature!! The potatoes that accompany this entree were a little dry for my liking but my husband thought they were good!! :) We noticed other tables with special lattes and several parties being served decadent looking sweet breakfast options - those all looked delicious!! There was a super kind and outgoing waitress serving nearby tables, explaining all kinds of special choices, like lovely latte options that were being offered that morning. The way she so kindly described everything sounded delicious but unfortunately our waitress didn't welcome our table with that same level of hospitality. What we saw being ordered by those nearby was met with great happiness when it arrived to them!! :)

Last night was my first visit to Fiddler's Hearth, despite wanting to check this place out ever since I started dating my boyfriend, who lives in South Bend, a year and a half ago! Their regular menu looks sooooo good and their restaurant week menu also looked good! Just a note - only 2 of the items on their restaurant week menu appear on the regular menu, so get these unique dishes while you can these next two weeks! Like I said, I have been wanting to check out this SB institution for ages! Inside is adorable and absolutely maximalist. My minimalist mom would have a heart attack coming in here. So despite it being -5 degrees out, Fiddler's Hearth was packed and we were glad we made reservations. It was the first day they had the special restaurant week so it did take 2 hours for us to get through and finish everything because the kitchen had to make all these new items but I won't fault the restaurant for that in my review today. I am sure it is normally a well-oiled machine. My bf and I both got different things off of the menu but ended up splitting so we could try lots of different Irish foods. We started off sipping in some unique alcoholic drinks. I got the shamrock coffee which had Baileys and mocha. He got the restaurant week special of a pear and allspice old fashioned. His drink was very strong. Mine was delightful and I was a happy camper sipping mine. Round one goes to me for choosing the best drink. The drinks were about $9 for the old fashioned and $7 for the spiked coffee. Next round was our first course, the appetizer. He got the steak pie (a mini version of the Guiness Steak Pie on the normal menu) for the appetizer which was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC and seasoned to perfection with lots of onions. I got the potato and leek colcannon cakes for the appetizer which were very leek heavy on the taste. I liked it but agreed his appetizer was the winner. Next up to the plate were our entrees. He paid $3 additional dollars for their take on a salmon wellington. It came with a side of brussel sprouts and potatoes. I chose to be a fatty and get the patty melt with medium rare prime rib, stone ground mustard, grilled onions, and a side of pretty yummy chips (ie French fries). It was a very wet sandwich haha. I personally think mine was the better one, while my bf thought his was the best. Sometimes, you just need a really wet and juicy sandwich!! Haha! Last but not least was our desserts. He was the winner here but just barely. His bread pudding was a calorie heavy delight, smothered in a white chocolate sauce. Mine was a cute little classic Irish dessert, a cranachan, which was sort of like a trifle. On top was a moist and chewy gingerbread cookie. In total, our bill was a little over $100 for tax and tip. A little expensive, sure, but we had a great time and came home very full! I will be back!

I have not yet had the pleasure of trying anything off of Fatbird's normal menu. I'll try to keep this review quick since it is pretty specific but long story short, we loved the unique and well made food and the service and vibes were great! So while Fatbird is known for their chicken sandwiches, my bf and I ordered the $40 lunch for two from this special 2026 menu, which was heavily indigenous Latin American-inspired in the ingredients. For the starter, we shared 8 sweet plantains slices which were yummy but we wish we had more. Then for our main, we split one grilled jerk chicken sandwich with VERY unique ingredients like a pickled green tomato as well as two creative tacos with tender shredded pork and more pickled veg. The tacos were spicy as heck and definitely not for the faint of heart! Lastly, we split a small bowl of arrow con leche brule, which helped bring the heat down from the tacos. While we didn't leave full, we had fun trying a curated and very unique set of dishes with interesting flavors, textures, and spices. The other 4 people we ate lunch with ordered a variety of stuff from the normal menu, some of which are in my attached pictures. My bf also ordered himself a pineapple tepache to sip on, which was $8, and I got myself a diet coke with lemon ($3). Our waitress was on top of her game and was very friendly. The interior is cute and spacious and the bathroom is cute and clean. I love a clean bathroom! Their normal menu has 8000 things I want to try next time! As for this special menu lunch, we paid, after tax, tip, and a credit card surcharge, a total of $67. A bit high for lunch, but good vibes all around!

What left me puzzled is food. What I loved were fries, round shaped which I thought was rather unusual and just the right amount of salt, crispiness, softness inside. That's about it though. As a main dish I picked prosciutto focaccia and while on paper it looked great, it came out very dry, almost stale, I didn't enjoy it at all. While fries were great, the portion of it was tiny. Like, 10 or 11 fries in a small plate. My partner got a chicken sandwich and it was good. Now, the kids got kids burger which comes with fries too and I swear the kids plate had double the fries compared to my side. We also got kids pasta and it was the same size as someone's pasta from our party. I mean, great value for kids menu items, sure, but I'm just not sure why adult dishes are so slim compared to kids. When they brought the check we noticed two items in it that we didn't order, which we realized after paying for it and looking at the receipt (they use portable terminals and have an option to text you the receipt). Our server corrected the mistake and refunded the difference for the two items we didn't order promptly after we pointed it out but this still left a bad aftertaste for us; we don't always look at receipts and this one would've gone unnoticed for sure, we only looked because total seems a bit too high. I also noticed that the soup upcharge on the menu is $2, but on the check it was $3. Pointed it out to the server too but she didn't do anything about it. It's just a dollar so we didn't press for it, and again, only noticed it because we started looking at the receipt due to unusually high total. Anyway, it was nice to visit, but we won't be back.

You can tell there is real thought and precision behind every detail--from the menu to the pacing of the meal. And the ambiance was a total vibe! But what truly made the experience stand out was the service. The team struck that rare balance of being both highly professional and genuinely warm. Nothing felt scripted. It felt personal. If you appreciate thoughtful, elevated dining with exceptional service, this place is worth going out of your way for. We will be back for sure!
