Purchased brand new HVAC through Home Depot...my system was less than 2 years old and the compressor died. ARS responded to my concerns but initially misdiagnosed the problem. The company is not responsive when customer has purchased a warranty. The management is not responsive to customer needs, and I am truly disappointed with their lack of responsiveness to problems with my AC unit which is seven years old and under warranty. They have repeatedly not honored Service appointments and not notified me to give me status when I schedule an appointment after the concern arose. ***Senior Citizens please be aware for ARS Manassas**** Do not use ARS for your new AC install and fall for their 10 year parts and labor warranty. It is paid for so when you need them, they will tell you they are "too busy and can't guarantee someone will be able to show up". ARS have been a no show for Feb, June, and July maintenance appointments for my parents. They didn't even bother to let them know they can't make it. They are senior citizens and do not have the energy to keep chasing them anymore and have reached out to me for help. I wish they told me earlier. I will be contacting them this week myself because they have an upcoming August appointment. Will they show up? If they do, will they do a good job? I will keep you all posted. The sales person responsible for selling them a new unit also has not returned any of their calls for help on this matter. Their previous AC unit was only 10 years old that I had purchased. The worst service ever! I called today, 7/11/24 at around 12p and was given an appointment time from 12p-4p. Noone ever showed up, Noone communicated on delays, I called every hour from 4p, 5p, 6p, 7p, 8p and 830p. No documentation was recorded at all. Everyone was telling the same story. They will reach out to the Dispatcher and someone would contact me shortly. Noone ever did! Then I was told that I could reschedule for the next morning. This place is blasphemy! They worst ever! I guess 12p-4p was a joke to say the least! This was actually supposed to be the second visit being that they came out two weeks prior. However that never happened. Was told a manager would contact me shortly...still waiting on that call!? Then I go to Yelp to leave a review and noticed they were 2 stars. Atleast the previous guy was honest. I had this company come out and install a brand new HVAC system, three months ago. Since then, they have been out three times to repair it. This is ridiculous, save your money because if the price looks to good to be true, trust me it is. The biggest regret ever, just pay the extra money with another company and save yourself the headache of constantly calling and having them come out to fix things. If I could give 0 stars I would. I am taking this very public because I can NOT believe what is happening. ARS (Manassas) installed an AC in my condo in June 2022. Fast forward to March 2023 and I am having new flooring put in and the contractor discovers mold right where the new AC and there is water all around the bottom of the AC. I call ARS and they send someone to come take a look. Mr. Martin from the Manassas office comes and looks around and discovers where exactly the leak is and his words "yup that's on us" He takes pictures and calls his boss and describes the problem to him and sends the person the pictures. Mr. Martin verbally (to me and to his boss on the phone) spoke about how this was a faulty installation and that it was on ARS. Before he left he even said to me "I apologize (on behalf of ARS). We will take care of this for you." He was there in the afternoon so he said to me that hopefully someone would call that evening and have someone there the very next day to repair. 48 hours have passed and I have not so much as received a phone call. I have called myself 4 times. The 4th time I finally spoke to someone and they told me that it was not their fault and that they "didn't touch" where the leak is coming from. WHAT ? They attached their pipe to the pipe and linked the AC unit to the house and that is apparently where it is leaking. Even Mr. Martin said that it appears to have been leaking a long time. Now I have a faulty AC unit and MOLD in my home and ARS Manassas is trying to act like they didn't do a FAULTY installation. I am waiting to hear back from corporate on this. read more

Yesterday 7/8/2021 Alex arrived on time at 9:am to do a biannual service . He cleaned the fan housing of my air handler, then tried to sell me am $1800, Ultraviolet air cleaner. Next he points to my hot water heater and takes out a heating element from his tool kit that has calcium on it and tried to sell me a $1300, hot water heater flush and calcium preventer. The Heat pump - He tested the refrigerant pressure and says my unit is 1.5 lbs. low. I say ok, charge the unit. The catch is I have to pay for 3lbs to get the 1.5lbs my unit needs. $364 to clean the air handler, $393 to charge the refrigerant. $757 WHAT A RIP OFF !! Even though the cost to clean the air handler and charge the refrigerant was high. the worst part was the pushy attempt to sell me stuff I don't need or want. Criminals. A disgruntled service technician came to my home and sabotaged my heating unit last fall. He closed vents and restricted the air flow of my heating unit. A few months later my HVAC wouldn't heat. I called them to come service. The first tech said I needed a new circuitboard and charged me $500. Week later without hearing any update, I called and another service tech came out. He said he fixed it by tightening down wires, but I needed a new thermostat and would have charged me another $500. I saw the same thermostat on Amazon for $150 so I declined. The problem persisted and my heater wouldn't work. So I called for another technician to come out. This one came out and replaced the circuitboard for $500 and said everything was fine. It was not. I had a fourth technician from ARS come out. This one said the problem was a broken blower motor and wanted to charge me $3700. I was fed up so I called another company to come and inspect. A very nice and clean 20-year-old kid came out from this other company and showed me where my system had been sabotaged. We removed the air restriction and opened the vents, and guess what, my system works perfectly. I've left messages with ARS to follow up and they refuse to contact me. They obviously know what they are doing wrong and they are criminals. read more

Buyer Beware of ARS/Rescue Rooter of Manassas: A Bad HVAC Experience I'm having an unfortunate experience with ARS/Rescue Rooter for an HVAC installation, and I feel compelled to share my story. From start to finish, their service was subpar, and I strongly advise against using their services. Shoddy Installation: The installation process was riddled with mistakes. The technicians seemed rushed and careless. They did a poor job of installing one of the drain lines, broke it when they came back to fix it and tried to charge me for the repair. It's clear that quality control is not a priority for ARS. Unresponsive Customer Service: After the installation, I noticed issues with the systems. One of the a/c units was surging within 4 months of install and I was told it needed coolant and would have to pay $500 to have it added. After several conversations with ARS managers, they installed the coolant but still tried to charge me for a service call to add coolant that should have been installed fully when the unit was installed in the first place. Also, both a/c units were installed on brackets, but they were not level. I called several times to get this fixed. The third person that came out (on the first 2 visits the technician said they weren't from the installation team and couldn't help) made several calls to his management before he'd fix the problem and then did a terrible job of "trying" to level the systems by jamming shims between my house and the bracket. (I'm happy to share the pics if anyone is interested and I can provide names of most of the people I have talked to). It looks terrible and didn't level the unit. I contacted ARS multiple times, and they finally sent out a technician. Again, he took photos, called the manager, and told me it would be fixed next week. Here we are at least 6 months later, no fix and the customer service is unhelpful and dismissive, and even my original sales person who promised help did nothing (happy to share his name too). They promised callbacks that never came, and my requests for a follow-up were ignored. It's frustrating to pay so much for a service and then be left in the dark. It's over one year now and I feel they certainly earned this bad review...actually they earned it a while ago, I've just been overly patient. Their lack of accountability and commitment to customer satisfaction is appalling. Save yourself the frustration and avoid them at all costs. ARS doesn't want my business and I don't know why. We are a repeat customer , we never had any issues and only praises for ARS. Until now. Let me explain: We had a comfort specialist come out to give us a quote for adding Zoning to our home. The specialist was great (at the time). he was quick and gave us a what we thought was a great quote. We signed on the spot and scheduled the install. The day of the scheduled install (Friday)... I called the Office midway through the day to find out why the crew hasn't shown up and to get an ETA and I was told " The install crew says they are finishing their work at another home - they will arrive at your home soon" Well... The crew never showed up. So at 5:00PM i called the ARS office again asking if the install would be rescheduled - ARS responded " I will have a supervisor call you in about 10 minutes". A call NEVER came so I called the Comfort Specialist Friday evening and he said he would be going back to the main office to find out what happened and he said he would call me back. AGAIN - he didn't call me back either, so I waited through the weekend. I didn't receive any calls on Monday so Monday evening I called the main Office and asked for a supervisor, after a 10 minute hold a supervisor came on the line and told me their was a computer scheduling issue. I explained that NO ONE has returned my calls and I wanted to know what happened and what would be next. The Supervisor said "Give me 10 Minutes to research and I will call you back" . Guess what? he didn't call me back. SO here we are 4 phone calls to the ARS No ONE has any details as to what happened and NO ONE calls me back and NO ONE seems to be interested in rescheduling. So It would appear ARS simply no longer wants my business. I have never been mean I have been understanding so I don't understand WHY ARS has ghosted me and just doesn't want my Business anymore. Your customer service is horrible! I scheduled an appointment for October 14th and they said they'd be here between 8am-12pm. No one called or showed. I called and was told someone would call me back. They did at 1pm and said with some people that had no heat they were running behind and would arrive at 3pm and would call 30 minutes prior to coming. I said ok no problem. At 3 pm I called back and was told they apologize and would have someone call me back shortly with an update. No one ever called. I get a message the next day from them to call back and reschedule an appointment. I was going to do the service plan yearly for HVAC tuneup. I called them back on Oct 16th and said forget it I found Michael & Sons cheaper and come out 4 times a year for check up. This is like 3rd time I've had appointments and they keep saying someone will be here and never show or call back after 3pm to say they weren't coming. Horrible Customer Service!!! read more

The worst home service company I've ever dealt with. Things have not gotten better since my last review. They've only gotten worse. I have never before looked forward to the end of a service contract and not having to deal with a home service company ever again. Until now. Their dispatch/scheduling screw things up almost every time. Requests to speak with a manager are met with "nobody is available" followed by messages left that are never returned. I asked to have a manager come out to resolve two conflicting recommendations from their techs. Their dispatch finally agreed. On the morning of the scheduled appointment, I get a call from someone who describes himself as a regular service tech who just got the email dispatching him to my address, and he is asking why it says "Mike only" (I made up a name...I don't recall which name he said was there). Realizing that their dispatch had sent a regular tech instead of the manager they had told me they were going to send, I told him to not to show up. As a result, I finally got a call from a manager, who was more interested in trying to justify their past actions than to show that they actually gave a crap about their customers. Everything she said to claim that they cared about customers was contradicted by every single action they have ever taken. I pointed out that the mere fact that their operations manager was completely unaware of the history when I had expressed such clear and significant dissatisfaction with them on multiple interactions tells me that their management either don't care to hear about these issues, or have created a culture where customer-facing employees know not to escalate. Either way, you run into a brick wall trying to get issues addressed. Bottom line, their customer service is crap and their management clearly do not care one iota. I've lived in 3 countries and ARS are by far the worst home service company I have ever encountered. If you're getting any HVAC work done through Home Depot, make sure they don't use ARS. That's how I was originally referred to these guys. Hopefully Home Depot will revisit their relationship and drop them. Do yourselves a favor...don't ever consider using ARS. Initially I went to Home Depot for the AC/Furnace they partner with ARS Rescue Rooter. I paid Home depot and I had my AC/UNIT and Furnace replaced. The AC Unit installation was not well done duebtobthe lack expirience with the installers.. over the years It has been a mixed bag with the service techs. Lack of expirience again repairs gone bad. No calls prior to the arrival of techs cancelled appointments .. No shows ( techs not showing up or hous late ofbthe scheduled time) The Call Center lack of concern and out right rude treatment (Hanging up on customers Rep Ray) they lie saying no managers are available yet after multiple calls someone finally get out of there chair and finds a manager) and or supposedly send emails and no one responds... So the latest again I am primised by a manager 2 times a tech will be out from 7-9 and and now a 3rd time no one shows up. 3rd time A manager apologized again and stated a tech would be out 1st call 7-9 today. This morning after multiple calls at the tech I have been informed the tech is leaving the office at 9am again... Lied to so far no show again! I called them because my heat stopped working. They sent a technician out immediately. He told me my motor went bad and it would cost 1600 to replace. They said they ordered the motor but couldn't give me a ETA on how long it will be. After a week of being in the cold, I decided to call another company. Outstanding! They could not have done a better job! Master Technician Joe Moore and his colleague Ernie installed a top-of-the-line Carrier Infinity HVAC/system in our home. First, they installed the system with perfection, custom sheet-metal, oversized the air filter box with with a trap door, one piece hood measured with precision, installed an air scrubber, and top-of-the-line Carrier thermostat. I would recommend them without thinking twice, they were recommended to me by someone that used to work for ARS (I got the inside scoop and I'm passing it along). read more

After waiting all day and 6 calls later was told that they cancelled my call and would need to reschedule for 5 days from now. Waited 14 hours for the tech in a hot house because they assured me I was next on the list . Their call operators are all liars and don't care about your issues. I was lied to 6 Different times. Terrible experience with this company. I needed a water valve installed behind my refrigerator (required for delivery and install). ARS Manassas sent Dillon. Dillon had no interest in actually doing the work and told me I could do it myself. I explained that I'm not comfortable with plumbing, but he insisted I should do it myself. Dillon made it a point to say he didn't even think he had the parts in his truck and I should check Lowes or Home Depot to do the job myself. However, Dillon had no issue charging me a $145 diagnostic fee on top of the $89 driving out fee. Let me be clear. Dillon didn't diagnose anything. He didn't check his truck for parts. He didn't even take his hands out of his pockets. I ended up wasting $234 on this sham of a service. Terrible experience. Go anywhere else. read more

ARS installed an HVAC 5 yrs ago and I've had a service contract with them ever since. On the Tuesday before July 4 my A/C broke down during a sweltering time in N. VA. The technician who came the next day told me that it needed a new motor and capacitor to the tune of $950 and that they would have to order the motor. It arrived at their shop two days later and although their tech said he would install it over the holiday weekend I was told by their customer service staff that the earliest they could do it would be the Tuesday after the July 4 holiday. I explained that I am 70 yrs old and suffering in the heat but it did not good. I asked to speak to a manager but was told everyone was on vacation. I then called two other companies and was told the parts were still under warranty. Finally, one company came over on July 5 and told me all I needed was a $75 capacitor -not a motor - and he fixed it for one-third the price. I was also told that it is not unusual for ARS to try to sell expensive parts. Although I had a service contract with ARS and they say they provide emergency service they did not. I was never able to speak to a manager or supervisor. I canceled my service contract with ARS and went with the company that actually responded to my emergency and fixed the A/C for the right price. I purchased a complete AC unit from ARS 2 years ago (May 2018). So when I had a problem, they were the first I thought to call. Mistake. While clearing leaves near the outside unit, I accidentally nicked the power line, the small explosion blew out the coolant line and it all leake out. I called on 5/4, and they got someone out on 5/5. When I called, I told them that I needed an estimate to send to my insurance company. Adam gave me an estimate, tried to upsell me on the member program, and said he could repair it right now. I told him my insurance was paying for it and I'd give them a call when it was approved. He seemed to not like that and left kind of quickly. Much later I noticed that he'd left the unit running without coolant. My insurance approved the repair and I scheduled Thursday 5/7. I requested Adam since he was familiar with the problem. Also, I was very anxious about COVID so I wanted to have as minimal contact with others as possible. They did not send Adam. The tech that showed up and said that he was there to "fix a leak." I told him no, it was way more. The electrical and coolant lines needed repaired and the coolant recharged. I started to get anxious because he approached me with no mask and I had to tell him to stop when he was getting closer than 6 feet. I walked him around the side of the house to show him and he told me that the refrigerant line "didn't look like it was cut." I didn't want to argue with him so I asked him to please leave. When I talked to customer service again, I ended up on the line with QA. She told me that they would send Adam on Friday, 5/8. But on Friday, I got a call from Adam who said he wasn't coming because he had to do some welding and it was raining. It was barely misting that day. He also told me that he was not working on the weekend. So now the repair was scheduled for Saturday 5/9, with a DIFFERENT tech. I asked Adam two things: 1) Was the tech going to know exactly what the problem was so that I didn't have to get into a lengthy explanation and therefore minimize contact and 2) were they going to replace the electrical line and not just tape it up with duct (I corrected myself and said electrical) tape. He assured me that the tech would be notified of the exact problem himself and 2) his exact words were "no ma'am, we don't do stuff like that." The tech came early on Saturday, and he said he was there to "fix a leak." By this time I was pretty incensed. I told him to contact Adam to find out what the problem was. Between phone calls to ARS, apparently he was told what to do and he started to make the repairs. At one point I went into the garage and noticed about 20 feet of electrical line going from my ceiling running down the length of the garage. I did not know what that was about. He called up to me at one point and said that he needed to go get a part and he'd be back. He left for about an hour and returned. After some more time he said he was finished and left. I called ARS to make the payment. After I paid, I went outside to look at the repair. I should have done this first. Because all he did was wrap the electrical line with electrical tape! This is an exterior electrical line. It never should have been exposed like that in the first place and all he did was wrap it in tape- something that I specifically addressed with them. I called QA and asked that Adam come and fix my A/C properly. She assured me that he would be the one to fix it and set up a time for him to do so. Then I got a call back and they said, no, Adam would not come. So I asked to speak to the manager. She told me he would call me soon, but he didn't. She called me back and told me what the manager told her to say. I concluded that the manager didn't care enough to be bothered to talk to me. At that point I told her that I was not paying for the service. I was invoking their guarantee that they tout on their "hold music" that if you're not satisfied, you don't pay. I told her under no uncertain terms, I was revoking authorization to charge my card. I watched my account the next few days to make sure that they didn't charge me for the shoddy work. I found out that the tech replaced the electrical line INSIDE my house running to the box outside. Also, there was a medal rod with a lock on it was broken off from somewhere and I still don't know what it goes to. I ended up having to call a separate electrician, who was APPALLED at what they had installed two years ago and what ARS considered a repair to that line. He said it was extremely dangerous what they did. He installed the correct type of outdoor electrical line. I also had to pay a separate HVAC guy to troubleshoot why it wasn't working when I tried to run it on 5/15. I am so done with ARS and I will never work with them again. I also caution anyone else from working with them. They do shoddy work, take shortcuts, don't communicate, and their techs do not have the knowledge needed to do anything beyond very basic repairs. read more

ARS was the contractor recommended by Lowes for a hot water heater install at my in-law's condo. I received frequent updates from the ARS team and was able to schedule a same-day estimate. My FIL said that the ARS rep was the only one to clearly walk them through all the options and did not pressure them in the least. The quote was fair, straight forward and there were no last minute changes or hidden fees. This was my first experience with ARS. Based on many of the reviews here, I was a bit apprehensive at first. I couldn't have been more wrong. My experience with ARS was great. I requested an estimate for two HVAC systems from Home Depot. They connected me with ARS, who subcontracts for Home Depot. I also requested an estimate from the other big box store and one estimate from a very highly rated, small, local HVAC business. The ARS salesperson's visit was good, thorough and informative. Andrew knew his stuff. He surveyed the entire house and ran a load calculation to help determine the appropriate size of my two systems. He also climbed into my attic to assess the viability of installing two new vents. He recommended downsizing my downstairs unit. He provided me with a reasonably priced, firm estimate, which beat the two other estimates I received. His estimate included everything I wanted, including the new vents. In fact, ARS' quote was over $6k lower than the small business' quote, which returned a quote for lower-tiered equipment of the wrong size and did not include two-stage gas valves as I requested, or the variable speed blower motor I wanted. The salesperson for the small business didn't even attempt to size my equipment. He simply showed up to replace exactly what I had. No interest in the size of my house, number of bedrooms, windows, sky lights, type of insulation, performance of current equipment... nothing. And no follow-up after the visit. ARS' quote and the quote from the other big box store were within a few hundred dollars of each other, with the other store's slightly lower than ARS'. However, the other big-box store's salesperson was not knowledgeable of the equipment. He wasn't able to answer a simple question about the two-stage gas valve (what percentage of total BTUs are output during stage 1 and then during stage 2). He didn't do much in terms of sizing the equipment or surveying my house. ARS quoted Carrier equipment, which I wanted because it was replacing very reliable Carrier equipment - a 35 year old furnace, which was still running great, and a 30 year old furnace that broke down in January. The other big box store quoted Trane equipment, which I like too, but with which I have no experience. However, the other big box store could not match what ARS included in their quote: additional duct work, installation of two new air vents in the master bedroom, two new Ecobee 5 thermostats (rather than their usual Nest 3rd generation), and 3 years labor. On top of that, Home Depot was running a promo, so I got two free Air Scrubber UV air purification lights. Every setup and home situation is different, so I'm not disclosing the quoted price... but you can be sure that replacing two HVAC systems ain't cheap! Andrew was very responsive to my multiple questions throughout the days that ensued and quickly provided me several revised quotes and different versions of the contract until we agreed on the final equipment and services. ARS also has 4 service guarantees, which they assured me apply even when contracting through Home Depot. The guarantees helped sealed the deal for me. I signed the contract on a Friday evening. The installation crew was here promptly on Monday morning. Again, not what I expected. About 6 guys showed up in a cavalry of 3 blue ARS trucks and went to work right away. Two outside, two upstairs and two downstairs. Very courteous and polite crew. All wore masks and shoe covers or removed shoes. They laid drop cloths on all the floors, stairs and on some of the furniture upstairs to control dust while cutting into the ceiling for the new vents. Throughout the process, I requested several changes to what they were doing, including some sledgehammer work to demolish an old concrete equipment pad. Each request was followed by an immediate and genuine-sounding "yes sir, no problem". The entire job took under 6 hours. All work was done to my satisfaction and equipment functionality explained to me. The crew cleaned up the house pretty well before they left. Observations: I did have some minor cleanup and touching up to do afterwords, but it was to be expected based on the scope and size of the job. No doubt in my mind they would have taken care of it had I asked. I found an oil (or refrigerant) leak on one of the AC units outside and notified ARS. They offered to come fix it the same day. It's mid-March so I'm not using the ACs yet, so I scheduled for the next day. I can't attribute the leak to ARS since there could be an issue with the equipment itself. I'll know tomorrow and expect it will be squared away. Office staff - Tina and Debbie - seemed very nice during my telephone interactions with them. All in all, a very positive experience. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I had an a/c issue and made an appointment with this company. A technician was scheduled to arrive between 8am - 12pm. The technician did not show. I called the company's main line 8 times after the scheduled appointment time. EIGHT TIMES. And each time I was assured that a technician would arrive shortly. So I did not call around for an alternative service. My last call was at 8:25pm, and customer service asked me to schedule an appointment for the following day. Really? What's hilarious is that they answer their phone with the phrase "how may I provide exceptional service." HA! This company is a joke. We are sleeping in a 90 degree room tonight. 8/3/20 On 11/4/19 I met with Tyrone Conard about getting a new Heating Pump System installed. Tyrone was polite, on time and very charming.   He went through all the details what the costs would consist of; as well, as the benefits and warranties.  We thanked the man and decided to think about and see if there are better offers other than just these prices.  In July, we had another agent come by and check out our Heating Pump System. The costs, installation and removal of our old unit were discussed.   Yesterday, I called Gilberto Corvetto and set up a meeting to get the ball rolling. I don't enjoy waking up in a pool of my own sweat. I meet with Gilberto today and we got the paperwork done in no time at all.  Things seem to go more smoothly when you have the money to get things done.  Tomorrow, I was informed the procedure can take 8 hours, but as long as the unit is working without problems, I we all will feel much better.  The words to the song Big Yellow Taxi come to life in my mind. "Don't it always seem to go That you don't know what you've got til its gone." Play back in my head. Infact after we get the AC running, India Arie's words will be running through my head. Especially the first part of the song. "You're like a cool breeze, on a summer's day You are a river running through the desert plain You are my shelter, from the pouring rain You were my comfort, even before the pain..." Oh man does it feel good to have air conditioning again. All it took was two checks and a bit of patience while Brandon the technician guy installed our new heating/air conditioning. Brandon, arrived on time and was very polite.  Since I was his only client for the day, he took his time and did things right. We also went over the finer point of operationing  the Nest Control  for our air conditioning unit.  Brandon explained about not messing with the equipment section of the Nest Thermostat Controls. This is for the matiance worker should they need to fix a problem in your house. Brandon  laid out tarp so there wouldn't be a mess on the ground. Suprisingly,  I thought there would be a least two people working on this project, but it was a one man job. My old air conditioning united was removed and it was amazing to see a medium size spider fall out of it.  The spider was dead, probably from lack of food, than the elements.  It was then that I learned Brandon wasn't a fan of spider or spider crickets.  Overall I am happy with the services ARS Rescue Rooter gave us and how quickly this was done.i would highly recommend Gilberto Corvetto and his team. If there is any company to avoid as far as any repairs are concerned, it is ARS Resque Rooters or should I say ARS Scammers and liars. This company ripped me off for performing a 5 minutes repair job and charged me $565 when i called them to do a diagnostic of my AC. When i wrote my review, a manager called Paula called me and promise to refund the diagnostic part of the bill and she has been avoiding me since then and will not return my call when i leave messages. She has not refunded the diagnostic fee she promise either. It is one thing when employees lie but when a manager who is supposed to eb credible take up lying as well, then that comoany should be avoided at all cost. On 7/4 we went out of town and returned on 7/6 to 90 degrees in our home. I called ARS and was initially told the earliest was Monday, but they worked it, so the Tech arrived by 9PM. He said the same fuse had blown again. He did checks to determine why, and said we needed Freon cost $350. Within an hour, the system shut down again. On Sunday, we called ARS and were told Monday at the earliest they could come. I checked the quick disconnect (which contains the fuses) and the connection of the handle felt very loose. The same fuse had blown again. I purchased new fuses--$24 for a pack of 2 at Home Depot, changed the fuse, and the AC kicked on. The fuse blew again on 7/9. I called ARS, a Tech came and said we needed 35A fuses. He didn't realize we had a 30A breaker and a 30A Quik Disconnect so we couldn't use 35A fuses. More bad advice! On 7/10, the fuse blew again. ARS promised my issue was being elevated, and a manager would call me. Never heard from them and I called to make another service appointment for the 11th. That tech said I needed to replace my Quick Disconnect as the side where the fuse was blowing was no longer making a good connection. I had an electrician change and it now seems fine. I think the initial tech was partially to blame as it appeared the quick disconnect was pulled apart to remove fuse causing the handle to have a weak contact and subsequent fuses were blowing. Now I am out of more than $1,200 from ARS and to date no Manager or Quality Assurance person has called us back. read more

Despite confirming an appointment with me and saying they were wide open, despite waiting around all day for them to show up, despite having. A confirmation email, when I call because I haven't heard back, they tell me the person I spoke to earlier in the day was 'after hours' (even if though it was earlier in the day?!?!) and that that person didn't know what they were taking about, that they were at capacity, and the appointment would be tomorrow but they wouldn't give me a time so... I get to lose a day if working waiting for an appointment I may or may not have. The phone rep was also rude AF. Their work is fine, but horrible customer service. Will not use again. I'd give one less star for making me waste a Sunday but it won't let me. read more

I called ARS when my AC stopped working. They installed the system and I previously had a great experience with them. They responded quickly, but that was the end of the positives. The tech misdiagnosed the issue as the unit needing a compressor and fan. He left saying it would be a couple of days to get parts. I called customer service and they said they couldn't give me a date....I asked if it could be days/weeks/months? They wouldn't say....it was 90+ degrees outside. All they said was the part had to come from NC. I called several more times over the next several days. Always a different person. No idea where the part was. If it had been ordered. They always "sent an email to the parts department." I eventually called another company. They responded immediately and found an insect stuck in the contactor. Removed it - unit runs. Simple fix. Solid diagnosis. I called ARS to cancel the part and request a refund. They said ok. The next day they called to say the part was in. I told them to cancel the repair and requested a refund. They said ok. The next day they called to schedule the repair. I told them to....you guessed it. It's been over a month and I'm still chasing ARS around for a refund, despite the "quality assurance" manager saying it was on the way. Not sure what happened to the old ARS.... I wouldn't wish this company on my worst enemy. They have put me through hell and I'm still dealing with their incompetence months later. It' has gone downhill since the day I signed my contract for a brand new HVAC system. My old HVAC wasn't broken. Actually it was working phenomenally. However I knew it was getting to be time for a replacement so I started looking into quotes. They promised a nest thermostat, lowered bills, and a quick Saturday installment. Guess what? My bills have tripled since the same summer months last year. Apparently the nest thermostat isn't compatible with my unit but oh cool, no refund for the cost I paid for that. They rescheduled my initial install day 3 different times quoting that the original scheduled day of Saturday was reserved for "easy jobs" and mine might be a little more complicated. So I had to take off work on a weekday instead, to accommodate their laziness. Broken promises after broken promises. The unit has continually week after week after week stopped working. Not fun in Virginia summers. I have now taken off a total of 10 working days to have "repairmen" and "technicians" come out and put a bandaid on whatever the issue is. Still unsure... At one point they identified a problem on Thursday and came on following Wednesday to fix it. I went Thursday AM to Wednesday AM with zero AC because of this company. I wish I had never replaced my old but still functional HVAC. Another time the technician kept blowing up the wires in this little box in the system. My home filled with smoke and he left saying I needed to call an electrician. I called the company and eventually they sent a more senior technician in out. The whole time he just kept saying how he couldn't believe what the other guy had done... Stay away from them. Not worth the headache and terrible service. read more

I signed up for the maintenance agreement. And I discovered that all they do with this agreement is come by and check your equipment and tell you what's wrong. They don't do ANYTHING to maintain my system at all. Here's the other thing. They sent a maintenance guy, but he felt like a salesman. He kept trying to pressure me to upgrade, get a new water heater, HVAC, etc. I wish he would just do his job and tell me what's wrong. Updated 03/26/19: Here's another thing. The salesman tried to prove to me that I needed the cleansing system for my water. He warned me against sediments building up in my pipe system. And do you know how he tried to prove it? By touching the hot water pipe that comes out of my water heater. He said, "See, it's warm." I'm not a plumber, but I'm not dumb. No one in the house was using hot water at the time, so I expect that pipe to be not hot. I said, "wow," but felt insulted and knew that this guy was going to try to sell me everything they got. So I said "No," even though he tried repeatedly to get me to purchase things. Anyway, try some local dealer if you can. Don't get the maintenance agreement. Like I said, I don't know what value it adds. And if you do get them to come, then be wary of what they try to sell you. read more

So I called the number listed in the response to the initial review. Left a message. No call returned after 4 days. AC went out Tuesday afternoon. Was able to schedule a technician to come out the following morning. Unfortunately our relatively new (and expensive :/) thermostat was bad. I listened as the technician called to confirm that the part was already available and there were openings to install within the next two days. I was sure to ask 'do I need to call to schedule?' and he answered clearly 'no, someone will call you.' 24 hours later I had an ominous feeling that I should in fact call. Once I did I was informed that the 'parts department' had not updated anything and therefore nobody would be calling me. This left me wondering how long I would have actually waited for that call if I hadn't followed up myself. Regardless, the earliest opening is now six days away. Somehow we've gone from the next 24-48 hours to nearly a week, in a matter of 24 hours, and seemingly because the business does not ensure proper communication or timely completion of processes. Don't get me wrong, the technician was great. I'm sure the business will simply throw him under the bus along with the standard 'we appreciate your feedback and strive to make everyone happy' party line nonsense that seems to follow every review on here, rather than actually explaining why the process that should have enabled us to have a functioning system in a timely manner failed to do so and now has us waiting nearly a week - due to simple inefficiency and lack of accountability. read more

Over the past 5 years, I've recommend ARS to at least a dozen of my neighbors for AC Repair and Replacement. We had 2 extremely positive install and sales experiences for duel zone home and the price was exceptional for both replacements. With the 2nd replacement, we stepped down from a 3t to a 2.5t unit at Pete G.'s recommendation to help manage humidity. This installation occurred end of Sept 2019. By spring, we started noticing that the system wasn't managing humidity and we had ARS out to service it in July. At that time, the unit was recharged and we were told there was nothing wrong with the system - we were just expecting too much from it. He quoted "The unit is giving everything it has" citing a delta of 17 degrees between intake and vent on the detailed service notes. After the brush off last season, we hired a different company to help us figure out the issue. Turns out, our interior unit - which is in our attic - and we've never seen - is only 2t. The work order for the purchase and the service call 10 mos later show the coil is Lennox CX34-31A-14 but the unit the 3rd party just took a picture of is a Lennox CX35-24A-6F-20. This is fraud. Sometime between signing the work order and completing the installation, the system was swapped for a different unit without discussion by the Mechanic, Brandon, and without any price adjustment. Additionally, when the technician, Ryan R., came out in July of 2020, he either did not notice the unit was only 2t or did not raise with us that the unit on his service order - per our ARS account - and the unit in our attic did not match. He did however, spend an extraordinary amount of time on the phone in his truck and then provided extremely detailed notes about how the system is working as designed. After the time in his truck, my husband called him out on being evasive and even asked him what he wasn't telling us. I've tried calling corporate several times since we learned of this over a week ago and have been told each time that they need 24-48 hours to research and will return my call but I have yet to have my call returned. And, you know that 100% comfort warranty? That's bogus, too because "The unit is giving everything it has" read more
