Your customer service is horrible! I scheduled an appointment for October 14th and they said they'd be here between 8am-12pm. No one called or showed. I called and was told someone would call me back. They did at 1pm and said with some people that had no heat they were running behind and would arrive at 3pm and would call 30 minutes prior to coming. I said ok no problem. At 3 pm I called back and was told they apologize and would have someone call me back shortly with an update. No one ever called. I get a message the next day from them to call back and reschedule an appointment. I was going to do the service plan yearly for HVAC tuneup. I called them back on Oct 16th and said forget it I found Michael & Sons cheaper and come out 4 times a year for check up. This is like 3rd time I've had appointments and they keep saying someone will be here and never show or call back after 3pm to say they weren't coming. Horrible Customer Service!!! read more

...on time and respectful of the home. The visit was for an a/c tuneup of my 20 y/o hvac system. Christopher Campo's performed the a/c tuneup and answered all my questions and emailed me pics of the unit and explained the issue. Jason Grey further explained financing and cost and was able to find me possible ways to save $. I haven't made a decision yet, but I am considering using this company. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I had an a/c issue and made an appointment with this company. A technician was scheduled to arrive between 8am - 12pm. The technician did not show. I called the company's main line 8 times after the scheduled appointment time. EIGHT TIMES. And each time I was assured that a technician would arrive shortly. So I did not call around for an alternative service. My last call was at 8:25pm, and customer service asked me to schedule an appointment for the following day. Really? What's hilarious is that they answer their phone with the phrase "how may I provide exceptional service." HA! This company is a joke. We are sleeping in a 90 degree room tonight. Less than 1 star. read more

ARS was the contractor recommended by Lowes for a hot water heater install at my in-law's condo. I received frequent updates from the ARS team and was able to schedule a same-day estimate. My FIL said that the ARS rep was the only one to clearly walk them through all the options and did not pressure them in the least. The quote was fair, straight forward and there were no last minute changes or hidden fees. Install crew was conscientious and professional and the office team followed up several times to make sure the final inspection went smoothly. Overall I was very impressed with their work. read more

If there is any company to avoid as far as any repairs are concerned, it is ARS Resque Rooters or should I say ARS Scammers and liars. This company ripped me off for performing a 5 minutes repair job and charged me $565 when i called them to do a diagnostic of my AC. When i wrote my review, a manager called Paula called me and promise to refund the diagnostic part of the bill and she has been avoiding me since then and will not return my call when i leave messages. She has not refunded the diagnostic fee she promise either. It is one thing when employees lie but when a manager who is supposed to eb credible take up lying as well, then that comoany should be avoided at all cost. VETERANS please avoid ARS Rescue Rooter. read more

I called ARS when my AC stopped working. They installed the system and I previously had a great experience with them. They responded quickly, but that was the end of the positives. The tech misdiagnosed the issue as the unit needing a compressor and fan. He left saying it would be a couple of days to get parts. I called customer service and they said they couldn't give me a date....I asked if it could be days/weeks/months? They wouldn't say....it was 90+ degrees outside. All they said was the part had to come from NC. I called several more times over the next several days. Always a different person. No idea where the part was. If it had been ordered. They always "sent an email to the parts department." I eventually called another company. They responded immediately and found an insect stuck in the contactor. Removed it - unit runs. Simple fix. Solid diagnosis. I called ARS to cancel the part and request a refund. They said ok. The next day they called to say the part was in. I told them to cancel the repair and requested a refund. They said ok. The next day they called to schedule the repair. I told them to....you guessed it. It's been over a month and I'm still chasing ARS around for a refund, despite the "quality assurance" manager saying it was on the way. Not sure what happened to the old ARS.... Stay away my friends. read more

I wouldn't wish this company on my worst enemy. They have put me through hell and I'm still dealing with their incompetence months later. It' has gone downhill since the day I signed my contract for a brand new HVAC system. My old HVAC wasn't broken. Actually it was working phenomenally. However I knew it was getting to be time for a replacement so I started looking into quotes. They promised a nest thermostat, lowered bills, and a quick Saturday installment. Guess what? My bills have tripled since the same summer months last year. Apparently the nest thermostat isn't compatible with my unit but oh cool, no refund for the cost I paid for that. They rescheduled my initial install day 3 different times quoting that the original scheduled day of Saturday was reserved for "easy jobs" and mine might be a little more complicated. So I had to take off work on a weekday instead, to accommodate their laziness. Broken promises after broken promises. The unit has continually week after week after week stopped working. Not fun in Virginia summers. I have now taken off a total of 10 working days to have "repairmen" and "technicians" come out and put a bandaid on whatever the issue is. Still unsure... At one point they identified a problem on Thursday and came on following Wednesday to fix it. I went Thursday AM to Wednesday AM with zero AC because of this company. I wish I had never replaced my old but still functional HVAC. Another time the technician kept blowing up the wires in this little box in the system. My home filled with smoke and he left saying I needed to call an electrician. I called the company and eventually they sent a more senior technician in out. The whole time he just kept saying how he couldn't believe what the other guy had done... Stay away from them. Not worth the headache and terrible service. read more

I signed up for the maintenance agreement. And I discovered that all they do with this agreement is come by and check your equipment and tell you what's wrong. They don't do ANYTHING to maintain my system at all. Here's the other thing. They sent a maintenance guy, but he felt like a salesman. He kept trying to pressure me to upgrade, get a new water heater, HVAC, etc. I wish he would just do his job and tell me what's wrong. Updated 03/26/19: Here's another thing. The salesman tried to prove to me that I needed the cleansing system for my water. He warned me against sediments building up in my pipe system. And do you know how he tried to prove it? By touching the hot water pipe that comes out of my water heater. He said, "See, it's warm." I'm not a plumber, but I'm not dumb. No one in the house was using hot water at the time, so I expect that pipe to be not hot. I said, "wow," but felt insulted and knew that this guy was going to try to sell me everything they got. So I said "No," even though he tried repeatedly to get me to purchase things. Anyway, try some local dealer if you can. Don't get the maintenance agreement. Like I said, I don't know what value it adds. And if you do get them to come, then be wary of what they try to sell you. read more

So I called the number listed in the response to the initial review. Left a message. No call returned after 4 days. AC went out Tuesday afternoon. Was able to schedule a technician to come out the following morning. Unfortunately our relatively new (and expensive :/) thermostat was bad. I listened as the technician called to confirm that the part was already available and there were openings to install within the next two days. I was sure to ask 'do I need to call to schedule?' and he answered clearly 'no, someone will call you.' 24 hours later I had an ominous feeling that I should in fact call. Once I did I was informed that the 'parts department' had not updated anything and therefore nobody would be calling me. This left me wondering how long I would have actually waited for that call if I hadn't followed up myself. Regardless, the earliest opening is now six days away. Somehow we've gone from the next 24-48 hours to nearly a week, in a matter of 24 hours, and seemingly because the business does not ensure proper communication or timely completion of processes. Don't get me wrong, the technician was great. I'm sure the business will simply throw him under the bus along with the standard 'we appreciate your feedback and strive to make everyone happy' party line nonsense that seems to follow every review on here, rather than actually explaining why the process that should have enabled us to have a functioning system in a timely manner failed to do so and now has us waiting nearly a week - due to simple inefficiency and lack of accountability. read more

Over the past 5 years, I've recommend ARS to at least a dozen of my neighbors for AC Repair and Replacement. We had 2 extremely positive install and sales experiences for duel zone home and the price was exceptional for both replacements. With the 2nd replacement, we stepped down from a 3t to a 2.5t unit at Pete G.'s recommendation to help manage humidity. This installation occurred end of Sept 2019. By spring, we started noticing that the system wasn't managing humidity and we had ARS out to service it in July. At that time, the unit was recharged and we were told there was nothing wrong with the system - we were just expecting too much from it. He quoted "The unit is giving everything it has" citing a delta of 17 degrees between intake and vent on the detailed service notes. After the brush off last season, we hired a different company to help us figure out the issue. Turns out, our interior unit - which is in our attic - and we've never seen - is only 2t. The work order for the purchase and the service call 10 mos later show the coil is Lennox CX34-31A-14 but the unit the 3rd party just took a picture of is a Lennox CX35-24A-6F-20. This is fraud. Sometime between signing the work order and completing the installation, the system was swapped for a different unit without discussion by the Mechanic, Brandon, and without any price adjustment. Additionally, when the technician, Ryan R., came out in July of 2020, he either did not notice the unit was only 2t or did not raise with us that the unit on his service order - per our ARS account - and the unit in our attic did not match. He did however, spend an extraordinary amount of time on the phone in his truck and then provided extremely detailed notes about how the system is working as designed. After the time in his truck, my husband called him out on being evasive and even asked him what he wasn't telling us. I've tried calling corporate several times since we learned of this over a week ago and have been told each time that they need 24-48 hours to research and will return my call but I have yet to have my call returned. And, you know that 100% comfort warranty? That's bogus, too because "The unit is giving everything it has" read more

On 7/4 we went out of town and returned on 7/6 to 90 degrees in our home. I called ARS and was initially told the earliest was Monday, but they worked it, so the Tech arrived by 9PM. He said the same fuse had blown again. He did checks to determine why, and said we needed Freon cost $350. Within an hour, the system shut down again. On Sunday, we called ARS and were told Monday at the earliest they could come. I checked the quick disconnect (which contains the fuses) and the connection of the handle felt very loose. The same fuse had blown again. I purchased new fuses--$24 for a pack of 2 at Home Depot, changed the fuse, and the AC kicked on. The fuse blew again on 7/9. I called ARS, a Tech came and said we needed 35A fuses. He didn't realize we had a 30A breaker and a 30A Quik Disconnect so we couldn't use 35A fuses. More bad advice! On 7/10, the fuse blew again. ARS promised my issue was being elevated, and a manager would call me. Never heard from them and I called to make another service appointment for the 11th. That tech said I needed to replace my Quick Disconnect as the side where the fuse was blowing was no longer making a good connection. I had an electrician change and it now seems fine. I think the initial tech was partially to blame as it appeared the quick disconnect was pulled apart to remove fuse causing the handle to have a weak contact and subsequent fuses were blowing. Now I am out of more than $1,200 from ARS and to date no Manager or Quality Assurance person has called us back. read more

My HVAC was installed December 2020. Sunday, March 28, 2021 My HVAC system shut down due to the pipes not draining and there was a leak in the drip Pan. The tech that comes out on Monday says the problem will not happen again. Today is Wednesday and the HVAC system shuts down again. I take a look and the tech had placed a piece of paper towel in the drip Pan under the sensor. This is unacceptable!!! read more

Buyer beware. I called this company to repair our heating system. The company representative was unprofessional (smoking cigarettes and talking on the phone most of the time). He got the system working and then it stopped again. He aggressively attempted to sell us an entire replacement system and insisted on having someone else come by for a "same day free estimate." I declined and paid $119.95 for the "diagnostic." The service provider left in a huff (given that I declined a subsequent sales visit) with our heat still not working. I called a more professional company to come repair the system. Come to find out, ARS Rescue Rooter's representative had actually fixed the problem but had then pulled the disconnect on the heat, leaving us with no heat in 26-degree weather. I called the company and left a message requesting a call back to discuss the poor service I received. No one has provided the courtesy of returning my call. This situation is worthy of a complaint to the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation. read more

Jason was the sales rep (which is a big understatement as he is very knowledgeable of the entire heating/cooling system, as he used to work on them). He was very responsive, provided a good price, and even came and stayed during installation just to over see things. Top notch! Alex and Bryan did the install of a complete heating and cooling system (minus the existing duct work). They did a great job. Everything looks great and works great. Could not have asked for better. I even gave them a nice tip, which I rarely do (it was New Years day). One of them will need to come back in the Spring to re-look at the refrigerant (this is normal for the first run of the cooling system), but I am confident that too will go fine. From my experience, I highly recommend! read more

Despite confirming an appointment with me and saying they were wide open, despite waiting around all day for them to show up, despite having. A confirmation email, when I call because I haven't heard back, they tell me the person I spoke to earlier in the day was 'after hours' (even if though it was earlier in the day?!?!) and that that person didn't know what they were taking about, that they were at capacity, and the appointment would be tomorrow but they wouldn't give me a time so... I get to lose a day if working waiting for an appointment I may or may not have. The phone rep was also rude AF. Their work is fine, but horrible customer service. Will not use again. After even more calls to customer service and a talk with one of the managers someone from ARS finally showed up on Friday(day#5). He does not seem to have fixed the problem though. It looks like he just cleaned up the drip pan and reset the flooding sensor. The sensor is left out of the drip pan too!! Even I know that's not the place for it. I can see water building up in the drip pan again. It is only a matter of time before I have to get on the phone again with these clowns! read more

ARS arrived 3 days outside of our 10-2 timeframe. When they came to replace a part on our functioning HVAC unit, 5 hours into it they BROKE it. They said the broken part was being overnighted, and we should expect a call to schedule the repair in the next day or two. 3 days later, without a call, we called them to find out the part is in transit. That's all. Like it's no big deal. Our house is cold. We have small children. "Management is aware." We asked them to put us up in a hotel if they can't fix what they broke and the nights are in the 30s. "Management is aware and should be calling us shortly." How many times are we going to hear that but not actually hear from management or get anything resolved. (We've called at least 4 times today, to answer that.) I asked them why they offer 24/7 emergency service if they can't provide service on an emergency they created. I asked them why they claim to have satisfaction guaranteed when they clearly aren't offering anything to help us be satisfied. Again, when they BROKE our unit. ARS IS THE WORST! read more

(Review updated after ARS arranged for someone to come out to address our concerns.) I'm not sure how to rate ARS, because I really DID NOT like our sales experience, but the HVAC installation itself was decent. THE SALES EXPERIENCE: The sales representative was extremely aggressive, and used every sleazy car salesman tactic in the book. He asked us how much we were willing to pay. He said he needed to call his boss on the phone to authorize pricing, and had his boss sit on the phone for 15 minutes while we negotiated pricing. He asked us what was the price at which we would be willing to sign on the dotted line immediately while his boss was on the phone and without talking to other contractors. There were a lot of theatrics with his boss, including exclaiming, "Oh my God! You have GOT to be kidding me! You're really going to authorize such a low price??" Despite these slimy tactics, we did end up going with ARS, because we'd already extensively researched HVACs and had gotten 3 other quotes already. The price we received from ARS was $700 lower than the next lowest quote we received (and that next lowest quote was for the less well known Heil brand instead of the Carrier brand). I ended up calling that other contractor just to check if he could beat ARS' price, and he said that a national company that received wholesale pricing would've been able to beat ARS' price, but he personally wasn't able to beat our price since he's a small company. So in the end, I think we got a pretty decent price, but if you think you might go with ARS, I'd schedule them as your last appointment out of all the contractors so you have more ammunition against them. THE INSTALLATION: As for the installers, I wasn't home to witness it. My husband said they weren't as customer oriented as some of the smaller companies we talked to, but they still seemed pretty knowledgeable. They cleaned up after themselves, and to my untrained eye, it looks like they did the installation correctly. I think it's hard to rate the installation experience for a nationwide company though. We dealt with just two of many installers, and there doesn't seem to be a way to request certain installers. (We tried to request an installer with at least 15 years of experience, but they told us it wasn't possible.) read more

An ARS technician who came for my next door neighbor told me that while he is working he realized from the sound that there is a problem with my A/C unit and he can take a look at it. I said ok. Then he told me to call the office and tell them that he is here and I want service. I called the office gave the technicians name and told them I want him to look at my A/C unit. Office sold me a yearly maintenance plan claiming that would save me money, I accepted and registered. Then they said I need to schedule, I said the technician is already here but they said I have to schedule and they will route him, or send someone else. They said they can not route him and make a schedule, I accepted. They gave me a vague time and told me that a technician will call me an hour before he gets here. Nobody called and technician just showed up in the middle of the night. He said a part is broken and it is under warranty and he needs to replace it. Even it is supposed to be warranty they still charged me for the part and for the labor. Couple weeks later A/C stopped working. I called the office and scheduled someone to come. They said a technician will call me. Nobody called 2 weeks past. Every time I call, I have to tell and spell my name, my address, my phone number, and my email address. I tell them can't you just look up my information, they say no. I don't understand what kind of CSR system they are using but it sucks. I called today again, I said I signed up and paid for yearly maintenance and can you check when it is scheduled. She had no idea about it. I said ok I like to schedule a service because the unit your technician fixed and replaced a part is not working again. I told her I called 2 weeks ago and nobody called back. Oh I also filled out the form through their website and no response at all. Anyway, she asked my name and I have to spell my name, my address, my phone and finally my email address again. I am very frustrated and I asked to cancel my subscription and get a refund. She said she will inform the office to contact me. Someone else called next morning, I have to go through same thing told her that I want to cancel my subscription and get a refund, she told me someone will call me. If someone else has to do it, why that someone else is not calling me and you are wasting my time again. read more

I hate to (badly) review a place twice but I just don't understand this company. I had them install a brand new ac unit this summer (see my previous review for all of the problems with that). It's been unusually hot out so I ran my ac a few days this week and there was a funny smell (not present with the heater running). They responded quickly after my call but the guy spend 20 minutes and said he doesn't know what it is. He didn't even bother to check the compressor just looked at the coils and left. No resolution except tried to sell me a $1200 air purifying system. My install agreement includes an option to have them remove the system and refund my money. Honestly I am considering doing just that in the spring and have a reputable company do a fresh install. Boring but bad luck with this company. read more

The worst experience EVER!! I used this CO before and had great experience but not this year. I called because our heater was out in Jan 2022. They said someone would be at the house that day before 3 pm. At 4 pm I called to see if they were still coming. They said yes I was on Jose's list he will be there that day. Called at 5 pm and got the same response. I called again at 7 pm now it's the answering service. Needless to say they never showed up. The next morning at 7:30 am I got a call from them saying I called the emergency line last night and what did I need. I explained I called to see what happened to the technician that I was promised he'd show up yesterday. The girl said, oh since it was a no show the'll have someone at the house before 12 pm. Of course at 12 nobody but he did show up at 3pm. The gut was nice but very difficult to understand. He told me it was fixed and started packing up to leave. I tested it & told him only cold air is coming out like before. There's no heat. He looked again and made many calls finically fixed it temporarily. He needed to order a part and call me the next day when it was in. The visit was close to $500.00 & he estimated the part and next visit would be around $400-$500 more. I told him the unit is still under warranty, which they installed. He said that's for parts and they don't cost anything. I tried several times to speak to a manager but they we never available and very called me back from the messages I left. Fortunately, I called a different CO that day & my unit was fixed and form1/2 the cost. Also, I still haven't gotten a call saying they got the part!! They said we needed a new compressor for our heat pump. The compressor was still under warranty but we would need to pay $997 for the coolant upfront. When they came over 2 weeks later to install it, they said we needed to pay another $3100+ for installing the compressor. We said we couldn't do that so we didn't have them do it. Another company installed the compressor and coolant for $1500 total. ARS said they would refund the $997 and over a month later we are still waiting. First we were told it would take7 - 10 business days and then after that time period had passed they said it would take 4 - 6 weeks - for "quality control". When they answer the phone and ask how they can give us exceptional service I'm thinking just give us what they promised. I feel they have no intention of every paying up. read more

I purchased a home that the previous owner had replaced the HVAC with Rescue Rooter during the previous year. When I moved in over the summer, the duct work was making strange noises - because every single fire damper was shut. After having one of their techs look at it, not figure out the problem, and quote an absurdly high price to replace the broken dampers, I went through a different company. The new tech determined that they had sold the previous owner a furnace that was too big for the home - it overheats the duct work every time the secondary heat kicks in. Do not trust these people, they are incompetent. I've also been receiving phone calls from them despite asking to be removed from their contact list. read more

This company installed our Lennox heat pump and new furnace 5 years ago. We have continued to have them service our unit twice yearly. We were happy with their service until last fall. The service since then has been extremely questionable. Last fall we had a problem with the unit as it the heat pump wasn't working correctly, it took them 3 different technicians to finally after a week fix the problem. Meanwhile, we luckily had heat but it was all electricity and expensive. We saved all of the diagnostics each technician gave us which was helpful because each new technician showed up not having a clue as to what the issue was or what was diagnosed previously. 3 days ago we discovered we have no refrigeration left, thus no air conditioning. The technician told us it was due to a slow leak. Again saving the diagnostics from prior service was helpful as it turns out the leak was from the $1400 part installed 7 months ago by ARS. He told us the part would be ordered that day, should be delivered the next day and then hopefully a technician could install it in a day or so. This in the middle of a week of 90 degree + heat. This issue was caused by a part they installed less than a year ago and now we are told we have to pay another $1400! We immediately called and asked to speak to a manager. We were told someone would call us back. No call, so we called again the next day with the response "managers have 24 hrs to call back". When 24 hours passed, we called again and were told the part was just ordered and managers have 48 hours to return a call. Still no call and no resolution. I do not recommend using this company as their customer service and technical service is apparently nonexistent! I am sure tomorrow the response from the call center will be the manager has 64 hours to return calls to customers. read more

We had been told by the manager, Anthony, that no one was available on that Thursday or Friday, so we agreed to Saturday. There was no apology or explanation for the no-show. We thought it was very odd that ARS Manassas was so cavalier about the appointment when we called on Saturday afternoon, given that we had purchased and installed a very expensive unit through ARS just a few years prior. We ended up using a different air conditioning firm from the ARS franchises altogether. read more

DO NOT USE. UNETHICAL PRICING ARS installed the furnace in my townhouse. I had an issue two years after purchasing the townhouse involving the furnace blowing cold air while on heat mode. This occurred while temperatures outside were around 10 degrees. An ARS service tech came out and diagnosed that the issue was with the thermostat itself, stating that is had gone bad. The ARS tech drew up an invoice outlining $119.00 for the diagnostic service and $585.00 to replace the thermostat. I asked the service tech for clarification that it was just the thermostat itself that needed replacing and he stated "yes". I mentioned that I understood that the thermostat costs around $80 itself, so where would the other $505.00 come into play to install it? He stated "you would have to know what you're doing and how to program it". Long story short, I replaced the thermostat for the cost of the thermostat itself ($80.00) and it took me around 30 minutes to wire 5 wires and program and it worked perfectly. After multiple attempts to contact an ARS Manager to discuss the pricing, the manager explained to me that the $585.00 quote to replace the thermostat was based on the service, not an hourly labor charge. I explained to her that $585.00 to replace a thermostat is not ethical however she was not able to offer any additional insight due to explaining "the prices are set by corporate". Again, DO NO USE ARS FOR SERVICES as they will charge you unreasonable prices. Additionally, when the service tech presented the invoice, the service tech recommended a $215.00 annual maintenance plan, a $1995.00 air scrubber as well as the $585.00 charge to replace the thermostat for a total of $2795.00 in services. Again, it's the middle of winter and it's 10 degrees outside. I contacted ARS for help with getting my home heated and am being offered unethical prices coming in close to $3k. DO NOT USE. read more

Called on a Wednesday - scheduled for Saturday. No one showed. Called to see why and they didn't have me on the schedule. Rescheduled for Tuesday after 3. Monday 10:30 tech rings my doorbell while I'm at work. I call to see why and verify that I'm still scheduled for Tuesday. "No one was at your house today ma'am." The hell they weren't - I have video of them. And I'm not on the schedule for Tuesday. We put me BACK on the schedule for Tuesday and verify twice. They had my phone number wrong over and over despite multiple corrections. All seems correct. I come home from work early on Tuesday and WAIT and WAIT. No one comes. I call back. They'll let the office know there was an issue. Fine. 9:15 at night an overflow tech calls to say he'll be here in 30 min. Um, no. I'm putting my daughter to bed. I'm in pjs. I'll try another company. I'm DONE with ARS before we ever got started. read more

One star because I can't do 0. My stupidity for staying with this company because it is easier than switching. They have now screwed up 3 appointments in 2 days. They have no idea what is maintenance and what is recurring or what is going on. There is an issue that they scheduled a follow up for and then removed me from the schedule. 5 hour window which is ridiculous and at the end of the window... oh by the way they're not coming yet. Not sure when they will come. Seriously, stay away from this company; they are completely incompetent read more
