Chicken biriyani, butter chicken, garlic naan
Ashley Z.

I've been intrigued by aRoqa for quite a while, so one night, when I was craving Indian food, we came in. No reservations needed for a Tuesday evening. aRoqa is definitely an upscale Indian restaurant, with a smartly decorated interior and nice bar. We ordered chicken biriyani, butter chicken, and garlic naan (basic, I know). The chicken biriyani was a modest portion, and I was pleasantly surprised to see an addition of crunchy caramelized onions on to (reminds me of a Mediterranean dish). This dish is bone in, and the chicken is very moist, but there were some chicken bits (tendon?) that I found myself biting into that somewhat soured the experience. The raita was much thicker than I'm used to, more of a creamy sweet addition than the usual thin, refreshing raita. This dish was just ok to me. Butter chicken was amazing. Obviously this dish is always good, but it was really delicious here, we surprisingly finished off the entire dish and I found myself licking the spoon at the end. The chicken chunks are large and juicy, but you'll need to cut them with a knife. Garlic naan was delicious - crispy, brushed with butter, incredibly flavorful. Just wish there was more to soak up the delicious butter chicken sauce. Service was very attentive, our waters were filled very quickly. Overall, solid meal. I'm not sure the slight elevation of Indian food is worth the hike in prices, but your options are somewhat limited in the area. I'm not dying to go back, but it definitely hit my Indian food craving.

Went here last minute for an anniversary dinner! The Sunset cocktail was delicious and crazy flavorful and the food was cooked perfectly! We were so happy with the service, our waitress Catarina gave great advice on what we should order, and she gave us a small side of masala sauce with our naan because she heard me say I enjoy dipping! The ambiance is romantic, with dark walls and warm lighting, and we did not feel on top of other diners.

Nice place in the neighborhood. Decor is quite modern and ambiance is nice and relaxed. We booked the place last minute looking for something outside of our usual "dining zone". The wait staff is very friendly and helpful. The menu has enough variety without overwhelming you and has a nice selection of veg and non veg options. The appetizer plates are perfect for two to three people but if you have more people, consider ordering two portions (usually comes in two or four pieces). Shared entrees are generous. We love Indian food but it's hard to find Indian food that uses higher quality ingredients - many places put too much cream or uses lesser quality chicken parts etc. you can taste the difference here - definitely better ingredients used. We tried the mushroom appetizer (Kataifi mushroom) which I highly recommend, and we also tried the dry pepper prawns - if you don't like heat, don't order this. For our main, we shared a chicken tikka masala - very good - reminds me of the kind you get in India, less like the over creamy ones here. The bread basket is a must try - if you can't finish it, bring it home! The basket will easily feed four people. With the basket, you can try all the variety of naans you get. If you have room, the dessert menu is pretty special. We ended up sharing the Coppa Pistachio - special chocolate and pistachio gelato with some sort of coconut mousse or something - amazing! We will definitely come back to this little gem.

Date night w/ the ladies and this was the spot chosen. This place is really a date night spot, it has that dark and moody look. Anywho, the drink of the night was the gin cocktail called a cultural impact. I was fan and probably would drink it all night if my liver would be okay. For food, it was a hodge podge of food for all. Our waiter was helpful and gave a bunch of suggestions. Chicken tikka masala Butternut squash ke kofte Lots of garlic naan There were a few other things but I can't remember the names. I was a happy full patron by the time we were done.

Kind of disappointed in this place. I wanted some Indian food and this place came recommended as a great modern Indian spot but ultimately didn't live up to expectations. It's definitely got that modern vibe with a contemporary decor and a nice bar. We were seated pretty immediately which was good given it was a Thursday night. We started with the Paratwala Paneer and Corn Paddu to start. Both were very good and had a playful presentation to them. A lot of different flavors going on and it was pretty good. Then we got the chicken Tikka masala and the butternut squash ke kofte. The Tikka masala was very sweet and almost inedible because of how sweet it was. Almost ruined the entire meal for me. The kofte was nutty and flavorful and thankfully although it had some sweetness it was much better balanced. I think as far as Indian restaurants go, you could do much better.

I love this place. So I finally got to try the pani puri which was completely divine. They don't give to go so you have to sit at the restaurant to eat it. I had it at the bar while I picked up other food to go it's a very different experience on this dish. First of all, the Puri's our substantial and seem like their homemade. I love the tamarin sauce and the caviar. type Bondi. The potato mixture was very good but they should give you two of those because you'll definitely run out. And the pani was fabulous. I brought home the doll and the AJ chicken which were both amazing. I think it was called AJ chicken. It was the boneless one. The dahl was incredibly creamy and fabulous and the chicken was wonderful. I asked for super spicy. Next time I think I'm just going to ask them to make it a number 10 spice level. What they did was a 7 to 10 spice level.

We were seeing a show and needed dinner in a fun and delicious spot. ARoqa really delivered. Modern fun delicious Indian food presented in super unique ways. They are know for their mushroom appetizer which we ordered. It wasn't our favorite but what do we know? We ordered a bunch of other apps each came with a fun sauce. The corn fritters were fun and good to share. The chicken tikka masala and chicken Biryani were my favorites. The service was helpful and polite. Of course we ordered dessert - the fried balls of heaven in a rice pudding. Perfect way to end the meal.

Imagine a variety of flavors and spices coalescing on your pallet. Every single thing we tasted was delicious and with a gorgeous presentation. Considering the small tapas style plates with high prices, it was expensive. But if you can afford it, it was an amazing culinary experience. The service was attentive, knowledgeable and accommodating. The decor was pristine amd classy. Well done!

This has become one of my favorite Indian restaurants in the city. Price: It's a bit pricey and many of the portions are small for the price but the taste of the food definitely makes up for it. Drinks are also pricey but they are unique. Food: The food is amazing! I highly recommend the Lasuni Gobi and the Vegetable Sweet Potato cutlets as appetizer choices. For entrée, we usually get the Dal Makhani and the Palak Paneer. The Okra special is also really good and I thought the Butternut Squash ke Kofte were unique and different. Overall the food here is very tasty, well seasoned, and a nice balance. Also, I'm not usually an Indian dessert person but aRoqa really knows how to make them and we always end up getting 2-3 desserts because of how delicious they are. Service: Everyone is so friendly and open to answer any questions. They check on you often and service is quick. Ambiance: The restaurant is beautifully decorated in a tasteful way. Everything seems to go together and they have even spent time figuring out the best dishware to serve the food in. The bar is classy and elegant. It's a good pick for date night or even a group dinner.

The food was amazing and the service was impeccable! The owner made a few recommendations based on our request to try something new - and her recommendations were delicious.

Butter Paneer Mac and Cheese aRoqas Bombay Frankie Rolls

Came here with a friend for Sunday brunch. Loved the black and gold interior design and ambiance was nice and chill. Ordered a cheese toast, paneer Mac and cheese, and Frankie's roll to share. All the dishes are super flavorful, the Mac and cheese has a hint of pumpkin flavor. The rolls are filling and fun. Service was nice but a bit slow. Most menu options are pretty special and niche. Would definitely come back to try more dishes!

We had the most fabulous meal at Aroqa! The presentation of pani puri was so cool and taste matched the look. The lamb chops were buttery melt in your mouth soft and delicious. There was mushroom dish in a pastry filling that was divine! ( I forget the name) We can go on and on , the famous Barara chicken lived upto the hype and my husband loved the lobster. The meal was topped off with some decadent dessert a crème brulle with gulabjamun - absolutely mouthwatering!! Will be back again.

Ambience 5/5 Food 5/5 Service 5/5!! From the moment I walked in, the romantic ambiance set the perfect mood for a delightful evening. The creativity in each dish was truly impressive; every plate was a work of art bursting with flavor. The friendly and attentive staff made us feel welcomed and ensured we had everything we needed. I enjoyed every dish and left with a heart full of satisfaction. I can't wait to return for more culinary adventures!

Going Sunday for brunch w/ my family, Curious if we're able to order from the regular menu During brunch? Or is ordering limited to the brunch menu? Specifically speaking about appetizers...

I went there for lunch and I ordered from the lunch specials and the regular menu. So I would say, yes, you can order from the brunch and regular menu. Only issue I had on a weekday was they opened an hour later than the open time displayed.

However, we never really got to it, having been busy exploring the Semmas and Bungalows of the city. On a cold Saturday evening my partner and I decided to give Indian Accent a shot - got rather last minute reservations over the phone. They were kind enough to accommodate us for a 7 pm slot, and once we got there we were seated immediately. We chose the four course menu, and found each course to be better than the one before! The shorba (soup) and garlic kulcha amuse bouche was a nice touch to get things started - loved the tiny terracotta mugs. Proceeded onto the shakarkandi chaat and the chilly pork roti - the former reminding me of the delectable street food in Delhi winters with the latter being a very good Indian rif on birria tacos. The star of the show for me was the Tofu medu vada - so unique and flavorful and melt in the mouth! I've not had anything quite like it before. My partner had the wagyu kebab that he said was excellent! For mains we had the chicken malai and the paneer - both tasty, but by this point we were already so full, and had to get most of the mains to go. But because there's always room for dessert, for our final course we scarfed down doda barfi with ice-cream and sticky toffee banana pudding - both of which were finger licking delish! Our service was great too - Ty our server was so nice and had the best recommendations. I'd have never gone for the tofu medu vada among all the other options and he urged me to, and it really turned out to be the highlight of my meal. The cocktails were good too. All in all, I think this is such a nice upscale Indian dining spot for a night out in the city. Having tried most of the other trending newer spots, i think Indian Accent sits right among the top! I'd highly recommend and cannot wait to be back!

A little corner of London magic right here in Hell's Kitchen!…read more If you've ever stood on a rainy London street, desperate for a bowl of proper Northern Indian food, you can stop romanticizing -- Jaz Indian Cuisine on Hell's Kitchen has that exact magic, and it's right here in Manhattan. The star of the show is Jaz herself -- the owner, hostess, and bartender all rolled into one wonderfully warm, charming British woman who somehow makes you feel like you've been a regular for years within thirty seconds of walking through the door. She's the kind of host who remembers how you like your chai and makes the whole room feel like her living room. Now, the food. The Chana Masala is deeply spiced, rich with tomato and chickpeas, the kind of dish that makes you question every mediocre version you've had before. The Saag is silky, fragrant, and genuinely soulful -- spinach that actually tastes like something. And the Onion Kulcha? Pillowy, caramelized, absolutely yummy -- the kind of bread you'll be tearing into long after you're full. The flavors here are the real thing -- bold, layered, and unapologetically authentic.
