Arizona Automotive Refrigeration fixed a freon leak in my 2008 Sprinter RV Van for a very reasonable cost. I highly recommend them over the Mercedes Benz Sprinter repair center here in Tucson which was unable to find the leak or repair it over the course of two years during which I spent over $3,000 with them. The Mercedes Benz AC repair techs seem to be incompetent. During three visits to the Mercedes center they repaired and replaced the compressor, the evaporator, the Schraeder fill valves, and kept the vehicle for diagnosis for a period of 2 weeks during which they drove the vehicle 85 miles and returned it to me with a screw in the sidewall of one of my tires. No...they did not replace my tire but instead they offered me a free oil change! In contrast the Arizona Automotive Refrigeration team diagnosed the problem quickly and replaced the condenser which had an obvious long term leak. One visit and $650 later, they resolved my problem. Kudos to Luis, Zac and Darryl for their professionalism, kindness and honesty. These guys are real pros for any automotive air conditioning issues. read more

I brought my car in to these folks recently after receiving a $2,600 repair estimate from AAA on Speedway to repair my non-working AC in addition to the $200+ charge for the diagnosis. I was absolutely gobsmacked by my experience with AAR. They were able to identify a leaking O-ring on the expansion valve and complete the repair for a total cost of only $213.41. A far cry from the AAA estimate. The AC now works as good or better than when the car was new. If you ever have any sort of AC problem in your vehicle look no further than Arizona Auto Refrigeration for service. You won't find better! read more

We have a 2012 Honda CRV and the AC had stopped working. We were getting nowhere with the dealer so I found this place on Yelp. With the age of the vehicle I expected the worst but all it needed was to have the freon recharged. There was no mention of anything else and they did not try to up sell me at all. On top of that they added die to the freon and asked me to bring the vehicle back in a couple of weeks. When I picked the car yesterday I was surprised to learn there was no charge for the second visit. There was nothing wrong with the AC but they still had to take the time to check it out. I highly recommend Arizona Auto Refrigeration, I greatly appreciate the honest service I received. The only knock was the wait to get the vehicle in, but being busy i take as a good sign! read more

This place should get negative reviews and put out of business. I took my 1981 Triumph TR8 in to have AC charged. After not hearing from them for 2 days called and was told they were working on and would call me. No call in couple days so called back and was told they were working on electrical even though I never authorized. Told me had to rewire to get fan to work. Finally after a almost three weeks picked up car. Not the worst though they put a 35amp fuse in a 20amp fuse line and fried my fuse box. Tried contacting them but they don't care. Told me would get boss to refund but never happened. I've given them almost a year. Taken me two trips to British Auto Service in Tucson to get fixed after all the damage done. Terrible and will be contacting better business bureau, Arizona attorney general, etc. so stay tuned. Do not take your car/truck here. Pay bit extra and go to factory or anyone else. Dropped my car off around 9am just to have my AC looked at because it wasn't blowing cold air. I did not hear back from them until I called a little after 3. The guy at the front desk "lost" my number. He told me he entered it wrong into the system...but it was correct on another form...then backpedaled saying the system sometimes puts in the wrong numbers...? He then tried to blame my AC not working from an accident I had 5 years ago when they didn't install the O ring properly...then says it was probably just from the heat...And as all auto places do he tried to tell me my cabin filter needed to be changed despite it just being changed. He then backpedals and says it just had a few leaves in it so he blew them out. This is a shady business and I don't recommend them. But my ac does blow nice and cold. Edit: I don't know how I forgot this part but they performed work without my consent. The guy at the front desk said he doesn't usually like to Spend other peoples money but he thought it was OK since he couldn't get a hold of me. read more

Never again. AC wasn't working too well. Took it to them as a recommendation from a friend. Asked them to evaluate what was wrong. They did a "top off" and said that if that doesn't work. I would need to take it back for the following: Replace Compressor, Condenser, Discharge Hose, Expansion Valve, evacuate and recharge AC (which is fair), expansion block, and rapidseal kit. They marked up the parts. Compressor from VW is $407, they quoted $459. Total job was just under $1,500. Got an independent AC mobile mechanic to come look at it (same day). Said there was a ton of air and they put the wrong fluid in my system, surprised that it worked as little as it did. Charged me $160 to clean it, flush it, and manually calibrate the AC gauge (or whatever it's called). Works fantastic! Better than it ever has. I went there passing though a road trip when my A/C gave out in one of the hottest temps I've been around in a long time. I read some questionable reviews on yelp and google but needed help since it was Friday morning and weekend was approaching. There was an older man and woman behind the counter as you walk in. I explained my situation and the lady was the only one that acknowledged me after I stood there for a while. She told me they couldn't help me since my problem seemed more complex than ac service. The lady told me that maybe after 2pm they could look at it but it probably wouldn't be solved. The man seemed grumpy and he only spoke when the lady asked him what he thought. He never looked at me as he just replied to her about my situation as if I wasn't there. I think this is the same man others have posted on being uninterested. I'm happy the lady guided me to their other location which sadly couldn't fix my problem either but I appreciated the options. Unfortunately I recently took my Enclave for a replacement hose and to have the A/C charged cost was almost $500.00 I no sooner got home and NO cold air i took it back and Mark kept the car over night. I picked it up and the unit wouldn't turn on?? Avetually I got it on still warm air . I was so upset thinking about what I paid $500 for he answered with they need another $1200 for air dryer!! HMM?? They are the nicest people here! I took my truck to a chain auto place because my AC was blowing out very hot air. The chain place gave me a list of things that needed to be replaced and quoted me $720. I was then recommended to bring my truck here by my brother in law and they got me in and inspected the truck and told me none of those things needed to be replaced and I only ended up paying $200 for repairs. And it only took them a day! They are life savers. They were very nice in explaining what was wrong and what needed to be replaced and double checking on things the chain place said I needed fixed. They also let me stay inside the cool air a little after closing as I was still waiting on my rental car pickup ride. If you want kind, honest, and timely done work come here! read more

I needed to get my auto air conditioner serviced because it was blowing warm at stops, so I called to make an appointment. When I walked in I was greeted by the owner who took my keys and had someone come take it back to be serviced. This is the epitome of small business in tucson, seemed like an old shop that had been there for quite a while. I felt like I was in good hands. My bill was $89 for a servicing which included the normal check up and top off. My ac is now cool, and thank goodness because it was 109* today. I was from out of town, on limited funds, and had a completely FAILED air conditioner. These people were absolutely marvelous. There were two parts of the system that needed to be replaced before the issue could be addressed. One of the parts isn't even made by the factory any more. THEY MADE THE DISCHARGE HOSE IN THEIR SHOP. Fixed the problem(s) and had me back on the road the same day. I posted a review over one month ago unsatisfied and disappointed in taking my Enclave to blow cold air. After all day there I was called and told 480$ to fix a hose a day charge ac system. I picked it up and the ac wouldn't turn on. No reason I was told that it was nothing. Recently,however, I ran into a big problem with a rude,macho employee who treated me very badly causing me to begin the process of bringing a small claims legal action against them. When I found out the owner had died just three days after he worked on my car I decided to give them one last chance to rectify the situation. I left my number and the business manager Kathy called me. She was very nice and apologetic and made prompt restitution for the problem. My car AC broke and Midas wanted to charge me close to $2K for a new compressor. Arizona Auto Refrigeration charged me HALF THAT in total- yep, $1K and it works perfectly! My car was ready earlier than they said, they stayed late for me so I could pick up my car the same day I dropped it off, and they even worked with me on a payment issue I had. My experience here was so bad. They did nothing and try to charge like crazy. I could not believe they ask for 60 bucks for the labor of replacing an air filter, and another 20 bucks for the filter itself. The price of such a filter in Amazon is 7 bucks, and it takes 5 mins to replace it. Unbelievable! Of course, I did not let them replace it, since it was so ridiculous. And this was just the beginning. So my AC did not work very well, and obviously I did not know where is the problem. I completely understand they need to go through the standard procedure, they have a price on that (40 bucks or something like that), still reasonable. At the end of the day, they say there is a loose connection of the cable to the compressor, they showed it to me and they say they will fix it. They ask for 80 plus dollar for diagnosing, and fixing, the price is a little bit high but I still buy it, since they can fix the problem and I respect their time. However, when I get back home, and open the hood. I was shocked. Man, they used a cable Tie, yes a blooding cable tie, simply tie the loosed one to another cable. Wow, they charged 10 bucks for the Tie itself. I feel like I was such an idiot. read more

My 2007 Altima with 103,000 miles started to have issues with the A/C blower fan turning on after 4 minutes after starting the vehicle. The air was cool and worked great, however I knew there was an issue. This was the first time having A/C issues with my vehicle. I did a lot of research on the internet in attempt to fix it myself, but I decided to leave it to the professionals. I was referred to ARIZONA AUTO REFRIGERATION, by my Chief at the fire department. I called ARIZONA AUTO REFRIGERATION and a guy answered the phone and I scheduled an appointment a week later because that was their only availability. The guy seemed rude so I dismissed it thinking he was having a bad day. I take my vehicle in first thing in the morning when they opened, since he gave me no other option in the day to drop it off. I spoke with Mike at ARIZONA AUTO REFRIGERATION and gave him a detailed description of the issues with the vehicle. Mike quoted me $49.95 to Check and service the air conditioning and I agreed. ARIZONA AUTO REFRIGERATION did not have any prices listed anywhere in the building or on paper. I left my vehicle there entrusting their professionalism. An hour and a half later I get a call from Mike stating that they traced the electrical problem and it was the blower motor. Mike quoted me the price of the motor and labor which I agreed to and I gave them my authorization to replace it. Mike also, (tried to upsell) offered to replace my air cabin filter which I did authorize because I have replaced it myself before for $20. I asked Mike to recalculate/quote the price for only the blower motor and labor and It was literally $100 cheaper (without the air cabin filter) . Three and a half hours later I get a call from Mike saying the are getting intermittent power to the blower motor and since they have spent an addition hour and a half in labor hours looking for the problem, and it will cost me an additional $156 to find the issue. I gave them my authorization to solve the issue, (which I was lied to earlier and was told, the issue was already resolved). I called Mike back 15 minutes later and argued with him and demanded that I do not want to be charged for a new blower motor and not to put a new one in, since the blower motor worked fine and the blower motor was not the issue. Hours go by with no update on the status of my vehicle. About 45 minutes before ARIZONA AUTO REFRIGERATION closed, I get a call from another guy and he tells me my vehicle is ready. I asked the guy what the final cost was and he quoted me $574.47 I asked him what they fixed and he said they replaced the blower motor, the relay and transistor. (I never authorized Mike to replace the relay and a new blower motor) so basically ARIZONA AUTO REFRIGERATION replaces parts without asking). He also said he lost the key to my vehicle and had the nerve to ask me if I left the key with him. I laughed and said you could not have fixed my vehicle without the key. He said he would look for it and to come down and pick the vehicle up. At this point I was upset, I went to ARIZONA AUTO REFRIGERATION I paid my bill and asked for the old parts that were replaced. He was nice enough to give me them back. I asked where the transistor was and he said it was inside of the motor which is a total lie, It is separate from blower motor. I asked him why didn't you just replace the transistor without replacing the blower motor, It costs $30 at Autozone. He gave me a cheesy answer that they are cheap parts. At this point I was so upset of being taken advantage of and lied to I just wanted to leave. He still didn't have the key, so the owner went out to my vehicle with me and I found them. The lessons I learned about ARIZONA AUTO REFRIGERATION: 1. They replace parts that do not need to be replaced so they make extra money on diagnosis and labor. 2. Prices are not posted. 3. Rude People working. 4. They do not update you on the status of the vehicle. 5. They upsell you on other repairs or replacements. 6. They lie about fixing the original issue. 7. They replace parts without your authorization. Do the repairs yourself. You can find how to do these repairs on the internet. I guess if you replace every part; that will resolve any issue, just like ARIZONA AUTO REFRIGERATION did. You might learn something, save money on labor and be more competent and professional than ARIZONA AUTO REFRIGERATION. I can't wait to tell the BBB, FTC, AGO and social media about this. read more

They had the car for a week as they said they had to order a part, and I had to call them to find out what was going on. The repair estimate was $1000 but the cost was over $1100 and not even a "thank you" or "we appreciate your business" from them when I paid. And then I discovered a couple of grease spots on my carpet when I got in the car to leave. I would have gone to Borst Automotive but they don't repair R12 systems. Can't speak highly enough about this locally run repair shop. I decided to save myself $$$ and replace my evaporator and compressor with a friend. I simply came here for an evac and recharge based on a recommendation when I was done. However, a hose immediately blew after the recharge. Rather than charge me twice, they allowed me to replace my hoses, return, and gave me another recharge at no additional cost. They didn't just make my day but made my WEEK. read more
