Street parking is metered, though you could find an off street parking spot and walk an extra block. Chairs are comfortable and music isn't too loud. The baristas were really nice when I asked some touristy questions and were really cute. If you're looking for a big city style coffee shop this might be your best bet. From the artful pours to the relaxing and bright atmosphere, Archetype is an all around fantastic coffeehouse. The fact that the staff often play obscure vinyl records for the patrons to listen to is incredibly charming to me. For example, I was in there working for a couple hours and they were playing some old forgotten record with a woman singing Beatles tunes. I loved it. It even distracted me from my work a bit, ha. (I'm sure some people might think playing records is a little gimmicky, and that's fine -- there are plenty of other coffee shops nearby). I usually just get a cup of whatever coffee they have freshly brewed. Big props to Archetype for roasting their own beans -- that's when you know you're drinking fresh, fresh coffee. And it shines through in the taste, that's for sure. When I want something even more fresh, I opt for a slow pour. Or when I have some extra cash and don't want to flush out my kidneys with way too much liquid, a double espresso it is. Seriously, anything you order here will be perfectly prepared and taste delicious. The only problem I've found is finding a table to work at. Sometimes I'll have to move around a bit, upgrading my spot from an easy chair to a small table as people come and go. But that's a good problem for any coffeehouse to have, right? read more

Although it's only been open for a couple of months, Archetype has easily and quickly become my favorite coffee shop in Omaha. Omaha's coffee scene overall has really improved over the last couple of years, but the addition of Archetype - a no-frills, specialty coffee shop - will really help start to put Omaha on the map. Isaiah and Daniel serve really good drip coffee, pourover, and espresso (the cappuccinos are incredible, and made with milk from local dairy Burbach's), and I love that they keep it simple. While some might be upset that they can't find a monstrous frappuccino-esque drink doused with multiple sugary syrups here, that's not really what Archetype is about, and I'd encourage those people to give Archetype a try anyways. Aside from the coffee, I love love love that they have fresh baked goods from different Omaha bakeries each morning, and usually some fruit as well. I want to like this coffee shop since it's in my neighborhood but I am having trouble. I love so many of the restaurants and bars in Blackstone and Blackstone definitely needs a coffee shop. I love the location and decor even though it's a bit too urban it almost comes off cold. But then that is how the whole atmosphere feels from the setting to the staff. They will take your money and give you coffee but for someone of my generation, it's almost as if they would prefer I was more hip and younger. Not only that, the coffee is a bit bitter to me. It isn't smooth and rich just rich and bitter. Feels pretentious actually. Like I need to pass an entrance exam to prove my coffee knowledge before being accepted. Located in the heart of Blackstone District, this place has a lot to offer. Sometimes I go here to work, get myself a coffee, hop to Noli Pizzeria for lunch, and end up in Coneflower for some dessert. Parking is relatively easy here. It is so easy to go restaurants and other shops here since they are all walking distance. Enough with the location, first thing when I come in the door is the fresh smell of brewed coffee. The decoration is very relaxing and nice, a place to both work and hang out. I ordered a Latte and my boyfriend got Mocha. My milk and expresso ratio in my coffee is perfect. Neither too milky nor bitter. We got a croissant, the texture is flaky and buttery, really outstanding. My dirty chai was five star- one of the best I've ever had. I was a little nervous at the $5 price tag for a small, but it came out in a much larger mug than I was expecting, so the price is comparable to everywhere else. I drove past it twice before I realized all the construction trucks were completely blocking the view of the place. It's buried between the big, red OXIDE and yellow MULA signs. The only reason this isn't a five star establishment for me is the noise. It's incredibly loud. Between voices bouncing and echoing off the walls and the music, there's no way I can make this a regular place because I can't read here, at all. This is the perfect place to meet up with friends and have a conversation or meet new people to chat with. The baristas are pleasant, as to be expected. Come here for those reasons, but not to study unless you have really good ear plugs or noise canceling headphones. I had to rush through my cup so I could get somewhere to study. At the outset, I should clarify that I did not have coffee here, so my review is based on their Sunday breakfast sandwich. I had heard that they have some breakfast options on Sunday. They had a biscuit sandwich with mushrooms, eggs and goat cheese. The biscuit was excellently baked. It was super fresh and was just the right amount of flaky. I loved it!!! The combination of eggs and goat cheese is superb, and I was very happy with my sandwich. The hot cocoa was pretty good too! Portion size was not huge, but along with the hot cocoa, it was sufficient to fill me up nicely. It would be nice if the sandwich came with some greens or fruits on the side. Love this coffee shop in the Blackstone District! I've visited this shop numerous times and am always so impressed. The decor is sleek and timeless. The staff are very friendly and extremely courteous (patient while I scoped out their other items for sale). The cold brew in the summer is AMAZING! Today I tried the cappuccino for the first time and it was delicious. They have a small cart to the side for you to add cream and sugar if you so desire. I appreciate that they've switched to a liquid sugar which will make it much easier to stir into my cold brews this summer. I usually come on Sunday mornings and quickly grab my coffee to go. Their cups are so cute! They have a unique design which I love to show when someone has asked where I've gone for coffee. They have fresh croissants and other pastries which pair excellently with their coffees. They also have small bites of chocolate in case you have a sweet tooth. :) It was busy this Saturday morning, but I was still in and out in just a few minutes. Great prices for high quality brews. Well geeze. I want to like this place! And I do. But it's just not my favorite. This place is a bit too fancy for my liking. The barista was friendly, but I felt like I totally should have worn something else besides my sweat pants and hoodie. It was pretty loud for a Saturday morning, and there wasn't a lot of room to study or do work. This is definitely more of a "let's grab coffee and chat" place you meet your friends. Super clean and minimalistic style. It felt more cold and stiff than welcoming and inviting. Not necessarily a bad thing, just not my vibe for a neighborhood coffee shop. I finally made it down to Archetype today to check this place out. I love love love coffee, so of course I had to try it but we just don't really drive out this way very often. So, today when I was in the neighborhood, we just had to stop by. I have heard so many good things about it! We walk in, the place is super clean and I just love the decor! The two guys running the place are also super nice and very helpful, since it was our first time in. We ordered a chocolate latte and a vanilla latte, iced and we stuck around a bit. Oh my goodness! I just LOVED everything about my coffee! The flavor was wonderful, almost tasted like chocolate milk with the smoothness of the drink. The coffee wasn't too powerful, but it definitely tasted like coffee. The best coffee I've had in forever actually! It was definitely worth the $4.75 and the calories! Other things I like about Archetype is the fact that it is not a chain and they make everything there. Even the chocolate! LOVE IT! Did Omaha need another hipster coffee shop? I mean, how many can this city actually support? It doesn't seem like any have gone out of business yet there are several new ones each year I visit. This is pretty hipster. It's like an art gallery, with its mix of white and brick walls, wood floors and atmospheric music, but you're surrounded by tables and the sound of coffee grinding. I just came in to work, which seemed to be the consensus among other patrons. But the coffee was quite good. I was impressed. Expensive though? Pretty much, but not ridiculous. Been passing through this coffee shop ever since the Blackstone District has becoming the new popular hang out place in Midtown but never really got the chance since they close pretty early and I don't live in the neighborhood anymore. Finally got my chance on a Sunday morning after dropping off a family member at the airport. It was around 11am when I walked in and there's a line at the counter that almost got to the front door long. From where I stand I can see that the cafe is also busy. Since it's my first time, I tried to read and get familiar with the Menu while waiting to make sure that I know what to order when my turn comes. The menu is super short and straightforward but honestly too short to understand as well Can't decide whether I want a hot drink or cold one, decided to get an iced ones. Saw Nitro in the menu and Cortado (which apparently not so much different from a cappuccino), so I asked for them. Didn't get asked for a size so I guess they only come in one size . I wasn't asked for name either except for whether it's for to go or stay. Got my iced Cortado pretty fast considering the line, but had to wait quite awhile for my Nitro which apparently got lost in the order if the barista didn't offer me a hot Chai after seeing me standing there for awhile I've always been a coffee drinker so I'm excited to see if their coffee exceeds my favorite coffee place. To my disappointment their Nitro is extremely acidic that I can't even drink it. The Cortado is good and I think will taste better if only I ordered it hot. I can also definitely feel the caffeine (the most important part of a coffee) which I like . I do love the atmosphere of the place and the friendliness of the staff but I feel like the price is pretty pricey for the size given. This has become my favorite coffee spot in town. Archetype is just all around good with prices moderate to expensive. They have a great covered patio out front and there is always interesting vinyl playing. The interior of the space has a modern clean look and has a somewhat hipster vibe. I usually get cold brew and most recently I had the nitro cold brew, which is the newest thing in coffee shops around here, but it was excellent if you like cold brew but a little on the pricey side. I have also have had their drip coffee which is around 3 bucks and made from their own roasted beans which I really appreciate. its pretty clear they really care about their craft. The only draw back is I am not a big fan of the seating (actually the metal seats) i am not a small person and find the seats a tad uncomfortable. read more

I asked for a flavored latte.... and got just a latte. Not sure if they do not carry syrups here, but he didn't say anything when I ordered and I either got very little flavor added or none. I got my order to go, so I didn't notice til I was in my car. The latte was ok, the blueberry muffin was very flavorful and filled with blueberries. I love the simplicity of this shop and I mean that in the best way possible. When you walk in the shop is long and narrow. The walls are undecorated with some exposed brickwork accents. The tables and chairs have a modern industrial feel. I love their emphasis in focusing on natural flavors of the earth to bring about the best possible taste and flavor as opposed to artificial ingredients.
