Where do I even start? We're on vacation from New Jersey--an area where we can get some of the best Italian food in the country, including decidedly some of the best pizza. Because my husband will go into withdrawals if he doesn't have pasta and pizza at least weekly, he searched out an Italian restaurant on Yelp and we found this amazing---no...AMAZING....Italian restaurant. Honestly, it's a restaurant that I wish existed not only in the Pacific Ocean but in every city in America--everyone should be able to taste their quality ingredients, visualize their perfection in presentation of their dish, and feel the friendliness and genuineness of their staff. I will admit that when dining out, I don't generally remember the names of servers--but after eating at Arancino on Beachwalk three times in the past two weeks, I can tell you that there were a few people who went above and beyond in making us feel both welcome and like family at the restaurant. We had a wonderful server, Sagiri ("SPAGHETTI" as she's called sometimes!!), who was so beautifully kind, funny, and probably one of the best servers I've ever had. Benjamin "Mr. Bow Tie" was incredibly sweet and attentive. He was never our server, but he attended to our table on more than a couple of occasions. It's so nice when you go into a restaurant and you're remembered from a previous visit--it just makes you feel good. My fellow Michigander friend, Dan, just rocked!! Out of all people who made us feel at home, he definitely did. The owner has clearly handpicked his staff to be the most caring, sincere, adorable, quality and service oriented and rises (unbelievably so) even above the food! Now that I've gotten the staff covered--on with the review about the food.
First of all, if you're still reading this review---JUST GET IN THE CAR OR GET WALKING TO THIS RESTAURANT. There's no need to keep reading. It. Is. Incredible.
As I've said, we visited this restaurant three times (and we're here for two more nights, so we might have to make it four times!) and each time it has been consistently EXCELLENT food and EXCELLENT service. If Yelp had a rating of TEN stars, I would still want to choose 11!!
The caesar salad arrived beautifully presented with some of the freshest romaine that I've ever had. I wondered if they had a garden in the back of the restaurant! It was accompanied by two anchovies on the side and three clearly in-house made croutons that were absolutely divine! My husband wanted to share it with me and although I wanted to keep it for myself (every.single.bite), I let him have some. Delicious!!
I wanted to try their pizza after reading some reviews on Yelp. So, I ordered the pizza with pepperoni and sausage. Let me just say that it was THE. BEST. PIZZA. EVER. The crust was thin and airy, the sauce was delicious, and the cheese---the CHEESE--there is no adjective to describe the taste. It was happiness for my mouth!! It was just perfection, in every way. It is absolutely enough for two people to share or for one person who is really hungry. I shared the pizza (although not willingly!!! with my husband. He also shared his pasta dish (Rigatoni All'Amatriciana) with me.
The Amatriciana was excellent. There was just enough kick in it (spicy) to please your tastebuds but not overly spicy (I don't like super spicy food!). The portion size was JUST enough for one person, but because my husband shared a bit with me, he always wanted more!!! (Even if I hadn't shared it, he probably STILL would have wanted more!)
The desserts were heavenly. Over the course of three meals at Arancino on Beachwalk, we tried the Tiramisu, Vanilla Gelato, and the Gelato Affagato. The tiramisu was hands-down the absolute lightest and tastiest I've ever had. Your taste buds will thank you!! The vanilla gelato was a refreshing end to the meal--creamy and delicious. The gelato affagato is a vanilla gelato and HOT espresso which is brought to you and poured, table-side, on top of the gelato. This is a perfect combination. I think my husband secretly wanted to add Sambuca to the espresso first but LOVED the espresso/gelato combination so much so that he ordered a second one that night. He was flying high for the next couple of hours but it was worth it.
If you're still reading this post, seriously...just go! You will not be disappointed. We weren't in the three times we visited---and I can't imagine that you will be either. This is truly a place that we will long for when we're back home in New Jersey.
THANK YOU, Arancino on Beachwalk, for allowing us to sample your cuisine and for treating us like family in your beautiful restaurant!! Phil and Lisa Contino, Middlesex, New Jersey read more
