I do not recommend coming here if you are bringing your kids, or if you're expecting a personable bartender.
I'm not sure I've had a more unpleasant experience at a brewery as an adult woman, and that's saying something. The bartender's angst and displeasure was palpable, and her dislike of kids was obvious. She spared not one smile or kind word for my family when we came in. Okay, not everyone is bubbly, sure. But the level of what my grandma would call "snarkiness" was truly unpleasant. When I came to the bar, I didn't see the usual overhead sign proclaiming what beers were on draft, so I asked what she had on draft. The response: a flat affect and proclamation that "The menu is right in front of you." Okay.... So then I said, "I think I'll try the hazy." Then she shared another gem of a sarcastic response: "So you want to just try it?" I mean, really? If you have such contempt for common colloquial banter, then why are you the first person people see at a bar, of all places?
And when there was a matter between me and my child that concerned no one but ourselves, she proclaimed to her across the room "you can't do that, it's a liability," in a way that was really shaming for my daughter, when in reality it was a small matter that I was in the process of dealing with, and was not resulting in injury to herself or any property in the brewery.
It was the first time I had been to Apres, and we had gone here to support a small business, but I will not be returning for a casual pint or otherwise. read more
