This star is not for this specific store or employees but to try to help others as I know this is happening EVERYWHERE from Apple employees not informing consumers. The first thing that Apple employees say before doing anything to your phone or replacing is "Is your iPhone backed up to the cloud?" No one has ever also said, "Are your photos fully synched to the cloud?" Until I realized my photos were missing last night and after speaking with Apple today no one has ever told me that backing up my iPhone to the cloud will not also save my photos if you are synching to the cloud. I even clicked back up my phone to the iCloud 3 times to make sure my photos were saved when I saw my phone acting a little funky. The girl yesterday asked me "did you back it up", I responded "yes, multiple times to make sure my photos were on there". That would have been a great opportunity before I paid for a replacement phone to say "Did you make sure your photos were synched as well?" When I explained that my iPhone synched photos but skipped an entire segment in the syncing but I didn't know that until last night everyone at Apple said oh, well yes, it should be synched first because the back up will not save photos. Cool, glad I was informed this after I gave you my phone. This store kept my phone yesterday afternoon. I went back to the store when they first opened and I was told my phone is gone and there's nothing they can do. Why isn't this information being shared? How many photos am I potentially not synching with each phone replacement because I'm not checking? I pay $10 plus a month for 2 TB of storage as I only use my photos for the most part. Why did I have to lose photos to learn this? Do better Apple. read more

I love coming in any Apple Store. A large majority of the team are helpful and knowledgeable and kind. I came in for a training as I just got my first MAC laptop. It is the MAC air and didn't know much as I have been using HP and Dell laptops. My training was for getting to know the MAC system. Training was good, however there were 3 of us and we felt a bit of a disconnect with the trainer. Going to sign up again or use the 1 800 number for my questions. read more

Luckily, I happened to be checking my email at the time, saw the order, and a quick call to Apple stopped that order from going through. Hats off to Apple for helping lock down my account! It was pulling teeth to find an employee willing to look up from their phone or stop chit chatting with other employees. Seems management here doesn't hire people interested in actually talking to customers. Once I got the attention of a worker clearly annoyed that I interrupted them from their game of Fortnite, we went through the process of doing diagnostics for what was the obvious problem of broken internal camera. After going through the same script twice, getting given an appt at the genius bar, coming back 20 min later and running through the exact same process, then after he fiddles around with his iPad 10 min later... with all the parts to do the swap, and claims he needs 3 hours to "schedule" the fix. Nobody has time for that, especially for a marginal issue like one of three cameras not working - so we just left. Apple is fine, but this store might be one of the worst run Apple stores in the country. read more

The entire company is now skewed to waste your time and have zero consideration for the customer. Wow TERRIBLE customer service! Please do yourself a favor and avoid this store! I made an appointment but still had to wait to be helped. The lady who greeted me was very impatient and seemed like she didn't want to be there. When someone finally came to help me, all they told me was they couldn't do anything. The whole back part of my Apple Watch came off and got stuck to the charger. When I spoke to an online Apple support rep, they told me to go in stores but this was a total waste of my time. All they said was this is not under warranty anymore and I would have to pay $299 to get it fixed even though it was clearly a manufacturer defect. We all had Apple SE's on our desks - which was revolutionalry for an office at that time. I had to buy a new mac and was finally switching from android to an iPhone after all these years. It was a friday early afternoon and a good time to get there b/c it wasn't overrun (though in the 2 hours we were there it did get crowded). We got Eric as our salesperson (they do NOT work on commission). He was a full 5 stars! - no pressure, explained everything and was great about hearing what I needed to do with all my music to get it over to the new iphone. The genius bar the next day to pick up the new computer they kept overnight to sync to my old computer started out as a but of a cluster. Despite having an appointment - they initially could not find the appointment or our computers. Eventually all sorted and they did indeed give me back my new computer with everything from old computer. Here's hoping these last me another 7 years. read more

She had a ton of knowledge about both hardware and software, and provided the best customer service. She helped other customers while I was waiting for a new iPad, and even apologized for multi-tasking. (totally didn't need to do that, but it was part of her professionalism). Love this apple store. The workers are all super chill. Had an appointment at the Genius Bar on a Tuesday afternoon and was 5 minutes late, but they still welcomed me in. Not as busy as the Stonestown location that I live closer to. Steven was great and helped me out. Left the store with a new charger for my 2015 macbook pro. The whole experience was seamless. I was very pleased with today's visit to Apple Chestnut store. The experience is so much better than I had when last at Apple Union Square. First off, the staff was diverse! The young man checking me in was African American. He was so polite letting me know that I could check in upto 5 minutes before my Genius Bar appointment. I browsed the shelves of the latest accessories and looked on the tables at the Mac Air and iPhones. Once I checked in, I was directed to a seat, my Genius bar expert was a Chinese American young lady. We went through some diagnostic checks of my old iPhone to determine the various issues I was experiencing. Figured out the issues and what to do next. Then I inquired about the various differences in the recent iPhone models. A sales staff member, Luis (who was Latino), came to guide me through the features. He was very thorough and patient to answer my many, many questions on the iPhone features and the various accessories that are needed for the latest iPhones! Did you know the old models of iPhone (like the 6) will be no longer serviced next year (2023)! The latest iPhones have glass front and back so they can be magnetically charged on a cordless rest but that there is still the option for a lightning cable but the latest versions need a different block to plug into the outlet?? I was asking so many questions. Luis was a peach and answered all of them. 5 stars for Luis! I made an accessory purchase. Will return to choose a new iPhone soon! He truly knows how to make a customer feel comfortable by going above and beyond to ensure they understand, can be trusted, and help the consumer make the right decision for themselves based off their specific preferences and lifestyle. Sloppy service here. Their people need to be vetted better and trained better. The supervisor there is so condescending. So here's my experience: 1. It was pretty spectacular that I walked in and got seen almost immediately. Had some very wonderful interactions with staff. 2. The Genius Bar was transferring data from an old computer to a new one. They actually phoned and texted the next day that it was ready. 3. Luckily I called to let them know I was coming to pick up. That's when they checked and said 'Oops! Actually it is not ready. We'll Let you know when it is.' 4. Eventually I got word it was ready and went in to pick up. The person who brought out my computers to show me was so bored, I almost said something but didn't. But, I did ask 4x to make sure that now I could trash the folders on my old computer and they would stay on my new computer. Yes he told me 4x, bored. 5. You guessed it. After I trashed and emptied the trash of important folders like business files, financials, programming... they disappeared on my new computer as well. I tried two different apps to recover folders but too hard for me. Even to follow the directions. 6. I went to Apple but they could not figure it out and when I said they needed to be accountable for their employees making these devastating mistakes, he, Mr. Supervisor not so Super, with his head tilted up, condescendingly refused and said at least we won't have that happen for anyone else. Like that was going to make me feel better about losing my 6 folders? He just BS after BS'ed me. And now I will need to spend anywhere from $300-2700 IF this company I found can even find my folders for my non-profit. Royal suck. Do not choose Chestnut APPLE. I should have gone to Stonestown where I usually go. Dang. And once again, I should have listened to my alarms with that 'Apple tech' cuz he emanated boredom and not caring nor being an effective support - which is why I asked him 4x if my folders would be safe on my new computer as I removed them from my old computer which I was going to use just for writing. And now I've had to cancel my writing retreat. Don't go to Chestnut Apple. read more

The team at the Genius bar helped me out! Emilio oversaw the whole visit, and also backing up my data and transferring to a new machine. The only thing that I wish had gone differently, and this has nothing to do with Emilio, is that when I first checked into the genius bar, it quickly became apparent that the person was not at the skill level needed. It took me some assertiveness and perseverance to get the engagement of a higher skilled person to assist me, but once we got going on that everything went pretty smoothly. And as it turned out, it actually took a whole team because we had to purchase a different machine and a new back up -- and transfer and back up all my data. I worked with Ming and Brean who were technicians, and Chet who is the manager. read more

Writing to address two serious issues. 1st SECURITY. Went yesterday to buy a Mac. There was no security at the door. First time I ever experienced this. Bought a computer, and they had no shopping bags. Walked out holding it in my arms and was immediately noticed a strange looking character who began following me walking to Steiner. Passed me and turned to face me. I ducked into World Wrapps who immediately helped. Gave me a shopping bag and mgr walked me to corner were my husband had driven to meet me. Guy had disappeared. My impression is that there are people waiting outside Apple now and this is a real security problem. I called the police today to speak to them about police presence on Chestnut St. They assured me that there is increased presence, were very helpful and took my info and said they would address it immediately. They assured me that they had a relationship with Apple to provide security and would look into why no one was there. I was happy to hear that they took this seriously, especially because Apple did NOT. I called the Apple Store to speak to mgr. Took me 1/2 hr to get thru. Explained why I was calling. Put on hold, nothing. Called back and finally spoke to a mgr. Ms Bosh who said that they sometimes have security but there is no guarantee. I explained what happened and asked why they always seemed to have security before Covid and not now? She was extremely brusk and repeated no guarantee. I mentioned it was very busy in the store and many people were making purchases and this was a big security risk. I asked if there was security today. She refused to answer. Hopeless. I said I was a neighbor very concerned about the fall off of shopping on that street and said it was a bad business decision not to take this seriously and hire someone full time to discourage threats. She repeated that there was NO guarantee of security. Again. Well, that's sure comforting. Helpful staff but I was early for my appointment and had to wait as they were short staffed. Told me to look around. Hard to believe that my salesperson wasn't wearing a mask. I should have switched to a sales person who was because most were. In response to this comment, on my call same Mgr said very, very coldly, that CA and SF rules have changed and it was optional. Wear a mask if that makes YOU more comfortable. This review is specifically about an employee named Chet who I had the unfortunate experience interacting with today, Sept 20th, 2022 at 2pm at the Apple Store on Chestnut. I went in asking for a courtesy battery replacement on my failing iPhone 12 Pro while I await delivery of my already purchased but delayed, iPhone 14. The Facts- I am part of the Apple Upgrade Program for my iPhone 12 and I have Apple Care (cost $269) for my iPhone 12. - With the Apple Upgrade Program, you basically lease your phone. You pay a monthly cost and then exchange your existing phone for the newer model every 1-2 years. With this program, over the course of the two years you actually end up spending more than if you bought the phone outright, but you get to upgrade. Apple makes more from customers on this program, but we get the newer phones as they come out. -I have never made a claim on my current iPhone 12 Apple Care- so I essentially spent $269 for the insurance coverage, but I have never used it. Why did I think I deserved a courtesy upgrade? I asked the "manager", Chet, if they could replace the battery at no cost because- 1. I have already purchased the iPhone 14 on Sept 9th and I am still waiting on my new phone-- due to Apple's delays. My delivery date has been pushed back to mid October. Their delays are not my fault and meanwhile, I am dealing with a phone that dies every 2-3 hours. 2. Per my contract with their Upgrade Program, I am giving my iPhone12 back to Apple -- as soon as I take delivery on the 14. So why would I pay $70 for a new battery on a phone that will be given back to Apple in 2-3 weeks? And the reason I don't have my 14- is Apple's delays! 3. According to Apple Care, they will replace your battery for free if it is operating at 80-82%. -- MINE IS AT 84%. 4. My existing iPhone 12's battery is dying in 2-3 hours after a FULL charge- and faster if I make a phone call. It also takes hours to recharge. My battery is not operating any where near the way it used to and my battery has become unpredictable and unreliable. 5. I have never made a claim on my Apple Care and my 84% was not far from the 80-82% protocol. Every heard of making a call to show appreciation to a customer? I explained I am getting married in 10 days and I need a phone with a battery that will last. I had assumed when I ordered the iPhone 14 on Sept 9, that I would have my iPhone 14 on time for my wedding on October 2, but because of their delays, I will not. As an aside, I purchased a $4500 laptop from the Chestnut Apple Store YESTERDAY. I thought between all the above, Chet could do me a courtesy solid and replace the $70 battery. Answer from Chet at Apple- NO. Customer- you pay $70. So, Chet explains that he thinks that, I, the repeat/loyal customer, should absorb the $70 cost to make my phone operate properly-- and then when I turn my iPhone 12 back to Apple in 2-3 weeks- so be it. Because that is "treating every customer the same and fair." Chet said that he "really appreciates" my 30+ years of business including the $4500 laptop purchase yesterday, but it would not be fair to replace the battery. I work in customer service- in my opinion, this experience was ridiculous. Is Apple just so big that customer loyalty or customer service means nothing? If you ask Chet, no. It doesn't mean anything. Apple & Chet- if you are reading this, I will be taking this to social media and will be sending a formal complaint to Apple-- and quite frankly, anywhere else I can think of. I told Chet that his behavior was a "missed opportunity" to value a customer and act like a human. I think Apple should think about their customers and evaluate what service actually means. Without us, you don't have a business- no matter how big you think you are. read more
