Very knowledgeable staff. They can fix nearly any problem with your PC. I've brought in boxes that had problems for weeks and they fix it in less than an hour sometimes. If the manufacturer of your PC/parts can't diagnose the problem, just bring it here and for a very reasonable price they'll fix it right up. Toptek also sells a very wide range of stuff and can tell you exactly what to get if you tell them what you want. Their parts are also cheaper, and they'll install it for free, unless it's something like installing a new motherboard. They can also special order stuff and have it within 2 or 3 business days. They have been reliable for the past 5 years I have been going to them for advice and help. read more

My wife needed to get the cracked laptop screen on her Dell replaced. The guy here gave her great advice on where to buy the replacement parts to get the best price (ie to buy refurbished instead of new, and in this case, to get it from Dell directly vs Ebay or a third party). His rates are half that of Circuit City and he is much more knowledgeable. He took less than a half hour to replace the screen and took care of disposing the old computer parts for us. The downside is that he is WAAAAY out there in the Sunset, and his storefront location is pretty run down looking. Cracked glass on the front door, hasn't been vacuumed recently etc. read more

I had them install a 250 GB drive in my PowerBook G4 12", in excellent condition. The service was quick dropped it off at opening and picked up by 5 PM the same day. They broke the Key Caps over the keyboard release screws and charged me an additional $20 for their error. The quick turnaround was great however latter when I tried to insert a DVD the slot was blocked. I went back to the shop the next day and the tech adjusted the keyboard to allow for the CD slot to accept a disc, no additional charge for this (as expected). All seemed good except I noticed the keyboard was not flush to the surface of the mac chassis. The next day I left on a month long trip out of the country with my PowerBook. The computer and drive have been working great, however due to the "fix" of the keyboard my screen now has the impression marks from added pressure from the keys aginst the screen. Plus the key caps they replaced have poped off from time to time. Needless to say they severely reduced the value of my Mac I will take it back to see how they may want to deal with this and report back. For now I would not recommend this shop due to sloppy workmanship by not paying attention to details. read more

I had a Nice computer. Asus P5N-SLI MB with Intel 6600 CPU with Artic Cooling, Twin nVidia 7950 GT Video cards, Raid HD, Creative XFi Extreme Gamer Audio and 600w power supply. I do not OC because I am not adept with it. I had a problem and took it to Toptek. I had been there 3-6 other times over a few years and generally no issues. First word out of the tech's mouth was WOW, after seeing my system. I told him the issue and said fix it. He said the Video caused a cascade failure. So -- he sells me an Intel DG31PR MB and a EGA 9600 Video card and a new power supply.He called next day and said it was fixed. $400++ . He says everything works -- He replaced the MB, Video and Power supply.. All 3 were dead he said -- All 3 werent DEAD when I brought it to him. I did have a graphics anomaly when I dropped it off to him. So -- I take it home (still trusting him) and commence the arduous reinstall process. When I get system operational the graphics are substandard, My Audio card will not work at all and I an generally in a mood to rip this guys head off. I dropped $2000 on this system and now he destroyed it and turned into a $500 small business piece of Junk. Will I go back there? Only if I want to purchase Air Cans. They can work on business pc's and replace some parts but obviously they do not have the capability to discern a high end system nor expertise to diagnose and repair the same without blowing it up and then telling you that you did it. read more

I ended up getting a nasty virus /case of mal ware in my Sony Vaio lap top. The closest Sony drop off service center is all the was in San Jose. After hearing and reading true horror stories about some of the experiences people have had with national chain computer repair "geeky" services, a friend recommended Toptek. They were FAST and totally trustworthy and reasonably priced. They restored my operating system and I'm good to go. They did such a good job, I had them reinstall Windows and the OS in an older Sony desk top that had died a few years ago. Again fast thorough and reasonable service. In both instances I was quoted a price and that WAS the final price. I highly recommend them -besides they are a local SF company and right in the Avenues . read more

I have dealt with TopTek twice. The first time they helped me and charged me not a penny. The second time they fixed a computer of mine (charged me less than $100) that another firm in the neighborhood had said was ready for the trash heap. Although TopTek couldn't fix it the first try, the tech just kept working and trying things until he found the solution. I can't say enough good things about them. They will give you the thing that works and save you a bundle. Some outfits will fix it, but are not so cost conscious. Ignore the less than stunning store atmosphere. They save money on decorating and pass the cost savings along to you. If you want to spend a lot of money, go to one of the more "beautiful" computer shops. read more

What a disaster my experience was. I brought in a 3 year laptop and asked the tech to transfer the data to a new Sony. He calls me back that afternoon and says the hard drive on the older computer crashed. He disclaimed responsibility saying I must have hit a bump in the road transporting my computer to his shop. He kept it a week, accomplished nothing, then offered to have the data restored at a charge to me of $1700. I picked up the computer and took it someplace reputable. I know Toptek has a good rep which is why I went there but I suspect the ownership has changed recently. Avoid at all costs. read more

I've used this business for the last 11 years whenever I had computer problems. My father used to make computers for IBM back in the day, and he recommended this place. Forget that big box store, they charge you for every little thing they do and you never know who's looking at your personal information. Van is a good guy and is fair and reasonable. My laptop kept crashing and a screen would pop up and I would have to reboot each time. It kept occuring more frequently and so I took it in to be fixed. The service was excellent, they fixed the problem, and I got my computer back in no time at all. read more

I've been using Toptek for about 7 or 8 years now and I honestly wouldn't take my computer anyplace else but here for repair. They are fast, affordable and friendly. I've had many friends also build systems for them and they've been very happy. One complaint? They open at 10...but on the other hand they don't close until 6 and if you call they'll hang out for an extra few minutes if you're running late. Yes, it's way out in the sunset, but parking is not a problem and you can always take a drive down to the beach after you're done! read more

Had another great experience with this little business. Years ago, I brought my computer to Toptek when it died and I needed data off the drive. They fixed me up for a fair price. Again, recently my laptop died and I was left in a bind with all my pics, docs, videos, music potentially gone as my primary backup also died. Van Ha helped me out - Van was able to retrieve all of my data off a Norton 360 backup for PC and restore on my new Mac - not easy for me, but easy for him! Went into the store and explained my problem. Younger of the two men in the store told me the part was expensive and it would cost $250 --took him about 15 seconds to come up with that price. Went to Bay Computer they fixed it tax and all for $150 -- so they charge almost twice as much for the service which would have maybe taken an hour. Avoid this place. read more

Toptek has great computer service at a reasonable price. We arrived at 10 am when they opened and about a half hour later our "dead" desk top computer had a new power supply and worked perfectly. We parked on the street right in front of the shop and the owner helped us carry in the computer. It couldn't have been any easier. read more
