This is an update to an earlier 5-star review. I've brought my Mac here for years and was so happy to have a place I trusted with my data. The work was excellent, the staff were personable. My recent experience could not be more different. I really don't need the attitude I got on the phone today. It's not like an interaction is about the job at hand, it's about whether a customer cares to return. 12/8/2019 Another five star review. My experience could not have been better.I brought in a MacBook Pro with a failed HD. Personable, courteous and knowledgeable, Rory was able to diagnose the problem immediately. Within two days, the drive was replaced, and -- not only was all the data intact: when I picked up my laptop, my desktop was configured exactly as it had been previously, with no loss of data. Perfect: file hierarchy and naming intact, and my computer is now much faster.Beyond that, I mentioned an intermittent problem, occurring with the mouse, which seemed to involve the USB port. He correctly identified a software problem and resolved it in under five minutes. A technician at a local shop had looked at the same problem, and informed me that the logic board would need to be replaced at a charge of two hundred dollars.Next to Berkeley Bowl West, with good freeway access. read more

The people at Apple & Mac Solutions were great! They were welcoming and assured me they could repair my broken spacebar on the keyboard of my 2019 MacBook Air. I had called another place in Oakland the the person I spoke to said that there were no replacement parts for laptops made after 2017 and I would have to replace the entire keyboard. He quoted me $350 to replace my keyboard. I called Apple & Mac Solutions and a person named Michael encouraged me to bring my laptop in and perhaps they could repair it. I'm so glad I did. After checking it out, they said they could repair it for $100 and do it while I wait. I am now using it and it works beautifully. They had to repair the machinery beneath the bar and replace the bar. I highly recommend their services. I would use them for any laptop or iphone repair. read more

Manu and Michael are both professional, patient, and knowledgeable. This is my 2nd time coming here based on a trusted friend's recommendation. Both time I received great service. First time I thought I had some virus issues. This time, my computer was in a doom loop not allowing me to restart. I really thought my computers was dead or at the minimum my data all wiped. I must say that very soon after I posted a really poor review the manager reached out to me, heard my situation and refunded me the amount that I paid as he agreed that I really got little value for $ spent and it's not the way in which he wants his store to run ( and it seems as if this is indeed the case because it really does have good reviews) . My ipod pro would not shut off by clicking top and side button simultaneously. Online info was no help. Apple Mac Solutions diagnosed and fixed my ipad pro in less than an hour. I am a professional photographer but not always the best with technical issues outside of camera gear. I had what would have been a CATASTROPHIC hard drive failure but they were able to save all my data, help me improve my backup systems so this doesn't happen again and assuage my fears, all while having me sip on a variety of beautiful, loose leaf Oolong and Pu'er tea brewed with care. I, in all my infinite wisdom, spilled water all over my 2018 12" Macbook with Retna display. Before finding Apple & Mac Solutions I called 3 other places all of which charged a fee for the assessment to tell me what parts are damaged and get an estimate. An 2 of these places I called before hand refused to even work on my laptop at all once I stated my model. Apple & Mac Solutions was able to access the damage for free and give me honest estimates and suggestions. They were extremely informative and responsive with all around great customer service. They were so helpful and priced so competitively that I even had my battery replaced on top of the water damaged parts that I originally came in to get replaced. While I did end up spending some money it was still much cheaper than getting a new laptop or going through channels like the Apple Store. Their repair job not only has my laptop looking as good as new, but extended its life as well! They finished the initial job within about a week including the time it took to order parts for me. On top of the speedy repair they even held my laptop for me until my next available day for pick up. I could not be happier with my experience! Everyone I dealt with was kind helpful and thorough, but a special thanks to Michael who was my initial point of contact and helped consistently throughout the experience. Solid Mac Solutions right here! My MBP 2019 16" stop working, they tried to diagnose it on the spot but something on the logic board was toast so they came to the rescue by fixing the board because I doubt apple would have done the repair-most wont touch it. They were able to get it fixed and salvage the data which is unheard of. It was slightly pricey but the owner worked with me and it was way cheaper than a new computer and when it comes to your data...well...it's priceless-it was worth every penny. Manu was so kind to us and saved the day. Our iphone 6 was not working and we could not communicate in order to get the necessary text codes to move forward. We found Apple and Mac Solutions and they saved the day in less than two hours. They were able to fix a totally messed up iphone 6, replace the black screen, etc. We then bought a new phone at the nearby Apple Store. One morning in may the track pad on my MacBook Air quit working. I called Apple & Mac Solutions and was told it could be replaced (another shop had told me to buy a mouse). The battery needed replacing anyway, so I brought it in. They gave me an estimate to replace the battery and track pad. Later they called me to tell me that the screw holding the track pad had become dislodged, and when it was screwed back in the track pad worked fine. So all I paid for was the new battery and installation labor. No charge for fixing the track pad! read more

This is a super late review - as I am now in the market and was searching mac repair, Manu's page popped up in search results and I remembered - Oh, I've used him before! A few years ago. Good to know he's still around and seems to be doing successfully. He was super friendly and easy to communicate with - this is before he moved or updated his office and had me drop off and pick up from his home, which at the time was nearby my own. I remember he had a load of used dog-gear (beds, bowls, etc) in a pile on the porch and we chatted dogs for a while. Turns out his pup had recently passed, sadly- and he handed to me some useful things. Anyway the mac repair went smoothly, quickly, affordably, and I'd vowed to use him again but sadly forgot. The last two places I took my equipment to when they came up due for repairs were less than stellar experiences but I'll be back now, as soon as he's ready for me when he's open for business again in this current covid climate. read more

I've never written a review before but you have to know about this place. It was Christmas Eve at 3:00. My MacBook Pro refused to take a charge. I called. The sweet guy on the phone said we are closing at 3 but I'll wait for you, I got there in ten, He tested and fixed it in five for a very reasonable fee. This is the BEST place to go if you need to repair your Apple device. The Apple "genius" bar spent 15 minutes with me and told me I needed to buy a new computer and that my data was lost.
