Leon helped me today with an older laptop whose fans were spinning like crazy. He spent an hour taking apart layers of casing, showed me where thick dust was blocking the fans, and fully fixed the problem. Tonight the computer is quiet and working better than it has in ages. Pros: Enthusiasm, toolkit, attitude, experience, integrity, ambiance (his office is like a scene out of Star Wars -- think Jawa). Cons: Enthusiasm. You have to communicate clearly to Leon what you want him to do vs. what you are willing to do for yourself. Remember, what he does costs (nominally) $70/hr. My experience: My computer wouldn't post. It was intermittent, but getting worse and worse. On a recommendation from a friend, I took my baby down to Leon. Initially, he mis-diagnosed the problem as a bad disk, sold me a new one, re-installed Windows, and recovered the user data from my old HD. But then he started restoring user accounts, peripheral device drivers, etc. etc. to the tune of $280. The total bill was $450. Urk. Well, I paid and took the baby home. 30 minutes later, the thing froze up and wouldn't boot. Arrgh! So, I took the baby back and Leon investigated further, ultimately determining that I had a bad motherboard BIOS (either b/c it was really old, or b/c of a botched BIOS upgrade on my part or b/c it was corrupted by my antivirus program which likes to do boot-time scans -- not sure). He then re-loaded windows and device drivers AT NO EXTRA CHARGE! He would have taken the new disk back but I kept it b/c I actually needed it for another purpose. My computer works fine now. Leon fixed a mysterious problem (c'mon, the BIOS? In an old computer? Sheeit). He showed uncommon integrity by not charging me for the cost of rework when his first solution didn't pan out. Leon is the bomb. His wife is really nice too. Recommended. read more

My mom has known Leon for 20+ years. He services all the computers at her office. Recently, my parents' home desktop got infected with a nasty virus. They took the processor to Domino Computer. Leon was able to diagnose the problem and fix their computer in 3 days. He had to clean wipe the system and reinstall new software. He only charged $140 total. Leon is incredibly knowledgable and trustworthy. If you have issues that need resolving whether software or hardware related, DC is a great repair shop you can depend on. I am very disappointed with Domono Computer's help removing a virus from my hard drive. After 200 dollars and multiple trips to Domino, the virus is still there. At first, Leon said he fixed it and sent me home. Two or three days later, the problem reappeared. Leon also removed my virus protection software (which I had paid for and which was recommended by Consumer Reports) and replaced it with Symantec without asking me. Neither software 'sees' this virus. I should say that this is a new virus, and that maybe for 'regular' viruses, Domino would be up to the task. I also gave Leon another computer asking him to make it run faster. He did do this, but he also messed up the settings for the wireless router. We cannot get onto our home router and he has been unable to talk us through getting back on to the router. I have since paid more money to find someone to fix this new problem. I will also say that although Leon does seem like a very nice person, he is not good at listening. I would ask him a question and he would answer another question instead and then talk at length about that. It was hard to derail him from his tangent and get him to answer my question. All in all, my experience with Domino computer was tedious, tiresome, super frustrating and expensive. I know that other people have had very good experiences with Domino; I found lots of positive reviews here and on other sites too. My bottom line is that maybe for viruses, he is not the best. read more

I wrote a review about Leon years ago when I owned a small medical business in Oakland. He rescued me on many occasions to keep the business up and running. I now do private consulting. On Saturday my old XP computer caught a bad trojan virus. Leon to the rescue again. He transferred all my 1000's of files and my very important Dragon history to my new computer. Wow - Windows 7 - what a difference. I was back to work on my new computer in one day.
