What can I say? I just love the Apple store! Amazing products, excellent customer service, need I say more? I decided it was time to upgrade my iPhone. As it was a weekend, the store was very busy, no surprise. I also happened to notice that the Microsoft store was almost empty, LOL! I had to wait a few minutes before they got to me which gave me the chance to look over the different options for the new iPhones. Jan was the Apple representative that helped me purchase my new iPhone. He was well informed and super pleasant. He did not try and "up sell me" but gave me an honest opinion about what the options were on each of the phones and what would be the best fit for me. He really took a lot of time going through everything with me and I did not feel rushed. I ended up getting the perfect phone for me. Ordered an iPad on Jan 1st and scheduled to pick it up on Saturday January 2nd. We had a pick up time of 11:30 am. We arrived early to try and pick up the iPad and leave before the crowds build up. We spoke to one of their helpful Associates who was able to help us grab the iPad well before 11:30. They had two lines: one for walk ins and the other for appointments. Came in two months ago to inquire about getting an upgrade for my iPhone. My last one was starting to not even let me update it any more and I was just running out of storage- which when you're a mom having a functioning camera to take cute pictures of the kiddos and send them to family is a must. If you were on island around thanksgiving/ Christmas and wanted a new iPhone you too saw they were next to impossible to get. Every Apple Store and att store on island were sold out so I just waited. And I don't know how long they've been back in stock but last night I finally ordered a new iPhone that was ready for pickup today already at the Ala Moana store. I had an appointment and was seen shortly after checking in. Being I had already ordered my phone online the process to get the new phone was super fast. Honestly, I've never gotten a new phone in less than 2 hours going through att so being in and out in less than 30 minutes amazed me beyond belief. The whole process was so easy going forward I'll always get my iPhone through an Apple Store vs my cellular carrier. Another plus- if you're military you can get a discount on your phone you just have to purchase the phone outright through the apple website and then verify your military card when picking up. Service is always friendly and top notch no matter if you're buying a new apple product of just have some questions. read more

Beware beware beware. Within less than a month after purchasing a brand new iPhone and iPad Air, the product screen went black and stopped working. I was told to turn it in to get serviced and in less than 3 minutes after receiving, a refurbished product is scheduled to ship out. How do I know this? the system tracks and informs you what is happening to your product each step of the way, if you sign it for it. Super disappointed after spending full price thousands for these items only to get sent a refurbished item and my glass screen protector is ruined because they tell you to remove it before turning it in. Once you take off the screen protector it's ruined. This is obvious after the pain stacking steps to put it on with no dust. The sticky side cannot be cleaned once dust and oil gets on it. read more

For such super high price items the wait to be serviced is on average 20 minutes. The person checking you in is courteous and takes your information. From my experience it's better to hang around the table and wait and pepper staff every once in a while with is it my turn yet. Comparatively to other Apple stores I have been in across the states..the staff here at this store are very friendly. It takes a lot of tolerance to put up with customers unsure of what they want but with a general idea. Kandy pulled my number and she is sweet and wonderful. I give her a 5 star rating for being patient, helping me with aesthetics, setting up my product while chatting with me about life in general. Sure the store is cool with the white interiors and the cool little gadgets. But..staff make the place less intimidating and a more welcoming place. One star because my girlfriend had a very bad experience. Her screen was having ghost touches, where the screen acts on its own. They said they would fix it, there were no iPhone X's left, and that they would fix the screen. They took it to the technician, and to another technician, and they ended up damaging her phone to the point of non use. They basically 86'd her phone saying they did the best they could. We are currently at an Apple store in San Francisco, where the service is much friendlier, honest, and communicative. The technicians here in SF said they shouldn't have even attempted a repair because the back of her phone was already damaged. We had a terrible experience with not one, but multiple Apple employees at the ala Moana location and that sucks. I knew that the service, and help would be much better on the mainland and I was right. They gave us a huge price cut with a replaced IPhone X! Even the manager here in SF said they shouldn't have attempted anything. Luckily for the ala Moana employees, I forgot their names so I can't call them out. Good luck. read more

They are pretty efficient here. I needed to get a different Apple Watch band, I checked in the front and they had me hang for about 3 mins by the watch bands. A decently friendly kind of awkward guy came up and measured my wrist. He he looked up the inventory they had in stock for my size, I selected a band, he grabbed it, I paid, and was out with a new watch band in approx 7 mins. Was a pretty successful quick visit..Will go back the next time I need some apple gear. read more

My screen got cracked when I was rushing. Just the front glass was cracked so I was to pay for the replacement. If you want to visit an Apple store in Hawaii, you only have 3 options: Ala Moana, Kahala Mall, or Waikiki. Even though Ala Moana is often busier than Kahala, I believe it is the better option because it's a larger store and therefore more organized when it comes to appointments, walk-ins, etc. Whenever my family needs a new Apple item, we come to this store after scheduling a shopping session with a specialist. This time around, we shopped with Nick. He was extremely helpful and gave detailed insights about the differences between the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air. We were in and out of the store well within an hour. Normally, choosing which electronics to purchase and actually making the purchase makes me want to pull my hair out. However, the specialists I've spoken to at Ala Moana Apple have always been patient and helpful, making the decision-making and purchasing process a breeze! read more

BEWARE!!! NO CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS AND EMPLOYEES PRETEND THEY ARE BUSY AND WILL IGNORE YOU!!!!! A few days ago I walked in to this store already knowing what I wanted to buy. I looked for a sales person to help me but they were either helping customers and the ones that weren't pretended to be busy on their phones and ignored me. So seeing how their game is played, I walked up to a sales person and said "excuse me, I would like to purchase an iPad" to which he replied "do you have an appointment ?" to which I replied "do I need an appointment to make a purchase?" and he said "yes, it would be better if you had an appointment". He asked what was I interested in purchasing and when I told him I wanted to purchase an iPad, he said "we don't have it in stock" then went back to looking at his phone.....WTH!!!! I then went to Best Buy and encounter very pleasant, courteous and customer oriented staff. Needless to say, I purchased the iPad I wanted and a keyboard to go along with it. Brought in a ipod 7th gen nano for battery repair. During my initial visit which was made with online reservation system, I arrived at the store 15 minutes early and was told to go drink a coffee or something and come back at my appointed time. Came back at my appointed time and store associated recognized me and pointed out a table to sit at, he was kind of vague as he mumbled something and walked off so I hailed another person who said he that I was in their system and someone would be with me. Tech person came over, took a look and said someone will get back to me within the next 2 weeks as my ipod was old and that the battery may not be available for my unit. So I walked out of the store thinking my nano was a lost cause and Apple is not so great. Was pleasantly surprised when I got a call from Apple about 4 days later that I could bring my unit in as they will exchange it out with a new one. This second visit went smoother and was in and out in about 10 minutes with a working ipod nano. read more

Great customer service every time we check out this store. Purchased a laptop recently and it was actually pretty fast. Also returned an older laptop for credit and that went smooth and fast as well. You do pay a premium for their products but their products last a very long time. I have a macbook pro 2013 and it's still running strong. read more

Service in this store is excellent!! Apple Employee La'akea, was very friendly and patient.  He walked me through the process of getting my cell upgrade and additional accessories I needed. He also gave me a good heads up as I am currently deciding which new wireless AirPods, told me to wait for the new Beats coming up in a week! His best interest is not for me to overspend on unnecessary GB's, but to maximize my spending as they aren't on commission-based operation. That I appreciate in the retail industry as I understand myself coming from retail in my past experience. After I paid he immediately walked away making me feel that  "thank you come again" last impression. I could have easily ordered online from home, but I wanted to see the different colors in person. Now that the store doesn't require by appointments for purchases, you can freely walk into the store. One thing I did notice as passerby's were going from island to island, he kindly mentioned to other shoppers that each table an employee has to facilitate with each customer/household. A unicorn is both a mythical beast and also a euphemism for something that is rare and hardly seen. The issue I had with my iPhone was one such unicorn. Only one year old, it had a problem that both Apple Support on the phone and the local sales/geniuses have never seen before. With the new Apple Card came a new revival to start using Apple Pay wherever possible so that you could gain that 2% cash back that gets credited to you in a couple days vs on the next month's statement like other credit cards. But alas, no matter how hard I tried, regardless how many times I added it and other cards to my wallet, my cell would not work with Apple Pay or any near field communication (NFC) devices. So I ended up having to make an appt to see someone at the Genius Bar. I was 5mins early and checked in with a young guy (didn't get his name) and he looked on his mini iPad and I pointed out my name on the list. He said ok, got me checked in and to have a seat. Time went by and still no assist. A friend of mine who works here saw me, said hello and said he would get someone good to help me. And in the meantime, he was gonna check on the queue and see where I was in line to be helped. Thank God he checked because I WASN'T checked in and my appt was cancelled. He said not to worry, and that he corrected the error and got me back in queue and that I would be next. Thank God. I was then helped by Raven. She was awesome! She asked what was going on. I explained what I had already gone through with Apple Support and how we reset everything and still the cell's NFC wasn't working. She confirmed everything I said, did a diagnostic check, confirmed it wasn't working then opted to erase everything and start from scratch if I was so willing. I was already geared for this to happen so off we went down this path. I just want to say how patient Raven was in helping resolve my issue. I have a larger than normal password and each and every time I had to enter it, there was no complaints from her side. When this erasing process was over and done with, she and my friend got to see the unicorn . They have never seen an iPhone with a malfunctioning NFC. The road from that point was clear. A full replacement was required and we went through that process of getting it assigned to me and having to go thru the painful process of entering in the super long password. This review is long, but I wanted to explain the whole situation from start to finish. I wanted to also give thanks to the service I received from Raven and my friend last night as they both provided awesome customer service. There were plenty of people waiting to be served but both Raven and my friend did not rush or made me feel less important than the next person. I was treated great and will continue to be an Apple customer because of it. read more

The Apple Store is such a different feeling and concept from your typical retail space. It's open and big, with bright screens and uncluttered areas of product. You don't feel obligated to buy anything, but you can come in to play and check out the new gizmos, take free classes, and learn about the newest products. I was in recently to buy a Christmas gift for the other half and was a bit scared it would be overwhelming at that time of the year. The store was busy, but there were plenty of team members all over the place with smiling faces. I found what I needed and was helped immediately by Nalani. She answered questions about the product as well as making other recommendations. When I was satisfied, she completed my transaction on the spot with an iPhone; no waiting in long lines. Receipts can be printed or just emailed. Prices are typical with what's quoted online; no Hawaii surcharge. I would definitely return here to purchase Apple products in the future! read more

I walked in and just like any other day it's always busy and it can be confusing if you don't make an appointment. The first person to make eye contact with me I had told him my issue with my husbands iPhone 7 Plus. He made like he was interested and rudely told me to check in with the gentleman in the friend who I must say was extremely pleasant. Not the initial person I met. I took a picture of the rude person see photo. I believe the person that checked us in was Ross??? He was extremely helpful. He took the time to listen to the concerns that I had and made an appointment for us. He definitely Made up in customer service from the person that I initially spoke with. I haven't been into the apple store since they no longer have the genius bar set up in the back. Who remember that? I thought it was great, but I do love their new set up! Looks bigger, and the over all look is very clean. Their stations have a sensor plug-in. When you wave your hand, it fold up, and wave it again, if folds back into the table! AMAZING! It all started when I decided to be a ding dong and closed my macbook pro with a 5-6 page stapled paper in between. Ya I know, why would I do that?! I was in a rush and didn't think, and when I got back to my office, my screen was cracked! Crazy huh what a staple can do to a $2k+ laptop! So I set up an appointment online to take it in that day. Walked in, and I was greeted by one of their associates, and checked-in. He directed me to wait for a Genius bar tech to assist me. We then move to that awesome table with the fold out plug, and the gentleman asked if I have everything backed up. And of course I DID NOT :( He was so nice, he brought out an extra screen to mirror my laptop since I wasn't able to see anything. And lucky for me my external drive didn't want to mount. So I had to purchase on in the store. Yay me! Once that was completed, he mentioned that it could take about 2 wks to repair. Which was a bummer, but it's okay. Thank goodness for having Apple Care, I paid a fraction of what the full repair cost would be. He set up my repair, signed a few things. And I was even sent a link to track my macbook, which was great! I got to see when it was received in to repair, and when the repair was completed and shipped back. Guys, it took 1 week to repair! YIPPEE! When I got to Apple a week later, again I checked in, and instructed to wait in the back like the last time. check out was quick and easy. The gentleman that assisted me during my pick-up, he went over the repair and made sure that my macbook was working properly before leaving the store. Thank you guys for all your help! I took my Macpro in, It constantly drops the bluetooth connection. It happens every 5 minutes or less. The tech was Maynard, and I brought my keyboard and mouse. He ran a diagnostic and said it was most likely the bluetooth module and would be about $160. I said fine, fix it, and they did. I was quoted approx 10 days to recieve the part, so I said I'll bring it back in when the part arrives, that way I would not be without my computer for almost 2 weeks without it. Part came in a day or 2 later, so I ran it back over to get fixed. Quoted about a week to fix it, it was done in one day. Great, better than a week. If that part fixed it. It didn't. I don't think they even checked it. So I'm out $160 and 3 trips to Ala Moana Mall, 40 mins each way. I ordered a USB dongle for $20 off Amazon, and it works perfectly now, I just lose a USB port on my computer. I've been a loyal Mac User since my G3 and OS 8. Its frustrating that a fairly common problem with Macs can't be resolved. read more

I recommend making an appt online --- but if you don't if you walk in they are super friendly and convenient . They have places in the front that you can wait for your name to be called. While I was waiting it seemed that there was a tutorial on how to use an iPhone -- I listened in a little and did learn some new stuff ! When I finally got helped (not a long wait) the tech looked at my AirPods and ran some test... he didn't really know answers but he got someone else that did & he also was able to learn from that experience which is great because everything is a learning experience. I dislike visiting the store because of the crowd, so I order my Apple products on-line. I called Apple Support initially, but decided to get my AirPod fixed at once and in person... I tried making an appointment on-line, but the web site didn't have the AirPod as a selection for visiting the store for a trouble call. So I called in for my appointment, and they happily obliged. When I got there, (for the first time ever visiting) I didn't know where to go to check-in? So one of the associate tech person pointed to the line, which I would have never knew because it is so crowded that I couldn't tell it was a line? The line is in the middle isle of the store with no sign or direction?? It was easy breezy once I checked in, they had me sit and wait, and the associate tech approached me when it was my turn. It was maybe a 10 minute wait? She had to replace my week old AirPod housing, (probably with a refurb) that now works great and my life is now back to normal. #teamapple read more

New phone problems I was hesitant to bring my brand new phone here but when my provider couldn't resolve the issue I had no choice. The location is not relatively close but closer than the Waikiki and Kahala location. I opted for the Apple Ala Moana store because of the appointment times available and the the ample parking. When I arrived the associates had me seat in a location for all those waiting for their appointment. The coordinator kept good tabs on the wait and would promptly inform you if the wait would be longer. I had to wait an extra 10-15 minutes longer because of the time the Genius Bar took to resolve other Apple Users issues. Once I was brought to the person at the Genius Bar I explained the situation and within 20 minutes it was resolved bringing the phone in physically is a must because I called Apple support and when they tried to help me they couldn't and I still had to go to the store physically to get the issue resolved. What I would do the next time the provider has problems I'll make an appointment at the Apple Store and have them walked me through the process so that I learn. read more

My wife and I love Apple products and we wanted to trade in an iPad and IWatch to upgrade to a better iPad. It was busy and the check in person did say there was a 15 to 30 minute wait. No worries. We waited 30 minutes and followed up. The check in person said they were short handed on specialists and that we were next. We waited 10 minutes and followed up to find out we were Taken Off the wait list! We were very disappointed as time is valuable and we put aside this time just for Apple. The check in person said he would make us a priority and said we were next "again". We waited a couple minutes and left. We hate being bothersome, but if you value your time, our Tip is to check back every 10 minutes to make sure you are not forgotten. read more

I have a love hate relationship with this Apple Store which apparently happens when I need emergency service and have to wait. I've said it before, I have the patience of a gnat with ADHD and being told I need an appointment never bodes well and usually drives me to drink at Longhis! Well, you need an appointment for the Genius Bar but not for everything. HB has been bugging me to buy the iPad Air2 and give him my IPad 3. I kept delaying it telling him I wasn't in the mood to deal with the "try wait" attitude of this store. Finally a couple of Sunday's ago after listening to my nagging spouse I called to make an appointment only to be told I didn't need one to make a purchase. So at 9:45 I left the house and at 10:05 walked into a jammed, packed and chaotic store. I almost turned around and left but a very nice young man asked if he could help and I told him of my desired purchase. He told me to wait and he would get an associate to assist me. A minute later my rep was at my elbow to help. If you know what you want, what color you want and the storage you want the purchase is a snap. We were not even fifteen feet into the store, she reached under the table and handed me my new iPad. I gave her my card, expecting her to have to run to the front cashier but she swipped it on her phone, I signed, she emailed my receipt, I got in my car and was home by 10:45. Yelp 365 Challenge #05/365 It has been said that once you go Mac, you'll never go back. Well, after purchasing an iPhone and a iPad 2...I am starting to believe that saying especially because I just bought a 27" Mac!!! *starts doing the running man dance* My honey and I have been saying to each other "let's look into buying a Mac" but we never got around to it. Our Dell PC was on its last legs to where a black screen now stares at us blankly. This gave us the nudge to decide it is time to crossover to the darkside. Now remember in my previous review how I raved about the speed of the transactions despite the crowd? Well, once again, Apple has not disappointed me! Within 30 minutes we got what we wanted with additional goodies at a good price considering I used my federal employee discount! I am just horrified that I did not get the name of the female employee that assisted us and gave such great deals. She was so helpful and enthusiastic (how can you not appreciate these type of employees?). What further helped this is my honey saying, "we might as well get the best", which meant that I didn't have a limit to spend. This alone brought out the shopping queen in me to indulge in savoring my apple. We walked out not only with a Mac but a free printer, discounted Apple Care, discounted Microsoft home/school program, a magic trackpad, and a FREE $100 iTunes card! Do I recommend Apple products? You bet I do!
