Food and atmosphere were amazing! This little whole is the wall is the cutest and most romantic place. The tables out front are first come first serve. The place is small, so make sure to make a reservation!

Manhattan cocktail

I really enjoyed my dinner here. The Manhattan cocktail was great. The mushroom cigarettes were crispy and delicious. The caviar was good and I liked the accompaniments that came with it. The confit canard leg was delicious and flavorful. The bread pudding was good too though a little bit dry. The service was great. The ambiance was dark and chic - the space was small inside but it made the vibe more intimate.

Really cute french wine bar that's perfect for a girls night out! Portion sizes are on the smaller side, so it's a good place to order a few dishes and share everything, tapas-style. Service was super friendly-- but do note that service charge is included in the bill. - Wine: 1000/10 (fantastic wine. Honestly the wine was the star of the dinner.) - Deviled eggs: 7/10 (ok but the taste wasn't as strong as I thought it'd be... it just tasted like eggs) - Foie gras pate: 7/10 (ok foie gras, but on the sweeter side) - Mushroom cigar: 10/10 (loved the mushroom sauce-- very creamy and flavorful) - Papardelle limone pasta: 10/10 (they kindly split the pasta for us to share. Very creamy and slightly citrusy-- def the best dish of the night)

I celebrated my birthday here and loved it. Apero is elegant and charming. I loved the ambiance and our meal. Three stars because the seating was extremely uncomfortable. The two-tops are pub-style and it was absolutely awful. I'm so sick of being uncomfortable during meals that I really want to enjoy. I couldn't even asked to be moved, because there was nowhere to move to. Then, it took forever for service. My partner reminded me that we couldn't leave, even though I wanted to, because we'd be charged. However, once our server came by, service was excellent. I forget our server's name, but she was amazing, and definitely made the experience better. I absolutely loved our food and drink. The drinks were delicious. I had the Starstruck, a passionfruit mimosa, and he had the espresso martini. Both were great. For our meal, we shared the gougeres, pickled vegetables, fromage trio, classic crepes, and crispy potato waffle. The fromage board was the standout, for sure. The cheeses were delicious and the accompaniments perfect. Pickled vegetables were tasty and the gougeres delectable. Crepes were light and crisp. The potato waffle with lox with the perfect savory brunch. Food and drink wise, I could not have asked for a more perfect meal. I really wanted dessert, but did not have room. I'd love to return to Apero, but not sure I would given the overall experience.

I have been here several times and each time is just great. I love the enter vibe of the inside and think it's a perfect spot for a romantic dinner. The outside patio is also a lovely option though. Service is always fantastic, have never had anything but exceptional service. As far as food goes I have never had anything that isn't wonderful and every plate I see I "oh I need to get that next time" Recently they ran their caviar hh all weekend for pride and it was the first time I was able to take advantage of it and what a treat! If you can make the hours it is offered it is definitely worth it

Loved this venue. My friend and I met up for drinks and a snack and this place was perfect for that. It's a little smaller on the inside but the decor and mode is perfect. It's great for a date night or meeting up with a girlfriend for an elevated night out. I would highly recommend

My girlfriend and I go out 1x a year to celebrate the holidays and keep up our gift exchange "tradition" by taking ourselves out to a bougie/fancy meal, and this year it was my turn to pick the location. I stumbled upon Apero while reviewing Yelp recommendations and was instantly impressed! my gf had never had caviar service before, so I knew this had to be the experience for this year. I was drawn in by the Michelin stars too. Upon walking in, it's instantly clear this is a hole in the wall/hidden gem like spot. The interior was nicely decorated, modern and complementary to the vibe they cultivate here. Upon walking in I was seated, as I made a reservation and found parking right out front. I was asked whether I wanted sparking or still and I opted for the bottle of still. The server was busy tending to many tables and once my guest arrived he came around to ask if this was a "birthday". I explained to him that upon making the reservation I labeled it a special event and he corrected me by saying "so....not a birthday". From there it seemed the attention waned. I understand this is a cozy spot but it felt as if they were rushing us quite often, even when tables were vacant. This restaurant automatically charges patrons 22.5% tip so I would expect stellar service. The food was honestly, remarkable. The deviled eggs with the house caviar was delectable and decadent. The house caviar was on the briny salty side so it worked with the appetizer. We also got the oysters with the pear mignonette. It all came ready to eat with the vinegar already perfectly portioned per shell. I booked for brunch, kind of expecting the lunch menu to be available to order the caviar tagatelli, but only brunch was offered. We split the pear salad and that was scrumptious too! We topped it off with a caviar selection that was more on the creamy and less briny scale and the chips and accoutrements were awesome. I didn't quite understand the waffles. We didn't quite love them. When we wanted more chips he insisted he would run it as an extra charge so we decided not to. We got 2 beverages each- one glass of champagne and one espresso martini. They are well known for their caviar and champagne so we just had to indulge in some bubbly. I asked for a sweeter option but ultimately settled for a brut champagne which was very nice. The espresso tini was very strong! Loved it! We ended the evening with the baba (cake soaked in rum) and braised apples. The apples retained their tartness and it was so yummy. We ordered tea as well. I had to ask for cream and honey. Overall, this place is worth a visit. Food gets 5 stars for sure, service is really the only reason this review isn't 5 stars. Keep in mind the preferred 2 hour block of seating time if you want to keep prompt and friendly service. The items we ordered were absolutely lovely. My special event was a hit!

A few of the caviars I tried, I enjoyed the polish caviar the best.

Apero is a hidden gem in DC!!! Tucked away in Georgetown, you could easily walk by it and never know. If you did walk by it I promise you that you would be missing out. First off, thank you Zina for an amazing experience. Zina was my server and she is the best of the best!! Some of the absolute best service I have ever had. I hope that when you visit she is working!! The food is top notch, everything was perfect. Not only is the food delicious but is presented perfectly. The highlight has to be their caviar selection. Let their servers help navigate their huge selection and then sit back and enjoy. The restaurant itself is an old row home that has been renovated beautifully. It's small but cozy and makes you feel warm and invited. Please go and enjoy, and if it's in the menu get the deviled eggs too!!!

I really like this place after stumbling in after a concert. Good service from host and bar tender. Sat the bar. Decor is relax but also a bit romantic. So, nice for a date. The bar stools are a bit worn though. I guess they are known for caviar and champagne but that was not our f&b though. Good wine selection. charcuterie board - that's just standard i would say but good for the wine bottle Radicchio salad - great salad that fits the bill although this may not blow your feet away Devils egg - beautiful and i guess you see many pics and it taste good Bread pudding - perfect finish and as good as the salad

Shani L.

Apero was amazing. I loved the caviar selection and the wine list was extensive. We all enjoyed the caviar happy hour and deviled eggs at the bar. Great value! The service was amazing and I definitely will return for reservations for a meal and table service.

While I don't typically go for French food, Apéro is a restaurant I'd visit again and again. Everything I ate was delicious and each cocktail was better than the last. I also felt the waitstaff was very attentive to what the table needed. I appreciated my water glass staying full, and the table being regularly cleared. I look forward to returning for their Caviar Hour

Deviled eggs
Chadwick D.

The deviled eggs were probably the best I've ever had. Bravo. Burger was great too, the chips on the side were weak, should be more creative here in the potato department. 22.5% auto gratuity is insane hahaha. Would consider not going back because of this. My opinion, 18% make sense with an added tip towards 20% by choice. Tipping culture is soooo out of hand. Staff were fine, but 22.5% fine??? Outdoor patio was nice but probably do away with the fake plants and water the real ones. Room for improvement.

Caviar service

I've been here a few times for food and/or drinks and appetizers. Their indoor dining area is very comfortable, but small. They have a great bar area as well. I enjoy most of their appetizers. They have a great deal on caviar and champagne if you can get there early or go later. They also have a nice front and back outdoor area. The staff is very friendly. FYI, there is a 20% automated service charge on top of the whole bill.

I was already impressed by the weekend happy hour deals. I started with the Aromatic whites wine flight (great pours for $12!!). All 3 wines were delicious and the bartender, Fabio was the best and very engaging throughout my time at the bar. I had the beef tartare and it was the best I've ever had! I then ordered a glass of the Domain du Somail Red Blend paired with the steak frites, which was the best pairing. I was stuffed but decided to get the crème brulee, which you could never go wrong with. It was the best CB I've had in a while. Dispelling the myth that French cuisine is pretentious, we felt like we were in a home, and that we would be fed full to the brim. Came in while it was packed late into the night. We were sat immediately and had a wonderful time. Our waitresses were patient and had great recommendations for our first time trying French food. They seem incredibly experienced and added comfort in the way they spoke to their customers and ran their tables. We were even greeted by the owner who was great and cheery to each table he visited. The one night we went, it was incredibly packed with people having intimate, lighthearted, and laughter-filled gatherings, tables with multiple rounds of wine, everyone sharing their fries, and so he should feel proud of this place. Touches like this made it as though we were dining in someone's house. And I love that they start you off generously with bread and butter. Its a type of french loaf that is nice and fluffy, and I'd recommend setting some on the side if you're ordering a brothy dish. We ordered Moules Marinières, which came in a delightfully large cauldron of juicy plump clean muscles swimming in an herbaceous-garlicky white wine sauce. Unassumable from the simplicity of ingredients they threw together, but incredibly complex in flavor. This is one of the few times I actually tasted bay leaf, and amongst the fewer times I found the use of rosemary not be so overpowering. The mussel liquor at the bottom was perfect when soaked up in bread. What an incredible dish. We also tried a classic, Le Steak Maison, which was also distinctively flavorful. Our steak had a perfect cook at medium rare, and was uniquely seasoned with some sort of blend of herbes de provence. The fries were pretty standard and substantial, but paired with the Béarnaise sauce, it was such a tangy play of richness and acidity. Again really simple ingredients just executed so well. Great job, looking forward to coming again to try more on this large menu.

I walked in and was seated at the bar. Rachal, the bartender, greeted me with a glass of water and asked me if I wanted a drink while I studied the menu. The restaurant space is very charming, giving off Parisian vibes. I ordered the Artichaut à la Grecque as a starter and the Salade Lyonnaise. The artichoke dish was simply delicious... steamed perfectly and accompanied by my new favorite sauce, sauce Ravigote. The whole plate was beautiful, but the way the sauce enhanced the flavor of the artichoke, not mask it, was just perfect execution. After taking my time with the artichoke, I switched over to the Lyonnaise salad... also simply perfect! The frisée was crisp and the lardons were cooked well. I'd say the only issue was the poached egg was a tad overcooked, but ever so slightly and it didn't ruin the dish. I sat at the bar after finishing both dishes and felt so much satisfaction from the food. The bonus was the lovely conversation I had with Rachal, at least until the rush of people started showing up... when I walked into the restaurant, it was quite empty, but when I left there was a line around the corner and every table was packed. I know why... If you're in DC, you have to dine here, you will not regret it!

There was no excitement, positivity or welcoming words. No one in the restaurant said happy Mother's Day or even Hello - they looked exhausted and like they were just trying to get through the evening. Perhaps they were overwhelmed and understaffed, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. The good: - clean seating area - quick check-in - espresso martinis and the French 75 were good cocktails - the vegan entree was good - the mashed potatoes were good The bad: - seated for three people at a table with two of the seats not fitting, one diner had to endure the meal with half of their back against a protruding wall and on a bench seam. - appetizer tray showed up missing one of the four appetizers, when we asked about it, they commented that they were out of it. They brought us some more cheese puffs. We would not have ordered that had we known. - we had to summon the waiter to take our entrée order well after the appetizers had been completely cleared - we had to share Waters when we could not get refills after trying a couple times - atmosphere was bland, didn't seem like effort went into the decor or the experience The ugly: - their signature dish was ordered medium rare: it could not be cut with the table knife and there was no steak knife because it's supposed to be a melt in your mouth dish. It was well done and had to be returned. From our seats, we could watch them inspecting it and talking while one of them rolls their eyes. They bring out another one that was cooked to order. - when we got the bill, they charged for both steaks which was an $82 charge. - again, we have to find somebody to help us with the check. There were no apologies and no offer for compensation for the appetizer, the service, the food, the overcharging, anything. It was really sad because that was to be a very special meal for me and it would be easy to at least try to make things right. :( Please know there are other things I am not including in this review because we are a family that has all worked in the service industry. I hate giving a negative review, but no way around this one. And, yes... my son left a substantial tip. We aren't jerks. :)
