Small, cute restaurant- love the exposed brick wall and lighting. I ordered a glass of Pinot bianco 2017, terlano. I ordered one of the special appetizers- an eggplant caprese salad. So good. My husband had the gnocchi with sage- amazing!! Ordered the scallop special. Best scallops I have ever had !!! Ordered the bread pudding for dessert- so delicious. Tastes like pound cake with almonds and marscapone cheese. This entire experience was amazing- the food, the service , the atmosphere. Nena was our waitress - helpful, fun, attentive. I actually ordered everything she loved and I loved it too. Would like to sit in the garden out back when it's nice out. Will definitely be back!! read more

The definition of a hidden gem! This place is fantastic! The staff is polite and the food is excellent. Antico exceeded our expectations and we can't wait to return. The scallops were a 10/10 and the ribeye was also a 10/10. Just amazing. read more

My favorite Italian restaurant in Chicago. Pasta fantastic, particularly the gnocchi with butter and sage. Ambiance outside perfect. Polenta with mushroom, squisito! read more

This was very disappointing. I had such high hopes after reading the reviews and none of the meals met our expectations other than the arugula salad, which you really have to mess up not to be tasty. The most disappointing were the sautéed spinach, which had such overwhelming garlic that one didn't taste anything else, the polenta, which tasted like cardboard (sorry - I hate to diss food but this was awful) and the chicken, which lacked flavor and was dry. Very sad - was hoping for a good Italian find in the hood. read more

A true Chicago gem. Great Italian food, ambiance, and service. Drinks were poured on the stronger side. I'll be bringing all out of town visitors here for the focaccia bread alone! read more

Such a cute spot. Delicious pasta appetizer which we split. Followed by 2 entrees chicken and short ribs which unfortunately inedible precludes a return. Sorry read more

We ate at Antico last night after driving to the city for some business related needs. The meal that we had was 10/10, the service was impeccable and the wine was hands down the best we have had! If you get a chance to eat at Antico, make sure you try their gnocchi - it may be the best you've ever had! Thanks Antico for the most amazing meal! read more

Neighborhood gem! This place has amazing service - super helpful and very attentive! Great recommendations. The food is the star of the show. Lots of small plates that were amazing. They had a special Lasagna that I am still thinking about 2 weeks later. the best i've ever had. Don't miss the short ribs, the risotto, and the gnocci in butter with crispy sage leaves. All were good. I would recommend Antico for any occasion. read more

Food was fantastic! Love the tagliatelle bolognese. Our server, Matthew, was attentive, knowledgeable, and overall amazing. And the beautiful patio is always so enjoyable. Can't wait to go back. read more

I love this place, and even though I live in Bucktown, I ALWAYS forget about it because it's so tucked away. I highly recommend the pappardelle and the chicken entree. The wait staff is very friendly, and they have great drink/wine options, too. read more

This ambiance is so amazing, been here for dates or to catch up with a friend. The outside space is temperature controlled. The staff is super knowledgeable about the wine list and menu items. 4 of us went and absolutely loved the food and the outdoor patio. Wait staff was extremely nice and helpful. Food was really really good. Great space! Very cozy and welcoming, and service was consistent. The food was mostly good, but a bit inconsistent. Items from the regular menu were great. The specials were hit or miss. read more

You cannot beat this place. The best food and most friendly staff. The outdoor tented patio was super warm!! It made our 4th anniversary both safe and amazing! We each had a four course meal. Calamari, house made sausage with fruit mustardo, lasagna (a special that is a must have!!), papadelle with pork ragu, lamb chops, veal milanese... and to end the most perfect meal was a red wine reduction panacotta!! read more

Year after year this continues to be one of my moat favorite restaurants in Chicago. I've been coming here at least 10 years now and nothing (I mean nothing) is bad about this place. The food speaks for itself. The pasta is perfection. I love the chill vibe too. Nothing pretentious about this place at all. Great food. Great wine. Great service. Never change, Antico. You are perfection! read more

Antico - Italian Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

A lovely, intimate place with delicious food & impeccable service. It's like a slice of Italian cosmopolitan culture integrated into a residential Chicago neighborhood. The scallop appetizer was divine and the fresh made pasta had the perfect tooth of texture combined with delicate sauces and perfectly cooked veggies. My dinner companions raved about the lasagna! We also shared a delightful, light & crisp white wine with dinner. We will definitely go back & hopefully sit in their darling "backyard" patio area. It was a great evening! read more

A terrific restaurant. I have never been disappointed--excellent Northern Italian wine selection. The food is implacable and not a pretentious place, and the service is excellent. read more

Good Italian food! Pappardelle bolognaise was unique and tasted great! Arugula Salad and Truffled Duck & Chicken Liver Crostini were great! Unique flavors and very authentic. Only complaint was the service was slow and not attentive. Had to ask for things multiple times and they are very stingy with their bread. read more

The ambiance is classy and romantic, and the staff is friendly but slow. We did the 4 course for $55 per person- great value considering their entrees alone are $30+. Way too pricey for what it is, portion is decent though. The menu wasn't impressive, but they did have a few off-menu specials.. Unfortunately nonetheless, if the restaurant rating was on food only, they'd get 1 star (for effort). The pan seared scallops were just okay, the lemon was overwhelming and you could taste the salt granules. The pappardelle with mushrooms lacked any sauce, so the pasta stuck and all you could taste was cilantro. The risotto was too wet. We got the short rib, which was a little dry and lacked flavor, and the polenta was bland. The half duck was cooked fine, but the skin was SO burnt, it was not edible. The spinach and white beans that came with it... why? The dessert was the only saving grace, but even that wasn't satisfactory. I didn't think you could possibly do gelato wrong, but it had too many ice chips (like freezer burn) and the fruit wasn't fresh (maybe also from the freezer). Sigh, I should've noticed most of the high ratings were from several months/yrs ago. read more

My family and I have eaten here and had pickup a number of times. The food is always great, every item we've tried so far. The staff is very friendly and accommodating for children. The food is more Italian italian than American italian, both of which are great in their own right but different. The cocktails and desserts are also excellent, and I'm not a dessert guy. read more

I had been there on one occasion and with so many restaurants in Chicago never went back. What a mistake! We sat on the patio, had a marvelous staff person who magically communicated the menu to us. The food was terrific and shareable. From the gnocchi to risotto to delightful pasta dish. Apps were great and 2 mains complimented a wonderful experience. Cannot wait to return for more food and a great wine list. read more

Consistently great food and service. We first went in 2013 and have been back several times throughout the years. Reliably great, especially on their back patio in the summer. read more

It's very hard to decide what was the best: Antico excels in service, quality of food, ambiance, and just a wonderful sense of well-being and enjoyment while you are there. Every person who works there was lovely; the food was absolutely delicious; the food and wine recommendations were spot on, and it was just a wonderful place to be. I could not recommend it more highly. read more

This cozy neighborhood place has everything! We wanted to try literally everything on the menu but we settled on the liver mousse, bone marrow, and the specials that included salmon and some of of the best scallops we've ever had. The service was top notch. It truly felt like visiting and catching up with some old friends over some amazing food. Tuesday nights they have half off wine bottles and for the winter they have a well heated patio out back that might just be bucktowns best kept secret. I highly recommend this local treasure and we are already figuring out when to go back! read more

One of the best and most underrated Italian restaurant in the city. In a way, I'm not surprised that there are so few reviews because most people don't even know Antico exists. A few weeks ago, we had a lovely dinner in their outdoor area. You're technically in the "yard" section of the property, but they've decorated it so it feels like a bistro garden. And although every table was occupied, it still felt intimate. The crowd was varied: families, older couples, younger people with a large birthday party, etc. We couldn't agree on a wine, so decided to get individual glasses instead. Our server was very helpful and even brought over a tasting portion before I committed to one. We decided to order a bunch of small plates and everything was excellent. Fig butter crostini with prosciutto--simple but done well Caprese salad--one of the specials for the evening with very fresh burrata Octopus salad--also a special. The octopus was grilled/charred perfectly! Sausage with braised cabbage--so SO good, especially with the sweet sauce/concoction Brown butter and sage gnocchi--melts in your mouth Peach and lavender risotto--a combo I never would have thought would make a good risotto, but it was fantastic Zeppole--freshly fried, decent sized portion. Definitely put us over the edge into feeling VERY full, but they were worth it! Overall, this was an incredibly well done dinner. I'm happy to have Antico just 2 blocks away and look forward to coming back again. The only reason I have not given it a full 5 stars is because the server forgot about us for a bit at the end, including what it was we ordered for dessert. He admitted his mistake and was very apologetic, which was appreciated, but it did slightly damper what had been a perfect experience so far. read more

Chicago's most underrated gem. Amazing home made pasta, great meats/fish and great wine. Super nice backyard too. Whenever I visit my parents in Chicago I want to come here. read more

This place has already become a second home for me, and I have become a regular customer since discovering this resto. When I'm too lazy to move or cook, I'll come to this restaurant by myself to eat. The most recent time I visited this place was last week when I invited a coworker to join me for lunch. I often recommend this establishment to my friends and anyone I am close to, and he enjoyed it as well. We ordered lasagna, polenta, and pappardelle as our main courses. We sat at their table outdoors because it was cool and pleasant, and I enjoyed the atmosphere in that spot. And, by the way, their employees are so accommodating and pleasant; the level of customer service is exceptional, which is one of the reasons I enjoy coming here and have been a regular customer. Everyone must try it out when you guys have time! You should give it a shot, fellas! read more

By far, one of the best dining experiences that I've had in Chicago. The browned butter gnocchi was one of the best I've ever had. The service was phenomanal. Loved it...loved it...loved it. Can't wait to go back. read more

Came here with my husband last night, the food was delicious. Lovely staff and feel to the place. Would defiantly recommend.

Feels like Italy here! Perfect sized portions that allow you to try different things without feeling stuffed - all bursting with flavor. Staff is incredible - Michael was our server last weekend and he was delightful. Very friendly environment, amazing food, incredible evening w my husband. read more

The best part of the meal was the dessert. We got the cured meat plate, fig butter with prosciutto, and sautéed mushrooms with polenta for starters. The meat plate must've had 8 thin slices of meat, it's hard to even call the sautéed mushrooms that with only about one mushroom's worth cut up and sautéed on top, and the fig butter was only butter, no other flavor making it hard to eat frankly. The duck risotto special was awful. The whole dish just tasted like lemon. You couldn't taste the duck at all. The lasagna special was slightly more flavorful but like the rest of the dishes we ordered, you're paying a premium for a dish that's no where close to filling. read more

How have we not been here until now?!?! This is the best Italian food I have had in the city! So cute and quaint. Excellent service and a romantic atmosphere, but also kid friendly. We went for date night - sans kid. We started with a champagne and grapefruit cocktail that was great! The wine we ordered was awesome too and our waitress knew a ton about it. In fact, she knew a lot about everything that had to do with the menu which was really nice. We did the $55 4 course special which is one of the best deals out there. We had the mushroom polenta and beet salad to start, both were awesome. Now to the pasta course...amazing! I am a sucker for homemade pasta. This was so delish! We had the braised pork paparadelle and the sweet potato gnocchi in a brown butter sauce with crispy sage. What is crispy sage you ask? The most amazing thing ever. We weren't sure if you were supposed to eat the sage, but we tried it...wow! It sounds so weird, but it was great, like deep fried sage. We had the filet, which was really big and really good. The pork tenderloin was also good, but the filet was much better. For dessert, the donuts (duh) and the flour less chocolate cake. Both incredible. I think I gained like 5 lbs. You must try this place, or maybe don't because I don't want to have to fight for a table:) read more

I came here by myself. It's dinner and I'm too lazy to cook in my apartment. I decided to come here and eat for dine in. If you want to feel the fresh air you can sit at their table outside. They have a lot of dishes on their menu. I tried their Lasagna with a pair of Margarita. Their Lasagna was mouthwatering. It was sweet and cheesy. I love how the pasta cooks very well. It's perfect for my taste. Their Margarita was refreshing. I can't calculate the last time I drank a Margarita. Margarita was great. After I ate all of those I ordered an ice cream. I chose a chocolate and cheese flavor. It's soft and very sweet. I love it. I highly recommend this place. read more

3.5 stars. Service was good but we found the food, while generally solid, didn't justify the smaller portions and the price to make it in our regular rotation for Italian. The scallop appetizer was the best dish of the night hands down. They were cooked perfectly and seasoned well. I'd pass on the Fritto Misto, the least favorite. It lacked seasoning, was bland and something was missing. For the main, I had the gnocchi and my husband had the lasagna. The gnocchi were fluffy and tasty. The lasagna was solid but needed more seasoning. The portions were smaller and in the end, we thought it was a bit pricey for what you got ($125 with tip and a bottle of wine) as compared to other Italian spots. read more
