Loacated just a short walk from the Lincoln Park Zoo, The Pasta Bowl is a specialist in all things pasta. There are appetizers and dessert on the menu as well but it's better to just go and focus on the carbs here. The plates are gigantic, big enough for 2, and the selection of dishes is lengthy. The pasta itself is flavorful, hot, and great texture. No soggy noodles or watery sauce here. Eating in is not bad, there are more seats inside than it seems. But based on the number of delivery drivers that show up, every couple seconds, it's very popular here.
Ordered via delivery - huge portion for the price, very hot and tasty! Love that it came with both bread and utensils. My driver was friendly and efficient and I was very pleased with the entire experience.
Stopped by the Pasta Bowl last night for dinner and oh my, the gem still shines! Crazy good food with the same huge potions. What do they do here that keeps that pasta al dente while still steaming away after 20 minutes?! I guess it's just one of life's little secrets but this place remains a high value, Americanized Italian comfort delight (albeit a tad noisy).

The Pasta Bowl has been our go-to for work catering two years in a row, and our team really enjoys it! This year we ordered Caesar salad, bruschetta, Conchiglie Gorgonzola, Farfalle Pollo, cookies, cheesecake, and assorted drinks. The Farfalle Pollo is always a crowd favorite, and the Conchiglie Gorgonzola was a great vegetarian option. The delivery person did an excellent job setting everything up for us. The cheesecake was stellar, and the bruschetta was also a new hit for our team. Consistently great food, good portions, and reliable service make The Pasta Bowl perfect for office events.
Based on my recent order, my honest review would be 1 star. However, I have been here multiple times and have enjoyed it, so I've decided to average it at a 3. I ordered the lucky penne pasta with chicken and bread service for delivery. I was craving pasta and remembered the last time I went with my friend she had ordered the lucky penne and it was sooo good and I loved the creamy chipotle sauce. So you can imagine how disappointed I was when I received my order and the pasta was not at all creamy and/or good. The flavors were off and it genuinely looked/ tasted like someone just threw together a bunch of left over ingredients to make a "end of the week meal." You know the ones you make when you're trying to make use of all the left over groceries. I was also really disappointed that the "bread service" just came with 4 tiny slices of bread (which were soggy bc it came in an air sealed tight plastic container). I'm so bummed that I paid extra for delivery as a special "treat" for myself and ended up just eating what I meal prepped for myself.

My friend and I came in to grab a bite on Thursday evening and I noticed most of their orders were for carryout so they definitely were still busy as it was freezing outside. They sat us at a small table in the very front under the heater, which was really appreciated considering it was negative degrees outside. All of the pasta options were so different and our server knew all of them by heart, including the noodle shapes which I was really impressed about. She was able to recite off the specials without looking at anything either. Server was extremely attentive and the ambience was casual stop in. We ended up ordering the butternut squash pasta with pancetta as well as the vodka rigatoni, and we added some chicken. The vodka rigatoni was not very spicy, but there was just enough sauce to cover all the noodles, but you didn't need anything, but they gave you a piece of bread to stop up the rest if that's for you. The butternut squash absolutely took the cake. It was savory, it was a little bit sweet, it was not greasy from the pancetta, but very well seasoned. I don't live very close to this place, but I actually would come out of my way for it. Thank you for having us!

Our server greeted us promptly and made us feel welcome from the start. The food was flavorful and satisfying. We ordered the Farfalle Pollo, which was especially delicious with a sprinkle of red pepper flakes; the Lobster Ravioli, which was just okay; and the Rigatoni Bolognese, which was hearty and well done. Service was efficient and friendly, and the overall experience was smooth--we were in and out within an hour, making it a perfect casual dinner spot.
Every dish felt like a warm hug--fresh pasta, rich flavors, and zero shortcuts. The kind of place where you accidentally clean your plate and start planning your next visit before the check even comes. Cozy, comforting, and seriously worth it.

We originally wanted to go somewhere else by this place but the place was packed and the kids said why don't we try pasta bowl. So I said YES. Last time I went here was 15 years ago with my husband when we were still dating Service - The server was amazing. He made us feel like home. He easily set the table for the 5 of us and everything was fast. Food - OMG!!!!!!!!! The portions were LARGE. My kids literally said they could finish it for one week (which was a lie!). I did however finish it for lunch dinner and lunch again Price - totally worth the buck! I would totally come here again and this time I will not take 15 years to come back.

Both were huge portions of pasta to the point that we probably could have ordered one and shared it. The prices are very reasonable for the portion sizes and the quality of food. Definitely a great option for affordable and quick pasta!

The pasta was great,the sauce was rich and the portions are huge, each dish serving two people pretty much. They didn't skimp on the meat. However it was a bit oily especially the pesto. The bread that came with was just okay. The server was very friendly. The inside is very nice, though there are a few steps that feel like they'd be easy to trip on. There are portraits of shelter dogs on the walls with plaques if they were donated which is very cute. read more

The pasta bowl definitely has a reputation for casual food and large portion sizes. This is my second time here. The first time I had a basic red sauce pasta and the second time I tried the lobster ravioli. The filling on the ravioli was good but the sauce was just incredibly heavy and goopy. The pasta here is probably on par to basic home cooking. If you're looking for classic Italian, this may not be the spot. But if you need something filling and comforting then this is the place. read more

My friend and I wanted a quick bite and a drink and found this place via Yelp. The place was near by and the reviews and pics convinced us to try the place out. It was a Friday night and there was no wait to be seated. We got the wings (10pc) which was really solid Buffalo wings! Crispy, juicy and right amount of spice. Also they have Moscow mules (house) for only $6! Solid tasting and not even happy hour. I didn't try the pasta but if it's anything like their wings then it's gotta be good. If you want a late night wings and drinks, I would highly recommend this place. read more

The food was delicious. I got a bowl of pasta and chicken with Alfredo on 4 out of 5 and it was very spicy and very delectable. The cheese was meaty and good. I also got jalapeños, which made the noodles spicy. The bread was soft and supple. The service was fast, friendly, and warm. The atmosphere was cozy, chill, and comfortable. My wife, friends, and I sat in the booth. Although there were a lot of us they let us rearrange the set up of the restaurant a little so everybody could fit by the booth. They're really friendly and chill, highly recommend. read more

The food here is fine, looks good, tastes good. No issue there. But the people working here? Whole other story. Ethan, especially -- probably the "highlight" of the night. If you're brown like me, well, good luck! There, I said it. The first time I came here with friends, we loved it. That's why we came back. Shouldn't have bothered. My girlfriend ordered chipotle pasta, loved it. I didn't, so I ordered chicken parm. I forgot to say white sauce -- my bad -- but I apologized and asked if they could make it that way. No problem, all good. I paid upfront, tipped him $5 cash (which is what I could afford as an international student), and went back to enjoying dinner. Asked for a coke refill. Now, there were little to no customers in the restaurant, so this wasn't exactly a rush-hour situation. Still, we waited almost 30 minutes. Nothing. My girlfriend even tried calling him over twice -- he flat-out ignored us. Then, of course, we see him happily pouring cokes for other people. Because apparently, a simple refill for us was just too much. At that point, I had to go ask someone else for a takeaway box. Meanwhile, Ethan vanished to the bar like he was hiding from us. Finally, when we're getting ready to leave, I ask for him, and he magically reappears with a half-filled to-go cup of coke. And his excuse? "I'm just busy." Busy? In a restaurant with barely any customers? That's a new definition of busy. So yeah, grow up Ethan. Learn what respect looks like. I know, crazy idea -- we're all human beings, shocking right? Pasta Bowl, maybe stop hiring servers who think customer service depends on skin color or tip size. Maybe if I'd slipped him $50 he would've remembered I exist. But no thanks. I was recommending Pasta Bowl to friends -- not anymore. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice? Yeah, I'm done. read more

What can be said about the Pasta Bowl that hasn't already been said? This place is a Northside Chicago staple. Very honest and tasty Italian food at a great price. Dine in and carry out. The Conchigile Pollo is easily the most popular dish and house specialty. If Dining in, check out "The Other Side" bar for after dinner drinks and shenanigans. That's where I take my hot ass wife to get blackout drunk. Honduranian girl wasted!!!! read more

came on a friday night for dinner and was able to be seated right away for 7! the restaurant was busy, but still had still had a few tables. service was good and accommodating. personal stars of the meal was the conchiglie al fuso for the veggies and flavor and the strawberry, walnut, and pear salad for its refreshing cut to the cheese and carbs! the only downside was the calamari as there was a lack of breading and flavor. the cocktail that aldo came with it was overly ketchupy and overpowered the calamari. read more

This is a good one, y'all. A restaurant dedicated to pasta? I'm in. And yes, they primarily serve pastas here besides a few salads and apps! First off my friends and I (a group of 5) came here on a Saturday around 4ish; there was a 30 minute wait which is pretty standard for a busy Saturday at a smallish restaurant. Seating here is pretty limited and it's a tight space. You're pretty close to others sitting by you and people are constantly hustling and bustling around you. Our server was so nice! I forget her name but she was very personable and thorough. They were out of 2 ingredients to make a certain cocktail and then out of another cider beer that my friend ordered. I ended up getting the limoncello spritz and it was okay! The pasta was superb - no surprise. They had over 15 pasta dishes and it was seriously hard to choose which one. We all absolutely loved the farfalle pollo, the chopped salad, and gnocchi Aurora. I really wanna try even more pastas and their appetizers. Will definitely come here again plus check out their other locations! read more

The lobster ravioli is phenomenal. It has a lot of sauce that you can dip the bread that is provided into. There is a perfect amount of spinach and sun dried tomatoes where it isn't too overpowering. The inside of the restaurant is very low light and gives off the vibe of a dive bar which is really interesting and unique. However, this was a takeout order so I don't believe a tip should be asked for for a takeout order. The food is great and I would definitely go back. read more
This is the cozy, classic, big portions, no frills neighborhood Italian spot! Finally tried the pasta bowl on a 3 degree snowy night and it was sooo good. We were in a bit of a hurry and the service was excellent and food came out so quick. We split the strawberry, walnut, pear salad as well as the chicken parm. The salad was actually phenomenal - tons of toppings, perfect dressing ratio, and I loved the fresh strawberries and pears. The chicken parm was classic, cozy, and saucy and you can really taste the freshness of the tomato sauce. The portions for both were also huge. I was impressed by the prices for food as well as drinks. Perfect spot for a casual dinner! read more
