Amazing menu with fresh, seasonal options. Servers were attentive but not overbearing, and the view is gorgeous.

Tried this place out based on a recommendation. They have a seasonal drink special based on the local farmers, in this case, rhubarb infused drinks. I ordered the strawberry rhubarb margarita which was very good. Looking at the menu, what appealed to me the most was the swordfish served over a bed of fettuccine with a lemony sauce. Uhhhh... Delicious!!! I was really impressed with the flavors and the size of the portion. Props to the chef. No issues with the servers, very friendly and attentive. Although I was teetering with some frustration with the host, who took longer than anticipated to seat a table of one in a dining area that was about 30% full at the time of my arrival. But she apologized for the wait, and the food experience made up for it. read more

Waited over an hour for my meal. Tasted like it sat under the warmer for 45 minutes. It was luke warm. Waste of money.

Tonight was my first ever visit to Anthony's. My husband had told me great things and I had high expectations. We didn't have a reservation but we were seated in no more than 10 minutes despite being told the wait would be 25-30 mins. We sat at our table for a long time before anyone came by. No problem, nice restaurant with beautiful views and we weren't in a hurry but this seemed to be the theme for the evening. Our waitress, Christina F was bubbly, and genuine. She brought us a truly amazing sourdough bread that we oops managed to devour before our food came. She promised to bring us more to have with our meal. We both had the swordfish over fettuccine with a lemon cream sauce. It was excellent! My fish was not piping hot but it took a long time for it to come out so I didn't say anything. It wasn't cold either. I suspect Christina F was spread too thin . From what she told us and the expression on her face, . It seemed like someone else was supposed to bring the bread to us and it did arrive (Christina brought it herself) on our last bites so we could soak in up the deliciousness of the sauce. My husband said, looking around, there was a lot of waiting going on, it wasn't just us or even Christina F's tables. Short staffed or communication issues? Whatever the problem, seems like an easy fix. When paying $100 for a dinner for two, we expect a lot more than what we expect from the local diner and that is why I could not give this visit higher than 3 stars. Would we go back? Yes without a doubt. Nothing that happened tonight would prevent us from doing that however, I would hope management would review their game plan and I truly expect more when we do return. A couple more little notes, I had the chocolate chip cherry ice cream that Christina F told us is the only thing not made in house. It comes from the Olympic Mountain Cremery...wow! Also, we sat near the bar..a couple sat there having a few drinks and dinner and a waiter walking by noticed that the lady's coat at fallen off a neighboring barstool. He gently picked it up, brushed it off and placed it gently back on the barstool. This small gesture illustrates to me the staff is genuinely concerned about their customers. This was our first visit. Only had to wait 15-20 min on a Friday night, not bad. Location and ambience was great. Our appetizer tasted amazing although it took quite a while to show. Our server was friendly enough and let us know but we didn't really see much of them. When our food showed it looked tasty but was quite bland. After telling the server I assume what must have been the manager came and spoke with us. We were honest and polite about the meal and said we were not upset by it but hoped for better. They kindly paid for our entrees and gave us some cheesecake on the house that was very good. They fixed the issue and we were happy with the night overall. Only other nitpick was the server took a while to ever come back. Will give them another go at some point. read more

This place isn't just trading on the great view at sunset! With that amazing ambience plus their Fabulous food and superb service--What more could you want? Ambience is outstanding. Try to get a table in the window before sunset for a spectacular scene. And you can actually carry on a quiet conversation. Food? Try their sunset special which last night was a shrimp cocktail with crunchy bits of celery. Following it was a blue cheese salad with home made croutons. My blackened rockfish was spicy and cooked to perfection. The desert was burnt cream aka creme brûlée. And their locally roasted coffee and bread from Avenue Bread are excellent. Service is well orchestrated. Items appeared and were removed appropriately. Celebrated a birthday lunch here on a rainy Saturday, and it was pretty empty, although I could imagine how busy it could get during summers with the waterfront view and all. I ordered the Wild Pacific Silver Salmon entree ($23) with double seasonal veggies instead of the rice pilaf and also added a cup of the clam chowder ($5). The salmon was good, but a little overcooked for my taste despite asking for it medium rare. The buerre blanc made the salmon shine more. The veggies were delicious and consisted of yellow squash, zucchini, butternut squash, and pumpkin seeds. The clam chowder was also yum. That sourdough bread it came with it is a great addition. Try not to get your fill from the bread but it's tempting! Service was good and ambiance is great for special occassions. read more

The sunny outdoor patio is great in August, just don't be the one facing west in the evening. I was in a Party of Five and had the fresh Alaskan halibut with rice and broccoli, one of us had the sirloin steak, another had the scallops and one had the cod fish and chips and another just had a chowder and salad as the calamari and crab artichoke dip was a bit filling. Everyone remarked how delicious their selections were and we were all quite full and didn't have room to order any desserts. Happy hour drinks were available on the sunny patio which included many tap beers, wine and Martini drinks. Anyone who reads my reviews know only too well I have an affinity for "freshness", especially in herbs & flavors in prepared menu selections. This venue meets all my expectations on every level. Tonite our server, Bill, was one of the best we've had lately from the time we were seated until we exited; even when we told him we were on a tight time line. He made it a point, even with crowded dining rooms, to have our menu selections delivered promptly (apps, main courses & deserts as pictured) & processing our bill quickly! We were welcomed warmly when we arrived and seated after a very brief wait for our 7:45 pm reservation. They brought warm French bread an water almost immediately, followed closely by a Russian Mule. We started with the Hawaiian Tuna Nachos and fried calamari. Both were good, but I'd choose the nachos any time over the calamari. Next was a bowl of their delicious creamy clam chowder with its rich bacon undertones. For the entree, we both had the Alaska Lingcod Caddy Ganty, which was served with basmati rice with almonds and white raisins. By this time we were both stuffed, but we finished with a, "Burnt Cream" (crème brûlée). This was the only disappointment of the meal, as the sugar had not been fully caramelized and I prefer the custard warm, but it wasn't a major problem. This place has friendly staff and a good view of the dock but that is all I can say. We came here as a group and the group was happy for the most part with their orders. I ordered a Seafood Pasta (Fetuccini, I believe) and the first thing you notice is that it looked like Seafood Pasta Soup. The serving was generous and the seafood quantity was sufficient although I would have preferred quality over quantity. The scallops was grayish in color and tough. Combine that with the Soupy look of the dish, one can only come out with the conclusion that these were frozen scallops and not fresh and judging by the color and texture of the scallops probably even freezer burnt. We went for dinner this evening. They are promoting lobster this month, so I thought I would get the lobster fettuccine. It came with 3 pieces nestled in a lobster tail. Others in our party thoroughly ejoyed Halibut steak (which was smallish but delicious), as was the Oregon rockfish, ling cod, and the prawn/steak surf & turf! Anthony's seems like the kind of place that you'd visit for a special occasion with a date or for a family event because of the beautiful, sweeping views of the bay. And I'm sure that and the seafood-heavy menu brings in most of their business, but since I'm not really a seafood fan, I can't speak to the quality of those dishes. But, if you're going to offer non-seafood items like steaks, burgers, etc, they should at least be well-prepared. I had a steak the previous night at another restaurant and opted to try the burger on the menu. When it arrived, the lettuce was a soggy mess for how much sauce they had loaded onto this burger. It was so messy, the patty fell out of the bun. I asked the waitress and she offered to take it back, but I saw a few other people at surrounding tables having similar issues, so I honestly declined because I didn't see that it would actually rectify the issue. But, the cocktails, Caesar salad, and the dessert were just fine. So, Anthony's was kind of a mixed bag, but who knows, maybe the chef had a bad night. Wow what a wonderful and beautiful restaurant! Come to Anthony's ! We had the Dungeness Crab Fettuccine, beautiful , the freshest crab and not to mention a very light fettuccine pasta ever! We also had the Wild Alaskan King Salman and boy, I have to say it was delicious and filling. We know this place is known for its fish, but we decided to have Beef Tenderloin filet and it was the best Steak we ever had, and that was goood news! We have dined at Anthony's numerous times, and they never disappoint! The timeliness, and friendliness of their host(ess) is wonderful! Our servers whom have pleasantly served us have always been punctual and pleasant. We typically get 2 to 3 courses when we dine. We almost always get a cup or bowl of their absolutely creamy chowder. Dipping the complimentary bread is a hit too! This recent experience, my husband and I enjoyed a dish from their daily specials. I had the Mahi Steak, and my husband enjoyed a traditional steak. The flavors were amazing! My fish was cooked perfectly, and the beans were seasoned just right. I couldn't be happier with my selection. Mostly, the promptness of the staff, was so superb, that our water glasses never dropped past 1/2 full! They pre-bussed accordingly and was always present in case we needed our server or buss person. All in all, a wonderful experience! We look forward to our next dining experience. read more

Coming back to Anthony's about ten years after my initial visit I saw a very different place. The place that I remembered was vibrant, new, and serving up really fantastic food. Now, I did come during the middle of a work day but it was at lunch and I just wasn't seeing the vibrance. My salmon was also sub-par for what I would expect from a Pacific Northwest known-for-seafood restaurant. It just wasn't great and especially for the price. The restaurant honestly seems a little worn out and it lacks that vibrancy that it had so many years ago, unfortunately. Out waitress was on the slow side as well - it just didn't feel up to par. Beautiful setting and ample parking. Nice set of huge stairs leading into the restraunt, there is a windy ramp hidden off to the side. It seems like the smiles were forced and I feel like it was stemming from the person expediting, you could almost feel the negative. We started with an order of calamari and one of coconut prawns. Calamari was a nice golden brown and breading had great flavor. Coconut prawns were okay not sure what the sauce was (maybe sweet and sour?) but plum sauce would have been better, it blends with the coconut flavor instead of covering it. Two of us picked one of the Sunday surf and turf specials. I got the one with crab and bearnaise sauce the other the one with prawns. The third member got the garlic crab. My steak with crab and bearnaise was okay the sauce tasted good but was broken and the steak was more medium than medium well. The steak with prawns was cooked well and had good flavor. The garlic crab is a big bowl of garlicky legs, they even bring a bib. It was cooked well and had good flavor. read more

My sister and I love to go out to eat, but had a conversation today about how there really is not a lot of really really amazing food in Bellingham. Not that we have found, anyway. We had heard some chatter about some restaurants on the Bay. We happened upon this place and we were not disappointed. We opted to sit outside, even though the bar is usually our go too. The ambiance outside is different than inside. Outside is much more relaxed. Even though there are a lot of boats, it was nice having a view of the bay. The happy hour is totally reasonable. We had a rose and the ahi nachos to start. The ahi was so fresh and the chips had the right amount of crunch. It came with 4 chips piled high with tuna. The wasabi sauce drizzled on top was the best part! We both ordered the steak and shrimp. You get a choice of how the shrimp is cooked. I choose coconut and she got scampi. They were both good the coconut shrimp was bomb!! It also came with a baked potato (which was a wonderful surprise since it didn't say that on the menu) and a small portion of al dente buttery green beans. The steak. Man, the steak was a perfect medium rare and oh so juicy. I couldn't figure out what the seasonings were, but after a couple bites I didn't even care. It was perfect. They have a peach menu and we ordered the peach slump. It was very similar to a crisp and was very tasty. We had peach vodka drinks and those were the best way to end this amazing meal!! We have been frequent Anthony's customers for their happy hour. This started off some time ago as a pretty good happy hour menu with excellent choices. Occasionally we order from the regular menu. Over the past three years the prices have increased significantly and the quality and offerings have decreased. Salmon swimmers were one of our favorites. However, this menu item is not longer offered. First the price increase drastically and then the number of mini-swimmers offered went from 3 per serving to 2, while increasing the price! Then they went away altogether. Alcohol happy hour prices the same. The happy hour price for a Boundary Bay IPA is more than you'd pay at Boundary Bay for every day pricing. Our last attempt was the worst. We ordered a chop salad from the regular menu, expected the quality to be outstanding. Not so. Very expensive, and of poor quality. I've had better chop salads in a bar. Service is at best mediocre. We don't recommend Anthony's at all anymore, we will not return read more

Went with a group of 6 people and had a pretty bad experience with our waitress. She was being very rude to us and just had a poor attitude. When our table was ordering drinks she only asked a few people what they wanted and then walked away. She came back with their drinks about 5 minutes later and never asked anyone else if they wanted to order drinks. When the rest of us tried to order drinks she seemed annoyed and just wanted to take our food order even though not everyone was ready. While we were eating she brought a few people more of the same drinks even though we didn't order more. We rejected them but were charged for them on the bill anyways. At the end of the meal, she asked if we wanted dessert, everyone said no and one person asked for the check. She proceeded to put dessert menus in front of everyone and told us she would give us time to want dessert. We wanted to leave, not sit there. When she came back she asked what we would all like for dessert. Everyone again said no to dessert and she seemed very annoyed by this. It took her a while to bring the check and just put it on the table without saying a word. The food was Ok, but I would have appreciated the snap peas to be de threaded, the meal was very expensive and I would think they would do this at a quality restaurant. The prawns were overcooked and tasted dry and rubbery. Overall I wasn't impressed at all. The hearthfire grill in Olympia has been WAY better. read more

I went to Anthony's for dinner while attending the Chanticleer Book Awards not knowing what to expect. The interior looked like a seafood restaurant. Wide open with a nice view of the sail boats. I was very hungry and what I ordered filled my tummy good. The barman said everything that I wanted id fried and that was just what my stomach and tongue taste buds longed for. I had the "Prawns Tempura" the shrimps were wild and fresh just like I like them. The bonus was the tempura fried fresh vegetables that I dipped in either sweet & sour and teriyaki and/or tartar sauce. Forget about it. I can't describe how yummy the whole food experience was. I miss the old Anthony's! We've been eating here for special occasions for the past 20 years, and brought in six for dinner on Mother's Day. After waiting twenty minutes past our reservation time (the waitress said they didn't have enough people to bus the tables) we finally got seated. The waitress took our drink orders and returned in about ten minutes, and of the four that ordered cocktails, not one of them thought theirs tasted good. They seemed watery and had very little flavor and a ton of ice. Our food order took another thirty-five minutes to come to the table. The 45 dollar steaks were cold, dry and over cooked, and the crab cakes...which are my favorites, were strangely greasy. Since the steaks were not very big, and came only with four small potato wedges and five asparagus spears, the guys were still hungry. No soup or salad is included with your meals anymore. We asked for another basket of bread. Still hungry, we ordered dessert. The burnt cream was fine, but the rhubarb slump was a disappointment. About a 4-1 ratio of bread to rhubarb filling. The one person who thought their food was great was our vegetarian who ordered a Beyond Burger. It was large and well prepared. read more
