This is a dive bar, and I love a dive bar. No pretentious, BS, cold beer and hot food. I stopped here a couple years ago because they were one of the few places serving food late in the evening, and now I come every time I'm in town. This is a must stop in Bellingham in my opinion.

Finally a great seafood restaurant in Bellingham. This sophisticated and upscale seafood bistro/tavern has fantastic ambience and friendly service. The food was easily the best seafood we've had in Bellingham. Be sure to dress up and bring your appetite. I had the captain's platter and it did not disappoint. Waterfront is an ideal seafood experience for the whole family.

    Limp, sad, soggy french fry.

Get the worse seafood than if you were in Kazakhstan. Tiny portions. Not made there. That crap is just Shamrock or Cisco frozen truck crap. And small portions for the price. The fries are limp and taste like the weird part of the inside of a fresh potato skin when it arrives at the table. More importantly, there is an option to tip on the check. Traditionally, tipping is for table service. There is no table service. Go to the bar and ask for a menu and beer. Sit down, no one shows up to take the order, then 30 minutes later, go to the other counter, order your nasty over priced crap from the unfriendly help behind the counter, then ask for a beer, then she says to go to the bar, wait at bar for warm beer, remind them that you have a table. Take your beer to table and eat food. Then when the food makes you sick, get up and go to the bar, tell them everything you ordered, skip the tip option and leave. Then speed home to the bathroom as fast as you can. The coleslaw was clearly not made in-house but seemed somewhat average. No complaints there. Loved the atmosphere! Salmon were swimming outside the window and sea-lions hunting them. Great vibe. Shit food. No service. Go there for warm beer and cool people. Good looking seafood outside the window, commercial frozen and rubbery crap on the menu.

The Serial Killer's favorite hang out. Ted Bundy, the DC Sniper, and the Hillside Strangler all hung out here. Don't believe me? Google it.

Stopped by Bellingham to grab a quick lunch after hiking to Fragrance Lake. As a cat lover this…read morerestaurant really had me at the name already lol. I was happy to see steamed clams on the menu. I grew up eating fresh steamed seafood for dinner, so battered fried seafood that is more common here hasn't really grown on me yet. To me fried seafood is a fancy version of chicken nuggets. I loved the clams, so light but bland. The sauce is full of umami flavor, drizzled with some fresh lemon juice, it was like a summery beachy afternoon in a bowl. I could easily dip a loaf of toast with it if I had one. The clams were fresh and meaty, nothing to complain about with this dish. My partner had the grilled cheese, and he said it was mid. He's vegetarian, and I don't like cheese, so I didn't bother to try any of his meal to do my own fact check. The staff were friendly too. Overall, this is a nice place to grab lunch when visiting Bellingham.

We stopped by The Black Cat and had a bit of a mixed experience…read more The Florentine Benedict had great flavor, but unfortunately it came out completely cold. I get that the spinach and tomato are meant to be cool, but the poached egg and hollandaise should at least be warm--kind of the whole point. On the flip side, the Black Cat breakfast (bacon + waffle) was delicious, and the Croque Madame (Croque Monsieur with a fried egg) was chef's kiss. Only note there--fries under the sandwich instead of on the side made things a little soggy. Coffee was solid, but we never got a refill, and same story with water. Once the food hit the table, service basically disappeared. Atmosphere is great--cozy, classic Fairhaven vibe--but overall service was very slow. Would come back for the food, just hoping for a little more attention next time.
